    Pros +

    • Location, character, and staff
    • Great location, surprisingly quiet room. Plenty of space for our luggage, plus a small table helped us feel like we could spread out. Fast wifi. Nice little glass of port upon arrival.
    • Location!

    Cons -

    • The bathroom was rather small, especially the shower.
    • Reception area a little dark & uninviting
    • It's a minor issue. A better shower curtain that didn't envelop you inside the tub. Not really a complaint in light of how well everything else presented.

Excellent location, super-friendly staff, great check in, great shower, huge bed.

Reception area a little dark & uninviting

The room was delightful, the bed was very comfortable. We were completely blown away by the breakfast, especially, the care with which the servers performed their duties.

Good sized rooms, very central, excellent breakfast.

Great hotel in a very central location and within a lovely traditional building. Our room was spacious and well furnished, the bathtub was a definite highlight! Breakfast had a great selection!

Property was scammed ahead of our arrival, which led to our private information being leaked. We did not receive any information about this and had to track this back to them ourselves.

Super nice hotel, incl. very friendly staff, huge rooms with amazing shower and extremely comfy beds, nice views of the city, and very good breakfast (they were out of pastels de nata when we arrived for breakfast so they specifically ordered some for me, plus had a huuuuge selection of gluten free pastries for my wife who is celiac)lastly, late check out at 12 which is not common :) highly recommended

A good location for exploring the city. Nice clean rooms. The building has retained the character of the old building. Plenty of choice for breakfast.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Porto. Stayed in Suite 107. Absolutely immaculate. Highly recommended. Superb location. Around a 5 minute walk to Sao Bento Station and 5 minutes down to Cais de Ribeira by the river.

location, location location oh and staff and rooms!

Team breakfast just need to give it a little rethink - was good, but could be excellent.

    10RobertPosted on: 1-20-2026

The location allowed us to visit many places without being remote to any one area. Our room was well taken care of by the cleaning staff and had a nice view. The breakfast had a wonderful selection and the wait staff were very accommodating.

The shower water temp was hard to adjust and was very hot but I managed to figure it out in the last day. Still, better hot than cold in my book.

Incredible location. So easy to walk everywhere. Loved the room - very spacious and clean. Desk staff were helpful booking transfers, restaurant recommendations, etc. Great restaurant on location that had delicious vegetarian options for my daughter.

Very nice hotel with comfortable rooms

It was very loud all day and into the night on the square out front. That’s not the hotel’s fault, but it’s not a good location for someone seeking a calm and quiet stay. The noise did stop around 11pm each night.

The location is very central and close to a lot of attractions within the city- the Ribeira district where most stuff is located. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was great.

The room is quite small for two people.

Breakfast was very good. We had an excellent dinner there.

Staff was very indifferent. No help with luggage and there was no flat entrance. Our room was very small and awkward. The shower was next to the bed. The location was great.

Perfect central location half way is the hill from the Douro. It was at the lower end of flower street that was filled with shops and eateries. Regular live music played daily right outside the hotel until 10 PM. The room was cozy but comfortable. We did take a train to Braga. The Sao Bento train station is an easy 10 minute walk away.

Construction for the new pink line metro was across the street. It was a bit of an eyesore. The lobby could use 4 more chairs. It would require shrinking the print museum/shop right there in the lobby.

We had a wonderful stay at Porto AS 1829 Hotel and would gladly return. The location is outstanding: set in a quiet, civilized, and charming area, yet perfectly connected within Porto’s historic center. It’s just a pleasant 10-minute walk to the Douro riverfront, very close to Dom Luís I Bridge, and also about 10 minutes on foot to the main public transport hub near São Bento station. Everything is accessible without the noise and crowds. The staff is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, always ready to assist with recommendations or any request, which made us feel truly welcome. The hotel is immaculately clean, and the room was beautifully and practically furnished, combining comfort with tasteful design. The continental breakfast was excellent and varied, with fresh options and very good coffee, a great way to start the day.Things to keep in mind: as the hotel operates in a historic building, which is part of its charm, some rooms may not have a balcony, and the shower—although modern, beautiful, and well equipped—is not very spacious. For us, this was a minor detail and did not affect the overall experience.Overall, a fantastic boutique hotel in an ideal location, offering comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Porto.
