Pros +
- The site the interiors.
- Well decorated and unique. Hotel employee was a delightful nice hostess
- Wonderful location and is just 5-minutes walk from the bus final stop (line SASSI). It is within a quiet place and you can experience Matera on foot.
Cons -
- Dust / Dirt dripping off from the ceiling (right on top of the bed). We stayed during hot Summer but one of the air conditioners was not working well (but they provided an electric fan). Well, the costs of one or two nights should be able to get a decent brand new air conditioner.
- The staff are not all all service oriented. Very inflexible. Its ridiculous that you can check in only at 16.00 hrs and have to check out by 10.00 am. You have to indicate exactly what you wanted for breakfast and the time the night before and literally only nothing else was available. Very odd system.

We loved our cave room. It was spectacular. It was large, we had access too smart TV, the location was awesome
Matera is truly unbelievable, and this hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of it all. Very close to a main plaza and plenty of restaurants to pick from, it is located in a perfect spot. The room is quite unique and very spacious. Beds were comfortable enough for a good night rest after all the daily activities. Breakfast was very good.
Great location. Property is very nice, clean and comfortable. The room was lovely.

Beautiful room with a great view. Breakfast brought to our room which we enjoyed on our balcony.
Nothing!
The cave room was very unique, clean and close to dining & sights. The breakfast was very nice. Would have enjoyed staying longer.
The extra cot was very squeaky when turning over in bed. The location was a long walk from parking garage especially when raining. Recommend arranging a taxi to & from parking structure.
Extremely unique hotel built in to the cave walls located in the old city of Matera. Very clean with an amazing staff.
Parking is very confusing. We selected the parking garage option but the GPS doesn’t take it to the right garage.
Best place to stay for a health retreat and a short fun walk to Monopoli old city
The management was excellent
The location is nothing short of outstanding. The rooms are spacious, welcoming and beautiful. We stayed in a room with a small balcony that was just perfect!! The breakfast was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The views was just spectacular.
One of the nights we decided to sleep with the door to the balcony open (all windows and doors have screens). It was the best thing we did. Not only did we enjoy the view, but also it alleviated the only area of improvement I have for this outstanding location. The only reco I have for the hotel or for a visitor is that the air conditioner is not great. It can definitely be improved, but with the right expectation, you will be fine. Everything else in the hotel is too great to have this be an issue.
Location and size of room
Bathroom was very moldy, front staff was unhappy except for one person. Wish I knew her name
Location, close to the major vantage points.
The AC is not really strong enough to keep the warm cool. And the bathroom floor seems to be heated at the height of summer.
Great location. We were minutes from Piazza San Pietro and great restaurants. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices. The staff were friendly, helpful and provided excellent recommendations for meals. It was expected, but know that staying in a cave, it was damp. The room cooled down in the evening and was fine for sleeping.
Parking off site is a drawback but we knew this going in, so if you know in advance, not a bad thing. Use the instructions to get to the hotel that are given by the staff. The GPS takes you a long, stair-filled way :)
The location was good enough to walk around the sassi area. Cave room is nice to stay as I can imagine when booking.
The internet doesn’t work in most of the part in the room for both Wi-Fi and the mobile network like 4G or 5G. My room number was #5.I needed to connect the internet, I move to the entrance area of the room, where there’s no chair, or I needed to go outside of the room, where there are terrace chairs and tables.
Spacious rooms, excellent location , very friendly & helpful staff.
Delicous breakfast, clean quiet rooms, lovely rooms.
Location
No help with bags (different from other neighbor hotels), Couple bed not comfortable as mattress was dipping in the middle, bugs at the sofa, Breakfast ok it was pleasant and very pricy for what this brings as value to the customer.
We enjoyed everything about the property: great location, comfortable bed, spacious room, breakfast was delicious. It was nice having the bar so we could get a beverage & sit outside. Staff was outgoing & friendly, helped us with what to see & had maps.
Parking offsite is the only drawback, but us the norm for staying in the “old town.” We learned we could drive up to the hotel to load our luggage upon checkout if we were out of the old town by 10:00 am, which was very helpful.
The room is very nice and clean. Located in the middle of old city
There is no parking available at the properly. You need to find a paid parking outside of old city . Very difficult to reach the property , especially if you have luggage…. And if it is hot outside - it is not pleasant at all. While searching the property , one of criteria was “free parking” and this property came up in the results.at the day of arrival, host sent instructions that I need to find a parking outside and pay for it.
The room was large & spacious bathroom with shower & toiletries. Great location, can walk to all the sites & restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly & helpful, can book reservations for you, etc.; large selection of breakfast items. They also have a bar if you wanted a beverage.
You need to part outside the old town, which is typical, however, you may drive up before 10 am & get your luggage, which is helpful.
