About
Hotel Del Campo is a historical building outside Matera's city center, 1.9 mi from the Sassi UNESCO site. It offers large rooms with free Wi-Fi, local cuisine, and a large garden. Del Campo Hotel was renovated preserving original elements of the 18th century. All the rooms are located in a new wing and feature parquet floors, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. Le Spighe Restaurant is set in a beautiful park, and serves local specialties and a selected choice of traditional wines from Basilicata. The hotel is located a few yards from the intersection of Via Gravina and the SS7 national road, the bypass giving access to the city. Indoor and outdoor parking is available.

Cons -
- The light on the terrace all night, pretty far from the centre.
- 1. The bathroom = the Cave... very dim Light, inability to adjust water2. The area = 3 km from history centre3. The breakfast = very poor, Eggs cold... the frustrated service, it was very unpleasant4. The receptionist pur offered a dinner with other group, because no exist a restaurant in hotel. The dinner was quickly 7.30-8.00 and finish. The dinner was aberace, on the table was open bottle of wine - it was horrible wine... If we made chekout, we have to pay 2x40 eur for this dinner... We were shocked Long time!!!Our recomended: Be very, very carefully!!! You'd better avoid the hotel....
- We didn't like that we had to pass by the cats to get in the front door.

Just off the city centre and nice spacious free parking
Nothing was all very nice. You need a car to go to the city centre.
We liked the beautiful garden and the pool. The breakfast was nice, with choice of ham, cheeses, sweets, fruits, yoghurt. Free parking was great. Location is quiet, away from center. We liked the general ambience. The room had nice balcony.
The location was a bit far from old city center. We took the bus at first, but had to wait long time in the summer heat. The swimming cup is compulsory for the pool , so you might want to buy one in the shops for €2 or you need to buy one at the hotel for€4. The stuff could show a little more friendliness when asked where the pool was. Pool and roof top closes strictly at 6:30 pm.
Friendly and efficient service and staff. Comfortable and clean room. Decent breakfast good value
It’s a good walk to Matera centre ( about 40 minutes). Taxi costs 20 Euros . Hotel is very good but location is outskirts of Matera.
Very good breakfast, clean room with good bed and nice pool area and beautiful garden, free parking

Classical designed with large comfortable rooms impeccably maintained in lovely garden setting.
Wi-fi was a bit problematic and kept dropping out.
Lovely and roomy, clean and staff were very helpful. It was a little out from the centre but we walked it every time.
Good breakfast.
Only on arrival informed that to swim in outdoor swimingpool we have to put on the swimming hats... and prposed us to buy at receptiin one costs 5€. ? we were 4 persons. As meanwile in the swimming pool were people with out hats...
Lovely pool with sun all day. Good sized room. Helpful staff.
About 40 min walk from tourist attractions and night life but there was a bus stop round the corner and the 6a took you straight to the center for 1.5 euros each in 5 mins. The hotel staff can give you directions to the bus stop.
This hotel was such a good choice for our stay in Matera! It has a great set-up, we felt we went back in time in a romantic era and enjoyed the most elegant things! Breakfast set-up was amazing and the capuccino was 10/10. All choices of food in the breakfast were good quality. The gardens and pool are amazing and another great plus to this hotel.
Nothing to mention
We stayed only one night but the hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel, rooms and grounds were super clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others
Nothing, we had everything we needed.
Room was very spacy. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was average. What I liked more, there parking lot, easy to commute in the city.
nice staff and good location
weather was hot and a/c was off. we had to open windows at night risking mosquito bites. Breakfast was also very limited. toaster and egg-boiler not working.
Friendly and accommodating staff and free parking
There wasn’t a lot of choice at breakfast.
receptionist was very helpful.Room was OK.Beds : OKLocation : @ car driving distance from Matera.

Convenient location for the centre. Excellent value for money. Very nice staff helpful. Room clean with very big bed with firm mattress which suited us. NOT like those mattresses that sag in the middle!! Breakfast nice. Nice clean pool with pretty garden.
All good.
The hotel has a lovely garden. It was very peaceful though right in the middle of town and there is good parking. The concierge arranged a taxi to take us to the sassi and it was prompt and very good value.
There was no written menu for dinner and we ended up with something neither of us could eat. We were given a discount.
Our 1 night stay at Hotel Del Campo was lovely, the rooms were big, clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Breakfast time was a little disorganised and when we arrived there wasn’t much available, no one communicated that fresh pastries were going to be brought out or how we could get hold of a glass of water. Eventually it was all resolved and we did enjoy our alfresco breakfast!
