About

Located directly overlooking the sea along the picturesque stretch of coast between Livorno and Quercianella, Il Romito Hotel offers rooms with sea views and a restaurant featuring a terrace and panoramic indoor dining areas. Private parking is available free of charge and cannot be reserved in advance. The air-conditioned rooms are equipped with satellite TV and a private bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. The property offers an Italian buffet breakfast. Important: the rooms are accessible only via stairs, and the property does not have an elevator. The restaurant serves local seafood specialties—including traditional *cacciucco* (Livorno-style fish stew)—as well as à la carte dishes and pizza. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner on the panoramic terrace while admiring the sea and coastline. Il Romito is also known as one of the filming locations for the famous finale of the movie *Il Sorpasso*. The property is located approximately 2.2 mi from Quercianella and 6.2 mi from the center of Livorno. The "Calignaia" cove—a public pebble beach—is nearby, while the "Spiagge Bianche" (White Beaches) of Vada can be reached by car in about 20 minutes.

    Pros +

    • Location is amazing. It was few steps away from the beach. Amazing terrace with an amazing view.Property is well maintained.
    • Il Romito is, first of all, a fabulous (mostly seafood) restaurant smack dab located on the beautiful Ligurian coast just south-east of Livorno. The rooms are below the restaurant with both indoor and outdoor access. Parking is accessed by a narrow drive off the busy two lane coastal highway. The room had a good view of the cost and swimmers down below. Breakfast was above average in a very scenic dining room.
    • Very nice location (super close to Livorno) and view.

    Cons -

    • No room balcony.
    • We were greeted pleasantly by restaurant staff during a busy time of their day. The hallway to our room was dark and narrow like a tunnel and the room, while clean, shows its age and is on the small side. Come for the view and the outdoor scene, but especially come for the food!
    • Sweet Italian breakfast. Even though we knew the breakfast was going to be sweet, we still think savoury options would improve the quality of the stay.

Location …breakfast on terrace on our own was special.

I should have asked for another pillow as the 2 given were too flat, no real support.. ended up with neck/shoulder pain.Although our meals were tasty, they didn’t arrive together. My husband had to start his meal as the wait for mine was too long.

    Nothing in particular.

staff was very helpfull, prices and food was good. spectacular view

parking on the back side was good and hidden from traffic, but a bit rough ground there for the motorcycles

The location is great, close to the rocky beach. The restaurant on top is modern. The breakfast location with sea view was amazing.

The shower was terrible! Switching from very cold to very hot.The 1pers room was very basic nothing fancy or cosy. Until 24h there was a lot of noise from the restaurant on top.

The restaurant was amazing and good value for money

The only thing I could suggest to improve was the corridor to the rooms needs more ventilation or air conditioning

The location is wonderful and view from the big windows to the sea. Restaurant terrace is great and beautiful views.

Old hotel which needs renovating. Tha staff doesn't speak english much. Rooms were small and bathroom tiny with poor shower. Food was not great except pizzas, they were great. Breakfast was very small and "cakes"- type.

    - location, several nice beaches in walking distance. 102 bus stop is near.- nice staff.

Hotel needs renovation. - most of the rooms face parking, very noisy during night. From the other side there is a highway, so sleeping at night is a challenge. - windows are not sound proof. And can't be open because of smoke on the parking and security reasons (easy access from the street, same level). Also you hear everything from the crowded restaurant upstairs. - room is very small and basic. "Sea view" rooms face parking, smoking area or garbage cans with a very little of sea view in background.- extremely bad value for the price.- count that breakfast included is only sweet.

Lovely views from the restaurant and bedroom. It was quite wild and windy during our stay, so we didn't try a swim in the sea just below the hotel, but watched some amazing waves. There was an area to eat outside where we had breakfast. The room also has mosquito netting which is a great idea for other times. The hotel had been used in 60s cult film The Easy Life / Il Sorpasso which was interesting to watch. No noise from the nearby road. A great drive there with some dramatic coastline where the sea produced some huge waves. There were some areas to pull in and admire the scenery.

The bread at dinner was a little dry, but perhaps that was the local style? It was fine at breakfast.Everything else was fine.

    Location.

Management, cleanliness, attitude, I am disgusted you even recommend such a shabby hotel in Management and quality.

    10MarthaPosted on: 7-18-2022

The location was amazing and all the staff was very kind and always wanted to help!

What i didnt like was the lack of information on how to get to their location if you dont have a car. That is not necessarily their fault. It should be noted that the closest train station has no taxis, no one working in the ticket office. So, i was stranded. It was Il Romito that sent someoto pick me up.

Ocean view, aircon, quiet - nice emplyees!

“Air” (small) from downstairs toilets goes directly up the stairs in the middle of the restaurant - kind of a romantic turnoff
