    • Staff very friendly and helpful was brilliant! Decor very nice and fitting of a classy beach boutique hotel. A very warm welcome on arrival - great first impression. Location awesome!
    • The views are stunning. The property has a restaurant which was absolutely outstanding. Staff very helpful and pleasant.
    • The views are breathtaking, reception area well decorated.Private beach.Staff is kind and pays attention to details and making your stay great.Really appreciated.

    Cons -

    • Downstairs lounge and dining area all very nice and modern. Bedrooms however could do with a little upgrade and TLC eg Room #8 - full room length of wardrobe/cupboard space definitely not needed - take most out and then heaps more space.
    • I don’t feel like the restaurant is promoted enough
    • Restaurant options are not that great. They have a set menu, would've loved a buffet breakfast.

    Great location.

Disinterested staff. Our room was not ready despite being late for check-in. They had to reconfigure the room to what we had requested and put a bedside table and lamp in the closet(!) and the headboards against the TV screen. Eh? We rearranged the furniture. Tiled floor was soapy and slippery and we did not get towels on arrival. We had to interact with the reception people a lot more than we wanted to just to have average amenities and experience. We'll stay elsewhere next time at this price point.

We ended up paying an additional R1000 to upgrade to a better room. The garden unit was a tiny room at the entrance at the bottom of the stairs. The staff were amazing. There was a function on in the restaurant but they set up dinner on our upgraded balcony - very special

The lodge is hosting outside people to have parties, birthdays and baby showers. The people were drunk and making noise until midnight. This is compromising security too

Exceptional location and wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. I had an excellent stay at Canelands and will certainly be back!

Great location, Much too expensive for what it is, and quite noisy bedroom,. not ideal for families.

    Staff, food and sea view

Aircon was not working and the ocean was loud at night.

The area of the hotel is superb! Waking up right next to the beach was great. My husband and I sat on the balcony till late in the evening enjoying the sound and view of the beach.

Breakfast was bad I left hungry in the morning, I strongly suggest management to get a professional chef to prepare food for the guests.

Tremendous sea views from bedroom and public areas.Superb giant prawns for dinner, and excellent cooked breakfast

    Nothing, it was all good

Excellent service from the staff. Location couldn't have been better, right on the sea. Spectacular views! Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Main downstairs area and dining room nicely furnished, lovely seating areas.

The room itself, besides the amazing view, did not live up to expectation given the price for the night. Furnishings are cheap and shoddy, cupboard doors didn't close properly, and bedside lamp shades were wobbly. The bathroom was outdated and grimy looking, cupboard wood rotting at the base, mirror blackened edges, and toilet flusher kept jamming. The swimming pool wasn't up to standard either and needs resurfacing. The room was near the reception area staircase, and voices carried up so a bit noisy. The room was very disappointing. My rating of 7 is for excellent service from staff, the food, and location.

We recently stayed in a seaview room that truly exceeded our expectations! The size of the room was fantastic—spacious and well-laid-out, allowing us to relax comfortably without feeling cramped. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a long flight. One of the highlights was definitely the breathtaking view from our room; it provided a perfect backdrop for our stay and made our morning even more special. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway!

The setting - Ocean and pool etc

    Parking a problem

The hotel is set overlooking the beach at Salt Rock with stunning views. Long narrow pool (although annoying cleaning pipe constantly in way). A handy restaurant on site, with a nice bar area. Our room also had a stunning view of the beach and a large terrace. Easy to walk out onto the beach.

Only 3/4 secure parking spaces for whole hotel. We fortunately choose a sea view room, the 'garden view ' rooms at the back overlooked the car park, road and noisy generator. The bathroom in our room was open to the bedroom , no door or solid walls. The bedhead backed onto the bathroom basins, there was no privacy at all. The restaurant is very popular with local people and constantly busy. Many people wandering about taking photos, selfies. We were not allowed to use the pool/pool area one afternoon for 3 hours because they'd rented the area out for a Instagram style wedding proposal and photo shoot. This is unacceptable when you are paid guests at the hotel and expect to be able to use the facilities.... also you should not have a drone flying around filming outside your terrace! Slow service in the restaurant because they are unstaffed.

Wendy and team were so attentive. The new trainee really went all out on our anniversary dinner. What a lovely stay

That we couldn't have a setup on the beach. However the team made up for it at the pool and the excellent service

    Location very good

Very noisy, staff are preoccupied with running the restaurant and not focused on the hotel guests

The view was spectacular ?. Hearing the sound of the water in the morning when you wake up was top tier ??. The staff was super friendly which really made our stay a worthwhile

    Limited menu variety.
