Pros +
- The location is fabulous. We took the train to Queralbs and then hiked into the hotel. Room was spacious and bed firm and comfortable. Feel of an old ski hotel with lots of memorabilia of the region and its history. Most importantly was the customer service and the food. We purchased a half board with buffet dinner included. As we were leaving early for our hike we could not make breakfast at 8 - so the kitchen replaced with a box lunch. Best boxed lunch ever !
- Location, quite a few hikes start close by and the place is chill
- When you arrive in Nuria, you get a slight 'Overlook Hotel' feel (you know, the hotel from The Shining), seeing the hotel built around a sanctuary. This is a place that caters to people who come skiing in the winter and families with young kids, as there were all kinds of entertainment being organised for the youngsters. There's also an large souvenir shop and several catering options.Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. While the rooms were very basic, I was amazed that (including breakfast) we only had to pay 85 euro for a night, considering it is the only option in this location. It's probably the low season between trekking and skiing.
Cons -
- The buffet quality/price ratio
- There's a bit of a funky smell in certain parts of the hotel. Most of the people who arrive on the little train only stay in the valley for a few hours to enjoy the lake and mountains, and then head back downhill. In all honesty, since we were not planning on doing extensive hiking, we should have done this as well. Not because the hotel was terrible (it wasn't), but a few hours in Nuria would have been enough for us.While the breakfast was fine, we avoided the dinner catering options because they received such dreadful reviews online. Can't tell if they are justified, but they do have a bad reputation. While big bottles of water cost around 1,50 in the shop, small ones cost 1,80 in the vending machines, and it's the only place you can get them after the shop closes.
- unfortunately we were there for only one night and with trains timetable meant it was too short :(

great staff, great breakfast. best place to be in the snow and yet get enough space and privacy. not too crowded at all. great get away from the city.
unfortunately we were there for only one night and with trains timetable meant it was too short :(
The hotel is in a privileged location, right by the final stop of the Cremallera train, making it very easy to reach. Surrounded by stunning mountains, it's the perfect place to enjoy nature and explore the valley.
While the location is excellent, our stay had several downsides. The room was not very clean — I dropped a sock under the bed and found it full of dust, which triggered my allergies. The finishes felt outdated (from the 90s), and the shower head didn’t work properly. We also received a message saying dinner was included, but we were charged an extra €75. The buffet on the first night was disappointing compared to a previous visit — very limited selection and not the quality we expected. On the second day, after a long hike, the restaurant was closed, so I had a sandwich from the bar. An hour later, when it reopened, my girlfriend and I sat together, but only she was planning to eat. While she was at the buffet, a waiter told me I had to pay too just to sit there, even though I wasn’t eating and there were plenty of free tables. I had to leave her eating alone to avoid paying €25 for nothing. That policy was not written anywhere.Overall, the service and quality didn’t match the price, and we left feeling disappointed.
Only the nature which is the only thing hotel did not provide and i am grateful for that, if they touched it i am sure that they could bring the value down like they did with everything else, this hotel is a full of disaster.
The staff has 0 respect towards anyone. They freely shout and warn you for random stuff. They have 0 protocol in place for misbehaviors. During our stay someone in some room smoke and whole hotel went down at 3 am and they let that room stay in the hotel for the rest of their stay. Both my son and I got diarrhea on the first night, the food quality is definitely below average, we had two rooms my rooms wasn’t clean they didn’t clean it although i have requested it two times more. I was out of hand wash in the room as they just filled it up for 1 night stay, they didn’t fill it up again. They shouted at us and my kids numerous of times, the staff is basically grown up kids cannot control their emotions and definitely lack skills to run the hotel. We filled a complaint form about the manager, and they have redirected our complaint to the manager so there is no way to report these people. Hope the owner of the property reads this message and clean up this gang of staff, as i liked the location but never going back until something is fixed.
Everything. It's the perfect place to relax and take time for yourself. You can do a lot of things. It's a quiet place and the landscape is beautiful. The dinner as well as the breakfast was really good.
Everything was great.
Everything was good. Buffet service for meals well replenish with variety of meals. Staff very helpful
Perhaps rooms a bit to hot. (I understand that we were at -9 C ...)
The hotel is lovely and it's located in a good area. The hotel looks like the photos in their website
The smell of the toilets next to restaurant
Everything. The location. The food. The views
Maybe the bar with gluten-free options
I loved the location and easy access. I also thought the food was excellent (minus the juice).
It was very disappointing that they had drilling going on from 8:30am until 6:30pm. I went for peace and quiet. I had an injury and was looking for a Nature escape for the first time after 2 years of being home. I was saddened that this noice was going on and no discount was offered.
Very relaxing! We were lucky enough to get a room with the river view! ? We had a feast during breakfast!
Bad experience from the hotel cafeteria staff!19/10/24 about 7-8pm We bought pizza and the staff was not friendly with tourist like us. He seemed to be friendly serving the locals (Spanish) but we couldn't help but notice that his mood immediately changed when was serving us. Minor: Bath tub doesn't have drain stopper.
Basic but comfortable room. Excellent dinner and breakfast buffets. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good wifi.
The decor was a little bland and lacking mountain ambience.
1 out of 2 dinners that we took was awesome! Battery in the bathroom was broken, but after the notice it was quickly fixed. Location and nature around the hotel is amazing!
Location is very special. Beautiful valley and the mountains, easily accessible hiking trails and lots of nature spots to see. A gem!Breakfasts and dinners were included and they were quite nice. Not outstanding but a nice variety to choose from. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
The simple rooms are a bit outdated and worn. All works fine but it would be more pretty in “comfort” rooms (which are not dog friendly, alas). Also, cars stay on a parking down at Queralbs and it’s important to keep notice of the train schedule if you want to go down from Nuria to get some food or do whatever. Trains are rare and if you miss one, you’re out :) No other transport can get up to Nuria except for Cremallera train, keep that in mind.
Service, cleanliness, comfortable bedrooms
This is a historic hotel, in a beautiful natural setting. The rooms are simple but nostalgic, and they are comfortable enough for a couple of days you'll be spending in the mountains. Breakfast is plentiful, for every taste. The staff is simply exceptional and very hospitable. You feel welcome. It is worth it just for the experience, I would absolutely recommend it.
The bathroom does need a bit of fresh paint and new shower fixtures, otherwise, it's very clean and spacious.
the location is stunning the staff was amazing, especially the breakfast staff.
too hot in the room. from one side you don’t have air conditioning. from the other side you can’t open the window because of the bugs and mosquitoes.
The location is perfect. The hot water comes fast. The bathroom is pretty large.
There are too many flies inside the hotel. The flies in the rooms or in the buffet restaurant are really annoying. I had a feeling that this hotel is not prepared for the summer seasons, but only for the winter seasons.
Nuria is a magical place. The hotel was very comfortable, extra points for the beds and sheets - never slept so well in a hotel room. Having my breakfast with a view to the mountains was also not bad at all.
Small thing: the emergency exit light in the room could be dimmed down a lot, it was way too bright. And also another thing, this is not really about the hotel: the prices for the small train from Ribes/Queralbs are way too high, especially considering that the last train leaves Queralbs at 17:40pm. I had to plan my trip around it, and it made timing somewhat awkward in what otherwise was a very nice trip.
