    Pros +

    • Beautiful reception area and beautiful aesthetics in the delux apt that we stayed in, the location was perfect to see what is like to be in the Sassi zone. Would highly recommend staying here
    • This delightful and unique hotel was a highlight of our trip. All the facilities and hospitality from the host Antonio were second to none. Located in the centre of the old city we walked to all the vantage points to see this incredible location. A bonus was the excellent local red wine sold exclusively through this venue!!
    • This is a beautiful property with a good location if you follow the property’s directions to take the shuttle service from the parking area they recommend. Prebook!!! I made the mistake of thinking I could walk. Also if driving to matera only bring in your clothes that you need for the stay and leave the rest in your car.The breakfast was amazing ? Also highly recommend a hike into the ravine

    Cons -

    • Two things . The bathrooms are very poorly designed with high end fixtures but you must go thru the shower area to use the sink and toilet. So you wet your socks every time you use the toilet. They must move the shower to the rear and move the sink to the front. This is a problem in other apartments that they rent.
    • The shower . It is tough not to get the room wet
    • Bed was a bit hard. I didn't like the breakfast table.

Room was great. We got in before the published check-in time. Staff was fantastic and very accommodating. Room was very unique and very quaint. Breakfast was good. Good location but seriously great staff.

Bed was a bit hard. I didn't like the breakfast table.

Amazing place. The staff fantastic. Maristella went above and beyond. She made sure breakfast was ready early as we had to leave early

Need more hooks and shelves. Knobs difficult to turn in shower

Beautiful property and apartment was magical. The glass of wine upon arrival was lovely and breakfast was fantastic. Staff were extremely helpful.

    Location, staff, room

Bathroom set up strange. No counter space. Sink Faucet odd couldn’t get hot water without water pressure too high. Shower faucets sprayed all over Into other room.

A unique and memorable stay in an incredible location — smooth check-in, helpful information, and a dinner at the owners’ restaurant across town is a must!

    10MariannePosted on: 5-19-2025

We just love the whole place, location, pool, food and very friendly staff. We would love to come back.

Nothing Better about the place but we needed a car to get around in Tuscany and didn't have it.

    Like a cave

No in room privacy. One shower wall that was just glass. Traveling with cousin.

Stunningly gorgeous! Wines are superb! Staff (especially Antonio) took wonderful care of us for our wedding anniversary. Cave room was like nothing we have ever experienced before. Coffee was perfect (we love coffee) and breakfast was spectacular. All our friends want to go there now!

    10AmyPosted on: 4-29-2025

The cave rooms were stunning and the hotel itself was amazing - from breakfast to the wine tasting they hosted for us. It was all amazing!

Great location, beautiful room large and well furnished, very helpful staff

Breakfast could be improved (cold scrambled eggs weren’t great)

We had our breakfast in the main area/big table, the breakfast room was amazing. The rooms were great, beautifully decorated and the location was perfect.I would have enjoyed staying for a drink after dinner in the reception/main area (closes at some point) since those common areas are just incredible.

    Leaving the hotel.

Amazing stay. Staff super friendly. Especially Maria Stella who helped as at breakfast and even helped us map out my next few stop in Bari. We booked through booking.com and the hotel advised us of a few lots we could park in. We walked from Damascus parking lot to the hotel (a bit tricky but it only took 10 minutes and google maps worked well). On arrival, we were welcomed with a nice glass of wine, room was ready before check in time and check out was a breeze. Breakfast was excellent and served in a super cool room. Will definitely return to this hotel and recommend to others.

Location was absolutely spot on, in the middle of historical centre but easy access from taxi - no walking along lots of cobbled streets dragging a case!Private balcony with bistro style seating perfect for people watching and sun bathing.

Shower temperature was difficult to regulate. No complimentary tea/coffee in room.

    10SophiePosted on: 4-3-2025

Our stay was absolutely superb! The room we had was really big with more than enough space and breakfast was really good value for money. All of the staff from the moment we arrived were amazing; incredibly helpful, booked restaurants for us and Marisella who hosted our wine tasting was incredible! Highly recommend the wine tasting - the value for money was exceptional. We all loved our stay and would highly recommend to others.

The only two things I would have loved was a floor length mirror in the bedroom and a dressing gown but they are both tiny things! The hotel is fabulous but would’ve loved these two things as well

Excellent location and a beautiful room. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality.

A very small thing, but I wish the bathroom had more places to hang a towel and that there had been somewhere to put a suitcase.

    9TaoPosted on: 3-18-2025

The staff are excellent. Maristella at the dining room helped me cut any fruit I like for breakfast, 4 to 5 times, very patient and quick. (The fresh fruit choices are many.) She also listened well to my needs of tea. Thank you, Maristella for my wonderful breakfast! Antonio at the reception is so welcoming. He gave me detailed advice for touring and room facility. Thank you, Antonio. Also a lady at the front desk helped me on my key (sorry I did not know her name).

The wooden door of No.1 can be designed more tightly to block the bright street light at night.

Elegant residence with rooms in typical sassi of Matera, all renovated facilities and modern decoration in the historical downtown. Good breakfast
