Cenobio Hotel & SPA Matera

The family suite was perfect for our family of 5. We were granted early checkin and late checkout, Samir was so helpful bringing our luggage to/from the suite. We loved our stay in Matera!

The breakfast was amazing! The staff were so helpful and friendly. This was the most unique and wonderful stay. I don’t know if we will ever be able to top the experience we had staying here. It was in a great location.

The property itself and the staff couldn’t have been any better! The most difficult thing was getting luggage to the hotel but they have a service for hire to help.

Awesome location right in the center of old town. Staff was excellent, breakfast quite decent and withing walking distance to everything you want to see.

It was a challenge to get to the hotel and it is not walkable but they have a transfer which is quite pricy (Euro 15.00) for a 10 minute ride.

Amazing experience! The whole atmosphere of being in a cave made our stay memorable. The room is big, very comfortable, super clean, modern and well equipped. Beds and shower were great. The view is superb! It is well located. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Tatiana and Samir did everything to make us feel home. The breakfast has great variety and all super fresh food!

If you have mobility issues that would not be the best place, cause there a lot of steps, but this is all over Matera. For the price and level of the hotel, they should have hair conditioner.

Upscale cave hotel, central location, yet perched on Matera ravine with great view. Room very comfortable, nice sized bathroom, and friendly/helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Nothing, really!

The room was fantastic. Cave !!! We loved the jacuzzi tub. Very comfortable and beautiful. The staff was delightful. Very helpful with carrying the luggage to the property. It was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was nice. The location was good. Everything was walkable and close by.

The most magical experience staying in an updated, modern cave. The hotel room was large and well appointed. The uniqueness of the lodging is unforgettable. Staff was lovely and very helpful. Private spa for a fee was wonderful- I love the idea of a private space. I don’t mind a fee to have the space all to ourselves.

The public steps to get to the hotel could be a bit slippery. But honestly the magic of Matera and this amazing hotel is too good that anything negative is forgiven.

The view and the room was very authentic. Breakfast was also great.

Pool was not free to use and only part of the spa.

The cave room was beautiful and had enough space for our family of 5. Beds were comfortable, spa was great, breakfast was very good, location in the old city and the view are great. The service was very good.

Excellent location, clean, comfortable, authentic, great value. Associates are friendly, but special mention to the night manager, Mario. Mario is like the Italian uncle that everyone should have. Great sense of humor and entertaining. Breakfast offered is adequate.

Could have used a coffee maker in the room, but thought that it is a historic site and maybe the absence of one was precautionary.

Unique property in the center of Matera

No coffee or tea pot in the room.

The staff are great and helpful. The room is so modern and nice. The view is just perfect.

The property should upload a map detailing how to reach it from the main plaza. Calling the property isn’t always convenient and it would alleviate stress on both sides when checking in.

Everything was great. Mario and the rest of the team were super friendly and helpful. The location and the room were astonishing.

Staff were very welcoming , hotel has a lovely private spa which is in a separate cave room so it’s yours to use privately which we really enjoyed. We booked a time upon arrival for the spa and when we were done our bags were in our room waiting.

Rooms was spectacular with the spa included. Mario and Samir were very accommodating and helpful.

Poor communication to facilitate arrival to the property. We had to walk and climb in Matera with our suitcase. Only a paid parking option was provided and a paid external transfer. Poor service recovery form staff.Female receptionists are too junior and not aware on how to deliver good customer experience expected from 4 starts hotel. Wanted to charge the water firm the room when checking our . WiFi didn’t work properly in the room.

Breakfast was good typical European style, view outlook was amazing.location was great ,far enough away from all action yet close enough so everything was easy to get to.

Omg this hotel is beautiful ? we had the room with spa wow this was amazing. Matera is gorgeous like no other place I've been. Breakfast was great and Mario was delightful always happy to see us. Highly recommend this hotel ♡

Absolutely nothing except we had to leave

The staff were lovely and very attentive and breakfast was very nice - quite a lot of choice and very fresh. The room was beautiful.

It is quite tricky to find and a bit of a walk from the parking. Even if you book a treatment you cannot use the spa without paying extra (same price as if you did not book a treatment).
