    Pros +

    • The location and the atmosphere.
    • This apartment was much bigger than I expected and would be great for groups. I would have been able to cook a full meal if I so desired. Full marks for the incredible location, right in the heart of the historic centre and just a short walk from the main Principe train station and all major tourist attractions.
    • Hotel Cairoli is very centrally located so it's easy to walk most anywhere. I enjoyed multiple walks down Garibaldi, just a few blocks from the hotel, while admiring all of the palaces. The hotel was very clean with friendly and helpful staff. I especially appreciated the recommendations for where to get good meals, pasta specifically. Breakfast is 10 euro more, so is affordable and convenient.

    Cons -

    • The mattress in our room was definitely ready to be replaced. It bowed in the middle causing my husbanding and I to roll into each other while we were sleeping.
    • If you want complete silence during your stay, you won't find it here but it is not a major issue. Genoa is full of winding laneways meaning the city if going about its business between the buildings at all hours of the day. I think the constant hum is part of the charm but some might want to look for a different location outside of the historic centre.
    • The only thing I didn't like, and it may have been more specific to my room, is there was a strong smell of bleach. I left the window open most of the day to try to air it out, and asked not to have cleaning staff come in as I didn't want even more of the smell. It could have been unusual, but I'm sensitive to strong smells. Otherwise, I had a very nice stay and would return in the future.

The hotel is located in a nice area in the center. The room was very spacious and clean

Breakfast was unimaginative, but it was enough not to emerge hungry in the end.

    Very close to port

Need better furniture on outside patio and 2 chairs inside room.

    Location, staff courtesy, cleanliness.

Swinging elevator doors, €23 parking at Minerva Park (hotel discount).

A lovely, old family hotel with friendly, professional staff. Great, safe location. Lovely choice for breakfast. Comfortable room with a terrace. The bed was very comfortable. It was nice to have a beautiful lounge area to sit in. A peaceful and relaxing place to stay and explore Genova from. Excellent suggestion of a lovely restaurant in the next street and a supermarket nearby. I would definitely stay again.

    All was good.

Tiny hard bed, awful pillows, average breakfast

    8ChrisPosted on: 9-5-2024

Excellent location, friendly family service, very clean.

Access to reception on 3rd floor difficult with small lift.

Clean and easy to access.I was only there long enough to sleep one night. The hotel provided exactly what I needed.

    8SinemPosted on: 8-14-2024

The hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the old town, making it convenient for exploring the area. The room was clean and met all of our basic needs, though it's best to set your expectations slightly lower than a typical 3-star hotel. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with the essentials covered.

The room was basic and didn't quite meet the standards of a typical 3-star hotel.

    6NicholasPosted on: 8-13-2024

Good location in old town and near to station/bus for airport. Reception very helpful and looked after our luggage on last day prior to late night return flight home.

    7BartPosted on: 8-4-2024

Location is perfect to visit Genua.Breakfast is good.

The room was too small for 2 people.

    10PaoloPosted on: 7-26-2024

I like the location, and I love the communal terrace.

The only issue I had was the lift. It was too narrow and tight, especially with the luggage and bags.

    6PatriciaPosted on: 7-23-2024

The hotel was in a great location close to Palazzi dei rolli. Also cafes and a few restaurants close by.

A small room with one side of the bed up against a wall. The bathroom smelt due to plumbing issues I’m guessing. The staff were always hidden in their office . Breakfast room didn’t look open.

    9TinaPosted on: 7-15-2024

We liked the room, option to go to the balcony, it was nice, clean, modern vibe…we needed the room for a night and it served its purpose very well.

I missed power outlet on my side of the bed.Entering the elevator was a bit akward.
