OMG. The room was out of this world! Amazing to sleep in the caves! Very big room and the decor is just exquisite. Everything about this hotel was just an incredible experience. The SPA also was awesome and the massages incredible!! A must in Matera!

The location was perfect!!! The staff were so helpful and accommodating!!!Big thanks to Roberta who sooo speedily answered all my questions pertaining to parking as I was in transit towards the property. We loved the spa!

The bartender said they were out of bourbon.

Loved the room in the cave hotel.

You only get an hour at an included price for the spa/hot tub. Not all jets were working while we were there so that was disappointing. Safe in room wasn’t working as well.

    Unique, clean, Amazing!

Spa/pool second visit is financially preventative. Not worth $150 USD

The breakfasts were fabulous, the staff helpful and the location perfect! The beds were very comfortable, and the facility was very clean throughout.

Wish there had been towel hooks in bathrooms

The room was amazing and the staff were exceptional. We also loved swimming in the spa and relaxing in the saunas.

A few improvements: When coming with a car, no one told us that because it was a holiday we could not drive down to get our things and that we would have to pay 25Euro to have someone drive us 4 mins to our car. That was incredibly upsetting, and had we know the price we would have walked. Breakfast: I think the breakfast could have had better options and no one told us we could order things for the wait staff - when we asked and they just pointed to the open area of common food. Spa Services: We also got a massage and they did not ask us about pressure, it was very light and nothing changed when we said more pressure would be appreciated. For the price, I think the spa services should be as exceptional as the hotel.

All of the staff that we had the pleasure of interacting with were extemely pleasant and helpful. The room was exactly what we wanted--a cave with modern conveniences. Breakfast was great. The location is exactly where you want to be in Matera.

unique setting, rooms were well done, spa offering was nice, food & beverage staff very friendly & helpful

For the price I paid, I felt there front desk staff and definitely the SPA desk staff could have been more helpful and "anticipated" my needs consistent with what you experience in 4-5 star resorts. This place charged those rates, but the Spa desk didnt function with that level of trained service you would expect. On more than one occasion, I tried calling the spa from my room and received not answer, thus having to walk over to the spa myself to get my needs met.Again, very nice hotel, but I didnt think the service was at the level for the prices they charged and I thought the SPA was operated by a third party given the total lack of engagement/prompt attentive service I experienced there. I asked and I was informed that it is the same company.I would stay elsewhere if I visit Matera again.

The central location , good breakfast,

    1. One of the receiption lady was very roughed, the manager knows who it is, because I did complain to the manager, but she kept to explaining (on her side) about her staff s not friendly behavior. She is senior than the staff who served us , but she was not helpful at all , she should not working in a five star hotel 2. My toilet flush broken twice, especially it broken at 3am, three of us couldn’t sleep after 3am3. The hotel smells mplay

It’s one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed. Breakfast & dinner were included. The service was top notch. The staff were very friendly. The facility is so clean. The indoor pool was awesome. I love everything about this cave hotel. Elevator is also available.

The footpath surface doesn’t help because I traveled with a suitcase. It’s difficult to drag the suitcase around. It’s way better to arrive the cave hotel by taxi. I didn’t rent a car, but arrived Matera by bus & walk to the hotel.

unique cave accommodations spa- ie sauna etc was lovely breakfast was wonderful

caves were moldy, parking was an issue and getting our bags there was difficult- they said they would book dinner reservation- they forgot. They said they would send someone to fix safe- they did not. Room was noisy- people hanging out and smoking at scenic overlook on next level just above our room

Great location, very nice SPA. Comfortable bed. We'd like to have a second chair in the room. The TV could not be connected to Wifi. The staff was very nice, they brought a cake with a candle for my husband's birthday ?

The staff was professional, welcoming, and spoke excellent English, making communication easy for my girlfriend. We received an early check-in and a complimentary room upgrade, which was a great touch. The room was stunning, and the wellness center equally impressive, with a beautiful swimming pool and two relaxing saunas. Overall, the atmosphere and service exceeded our expectations.

The only real downside was the indoor wooden blinds in our room, which creaked throughout the night and made it hard to sleep.Another minor issue was our checkout experience. I wasn’t feeling well that morning, and while the receptionist was extremely friendly and enthusiastic, I would have preferred a more straightforward and efficient checkout process rather than an energetic discussion about things to do in Bari, our next destination. In that moment, a simple farewell and well wishes would have been more appropriate.

I wanted to stay in a cave hotel and wanted to use a cave pool. This hotel had both, and really integrated the rustic/traditional surroundings with a very high-end spa-like experience. The restaurant was quiet and cozy for dinner and the food was excellent, if pricy. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choices, both continental and American breakfast options. The front desk staff was helpful upon arrival, and made a spa reservation for me. The SPA is the best part. The grotto-like pool, the various jets and waterfall options. Very relaxing. The saunas were both clean and comfortable. The location was not particularly convenient with a car, but the hotel was very up-front about the car-restricted zone AND the best place to park to get to the hotel. They also had a shuttle if requested. I hope to stay here again some day.

When I received the "web check-in" email, it included a Google Maps link to the hotel. So I clicked it and turned on navigation in the car. The link is wildly incorrect. Not only did it not take me to the hotel - it took me to a completely different city an hour and a half away from Matera! Not knowing the area, I just followed the link they sent me and didn't realize anything was wrong until I arrived at the "hotel" and it was just a parking lot in a tiny town called Noepoli. I was annoyed that I had to turn around and drive another hour and a half to get to Matera after following the link they sent me. BUT weirdly enough, the drive to Noepoli was GORGEOUS - winding roads through the mountains with views and snowy peaks. The drive back from Matera where I DIDN'T go to Noepoli was not nearly as beautiful. So the wrong link wasted my time, BUT it also gave me a very scenic route through Pollino National Park!
