Locanda Di San Martino Hotel & Thermae Romanae

Location was wonderful. Unique rooms and the spa was very nice. And the air conditioning was great and a must have for Matera in the summer.

The bed was very uncomfortable. Basically like a hard futon and since you¿ll be walking a lot and up and down stairs etc, you need a good place to rest.

Everything! The location, the views, the pool!! A welcome basket of fruit when we arrived, lovely and enormous breakfast, great staff. Telling time by the cathedral bells. Just perfect in every regard.

We liked everything about this hotel. When we parked our car in the parking garage, we called the hotel and they quickly sent driver to pick us up. It would be a big hassel if there is no shuttle. When we entered the lassi, we were mesperized by the view. Going to our room, we found our balcony has the panaromic view of the lassi! Our room is spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything is perfect.Breakfast is in a large cave, with live piano performances. There are many food choices too.

Can't stay for longer

Everything! It was very comfortable, clean and spacious. We fell in love with the surroundings and town.

Unique spa facilities, beautiful surroundings, Matera at night is wonderful!

The hotel is perfectly located in the Sassi district. We were able to walk all over and really see a lot of Matera. The hotel was well thought out and very welcoming. Breakfast was a wonderful spread and a great way to start your day. We were able to make an appointment for the spa use and it is something not to be missed. The pools in the cave were magical, peaceful, and wonderful for getting a relaxing time.

The only thing we would have changed would be the pillows. They are paper thin and not at all comfortable. The mattress on the bed wasn’t the best but I think with some new pillows it would have been a lot better.

WOW WOW WOW!! The cave rooms were amazing! breakfast was good with plenty of options but not a lot of Gluten Free. staff were kind and helpful. Beds and jacuzzi were fantastic. worth the price just for the room!

Our room - was cozy and comfortable and very clean. We loved the view from our window that we kept open all night for the cool air. Also enjoyed the little seating area outside of our room. Though it was a shared space it was always available. Breakfast had a nice selection and I appreciated the gluten free goodies as well. Spa pool was also an experience I enjoyed.

No umbrellas to borrow… minor! But just odd to us.

Free transfer from Parking outside limited traffic zone (ZTL) to the hotel very quick and effective. Breakfast very good.

The property was absolutely gorgeous! Room was big and bathroom was very big and beautiful.

Nothing everything was perfect

The hotel was in a great location. The breakfast offered a wide variety, and we appreciated the convenience of having someone assist us with our luggage upon arriv

Air conditioning difficult to control

The location, breakfast and spa facilities were all excellent! The complimentary shuttle to and from the parking garage was much appreciated. Our travel companion’s upgraded room, that was larger and one level up from ours, had a nice table outside their door with an amazing view where we enjoyed cocktails before dinner. The “golden hour” in Matera is spectacular!

Our room was satisfactory but had two precarious steps up to the bathroom which were managed but not ideal for us. We would upgrade next visit.

It was stunning - nestled into matera which is stunning . Gorgeous room in an arched cave - beautiful spa and beautiful breakfast.

How to find the location was difficult with luggage . Take the van !

Close to city center and restaurants

Musty smelling and car park was 10 min walk with luggage. Only to find out they would help with a van

Separate from hotel. Thought we’d reserved parking but didn’t. Then tried walking to the hotel. Call them they will pick you up. Super hot so wanted to drink a beer from the mini frig but no opener.

It’s an enchanting place. Fantastic views unique atmosphere, and amazing location. Kind and helpful staff.

The bed was too soft for me but once they removed the topper it was fine.

Exceptional service and room. The dépendance guest house was spacious and very comfortable for a family of five. Included breakfast buffet was excellent. All the staff we met from check-in to checkout was helpful and welcoming.

We were a family of 5 and had a fabulous room in a cave with a beautiful bath tub. Loved the location and Matera was just magical. Highly recommend this hotel. Sadly we didn't have time for the Thermal.
