    Pros +

    • Clean, comfortable, central location excellent staff. What more do you need. A complentary breakfast..yes you get that aswell. Don't hesitate to book excellent value for money.
    • Had a great stay, when I checked in there was an issue with the room I had booked so I was upgraded to a suite--no complaints here. Room was extremely comfortable with all the amenities you could ask for.
    • I loved the location, as it's around a lot of tourist attractions as well as a short walk to the river and all the bars and restuarants. The bed and room area was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was perfectly fine and clean. I loved the juliet balcony, it was just cool to stand outside and see Porto. I didn't use the communal spaces but from the look of them it was clean and well stocked. The staff were also really nice and welcoming.

    Cons -

    • 4th floor walk-up could be very exhausting. Luggage room was left wide open, which could be concerning for storing your items beforehand/afterwards. The location is fine given its proximity to the Ribeira but I think if I were to stay in Porto again I would stay a bit more norther, as it was a huge trek uphill each time to go to the downtown areas where all the shopping and restaurants are located.
    • The room is small, which is fine for a solo traveler but with two people it would be difficult to fit luggage and personal things for two people in the room.
    • No elevator, so good luck if you bring big luggage like us. But overall the room is very comfortable with good view

    Comfy and clean room

No elevator, so good luck if you bring big luggage like us. But overall the room is very comfortable with good view

It is a lovely family owned and operated hostel with special touches like homemade jam and baking for breakfast. Very clean and attended to, with reception coverage from the morning to later evening. Excellent location in Ribeira.

    Nothing mentionable.

They stole my money and made me pay for a service that I did not use at all

They have the stupid policy of checkin before 11 pm, after that it would not be able to enter

A very Porto, Portugal vibe. Best location in the city for price. Staff are always warm and you feel like you’re welcome to home if you return. The buffet breakfast down below is very simple but more than adequate and in a very lovely environment. if ambience and casual shabby chic is what you prefer then you’ll like this place 100%.

There’s nothing to dislike. The prices have spiked in the last couple years to a level that makes it difficult to justify the price for those of us who are looking for modest priced lodging. Walls are paper, thin and listening to the neighbors talk or being intimate is.

Friendly and prompt communication from the staff. The breakfast was a great deal, and it had a variety of continental options. The location was perfect, right in the center of the city, and easy walking access to all the tourist highlights. The room was comfortable and clean.

A lovely mix of updated modern and old world charm. The staff are delightful, friendly and super helpful. As an older, solo traveler I appreciated that there wasn’t a party atmosphere and it was quite at night.

Loved the suite on the top floor with a small kitchenette and dining table. The views were magnificent.

Everything, excellent location, very comfortable, great customer care, nice breakfast. I wish we had private bathroom though.

    9VivianPosted on: 10-7-2025

Small but comfortable room in a good location for downtown.

Can’t compliment Being Porto Hostel enough. Incredible and accommodating staff who ensure every aspect of your stay is great. The wonderful breakfast ($) is well worth it - a great variety of foods shared with an even greater variety of like-minded, seasoned travellers. Location was ideal, in the heart of Porto, close to all sights and public transportation. As noted in previous reviews: not for those with mobility restrictions.

Nothing but positive feedback for this accommodation.

Safe space, location is amazing, the front desk are the best! The staff are very welcoming and kind and honestly helps a

Paid for a private bathroom and didn’t get one til the second day but we couldn’t lock it from the outside so they had to put a sign on it. Would’ve loved fir the owner to get it repaired asap

This place is really clean. Everything is nearby; the metro, bars, cafes, etc.I needed to go to the bus depot and the metro was really handy.Thank you

A historic old building right in the center of everything. We bought transit passes on our way in - and did not need to use them once.

AC would have been nice - but the balcony doors combined with the fan provided plenty of evening comfort.

The property was in a great location and the staff was amazing. We had the double bed room with a private bathroom which was nice. The bathroom isn’t attached so a little difficult going back and forth but it was clean and a good size bathroom. The beds were just enough for 1 person as well. The rooms were just a little small so not a lot of space to have your luggage/backpacks, but other than that it was great. The lobby sells water, soda, and bottles of wine for the best price around.

The rooms were just smaller than a lot of the other rooms in hostels that we’ve stayed at for similar pricing and there’s no a/c with just 1 fan. During summer time it’s a little tough.

Location was excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

    ÑA. Everything was great.
