About
Enjoy a historic setting and magnificent views from this 10th-century castle, carefully restored as a luxury hotel but still retaining much of its original charm. The Parador de Tortosa’s setting in front of the Parc Natural dels Ports mountains allow to look out over the green Ebro Valley and the ancient city of Tortosa. It was originally built by the Moorish King Abderramán III, but over the centuries has been updated in a Gothic style. The interior is traditionally Christian, with vaulted ceilings, wood beams and antique-style, wooden furniture. Take in the stunning views from the spacious sun terrace or the outdoor seasonal swimming pool. You can then try some of the characteristic Catalan cuisine served in the hotel restaurant – a charming venue with exquisite stained-glass windows.

Pros +
- Everything about this hotel is amazing. I even ended up extending my stay for an extra day, I did not want to leave. I was on a solo trip and it was exactly what I needed. The hotel is beautiful, clean and the AC was top notch!
- The ambience is wonderful. Location amazing. All staff very professional. Breakfast service is incredibly busy but if we asked for anything it was promptly served.
- Beautiful location. Comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast buffet. Wonderful staff.
Cons -
- Yes. Some areas are having building work done. It did not start before 10.00am but continued until 4pm. We were out all day and we were given a room away from it. We would be happy to stay again in spite of it.
- If I had to find a complaint, I would say the pillows could be a little more plump or add another one for people. I ended up folding mine in half to get a comfortable pillow feel. But that is a minor thing.
- Works at parking area made the bags carrying unnecessarily uncomfortable, the access to the hotel is not clearly indicated and the rooms location is confusing. Hotel walls decoration needs an update and a general refurbishment in the rooms would highlight this lodgement's potential

Hotel location is fantastic & restaurant is excellent

Clean room , they let us check in early
So much construction … it definitely needs the renovation. Property was a mess. Wait staff in restaurant were very curt.
The property was magnificent and the staff was very attentive.
The beds were a bit hard and some of the furniture in our suite could use replacing. But otherwise the furnishings were authentic and beautiful
very comfortable hotel, lovely food, great staff but we did not get any sense of the palace
weather was hot and pool not open! Tower was closed and we were not even allowed to get close to it- disappointing
Cool location and building. Dining area had an amazing historical vibe to it. Good breakfast!
Room needed a renovation. Door to the balcony was damaged so flies would enter the room. Room was also noisy. Dinner was decent but not good value for money. They were renovating certain areas of the hotel which caused some inconveniences, and there was not much to do. Swimming pool area not available. Town of Tortosa felt unwelcoming for foreign tourists, but obviously this has not much to do with the hotel
Fantastic setting and lovely old building. Nicely decorated comfortable room. Very good value for money.
The service in the restaurant was appalling. We waiting over 30 minutes to order & another 30 minutes before any food arrived. In the bar the following night we waited over 30 minutes for cold calamari. Almost comical. Didn’t find staff particularly friendly at check out or check in.
Easy parking, large comfortable room, waiting staff in restaurant(Evening were excellent).Very good dinner.
Breakfast choice and layout disappointing, bar staff need more training/experience.Not informed about all the building work, which may well have affected our decision to stay.
The bread at dinner.
The pool was not working. This pool is clearly not going to open any time this year. My 82 yea old dad has to swim everyday for his health. The hallways smell like sewage. The parking had cars everywhere and people were being trapped by other peoples cars. We left after 1 night the smells were too much. The office demanded I pay for second night, and told me to read the add better. The first photo in their add is this beautiful pool, complete bait and switch and they said it was my fault.
Great location, great view from the hotel.free parking.
Lovely location overlooking the town and river valley. Stunning views from a very impressive building. Dinner was excellent value in a beautifully restored room in the castle. Great breakfast too.
Major restoration works ongoing all around the outside of the building.
The building is very beautiful and the staff makes us feel welcomed. A bit far the room from the reception and last floor only accessible by stairs so with heavy luggage wasn’t easy. There were some work in progress so we weren’t able to access swimming pool and in the morning was a bit noisy due to works also in the parking area.
Beautiful old building! Very helpfull staff!Good quality food.
The building and its surrounding are spectacular.View from the top of the mountain, where the parador is, to the town and the river Ebro.
It’s a beautiful parador in a castle setting. Lovely rooms with wooden shutters and tile floors. There was a bathtub as well! The bed was so firm that I wanted just to stay in the whole time and sleep.
The walls were surprisingly thin. I could hear my neighbors. The buffet breakfast is expensive (19 euros), though it offers cava and fresh orange juice. However, they didn’t have an a la carte item promised on the menu. The two men in the breakfast room seemed overworked. The pool was not usable while there so it shouldn’t be so prominently displayed.
Everything! Room, view, breakfast, dinner as well as the food available in the bar. It's a Parador and competitively priced stating in low season.
Nothing except leaving!
Location overlooking Tortosa and the old-fashioned Parador feel
The restaurant staff and meal quality
Food and staff very good , great location close to town
A lot of building work was going on around the hotel which looks like it will continue for several months to come ,so was quite nosey during the day, which also made the hotel look like being in the middle of a building site , At the time of our visit the hotel was not very busy but still had a room overlooking the building works
Everything was great: the historical venue, the location and the room.
Just one small thing: it's great to have a coffee machine and a kettle in the room, but although we had some coffee capsules to make some coffee in the room, it lacked some tea & infussion bags which is a pitty.
