    Pros +

    • Short stay, would have preferred a room in main house.
    • Beautiful facility hidden behind a wall! Great location, super helpful staff, updated comfortable rooms
    • The property is a renovated former castle with multiple buildings, kind staff, and a great location relative to the city.

    Cons -

    • Pool area was disappointing. For the size of the hotel it should have more chairs.
    • The smell. Clearly originating in the air ducts, this smell was not only impossible to avoid or get rid of, it was so bad it gave my husband and my daughter migraines and drove us crazy trying to ignore it. This place needs serious maintenance because that smell was unbearable.
    • The pool was too cold for my preference. Yes we were there in early October. I did however see several brave individuals either swimming laps or taking a dip.

Central but quiet. Boutique- not small but not a lot of rooms. Pleasant surroundings. Extremely nice staff. Nice bar and restaurant.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and facilities. Nice convenient location to walk to cafes, restaurants and city attractions. Sauna was great too.

Loved the property the story behind it. Old restored palace made into an extremely comfortable hotel, still upholding the historical details and designs. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

The hotel is a beautiful jewel in Porto. The patio area/bar; the pool; dining room was gorgeous and the rooms were clean and the staff were wonderfully warm. I cannot say enough of this place - I loved it!!

    There wasn’t anything I disliked!

The one bedroom suite was HUGE, with a lovely massive outdoor deck with chairs.

It was fabulous! Tranquil grounds but close to everything. Staff were wonderful. Porto is a great city. Will visit again.

I love the aesthetics of the property. it is beautiful. The staff!! Amazing. Very responsive and kind.

The bed was kind of lumpy---and the sheets were too warm for this time of year. The bathroom had limited shelves for my things. I stayed a week so my needs would be different than someone who is there for 2-3 days. WIFI was spotty outside of the room; would have loved to be able to work in the lounge or by the pool. Could have some "concessions" for longer stays-- like a happy hour port.

The hotel was beautiful! The location was perfect walking distance to so many things yet you felt secluded when you were on the property. It was safe, clean, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend a room overlooking the pool with a balcony.

I thought breakfast was included when I booked through booking.com (one of the reasons we chose the hotel), but it actually wasn't.

It was absolutely beautiful inside out and especially the breakfast area was royal! We had a ground floor room with the greenery in front of it, was splendid! The parking they have provided next door was very helpful to us as well since we had a car.

The location was excellent, close to many shops, bars and restaurants. Even the shopping area which is called Santa Caterina is like 20min walking. The hotel and rooms are clean, the staff are always making sure that u have everything u need.

We stayed for 3 nights and I expected that the breakfast will differ a little bit from a day to another.I didn’t like that there were only 7 sun-beds near the small pool so we couldn’t spend some time there during this heat wave :) The rooms are considered small. At the lobby bar, only one young lady is working and she is supposed to serve 20 people at the same time because at night it was nice to sit outside.

The hotel staff overall were helpful are responsive. I also loved the dining space design and the dinner dishes, the historic artwork around the outdoor space.

The staff in the restaurant were too loud among each other to the extent other guests as me specifically during breakfast time we came staring at the service room. I would have enjoyed quittance or simple music rather than hearing staff arguing or having loud talks.

Old palazzo vibe , very nice building; central location and spacious and clean rooms

The receptionists : slow not knowing the system and only talking about payment and money as like we don’t know that the stay needs to be paid: it already gives a very poor first impression. Same experience for breakfast. It’s not worth the 5 stars in terms of customer experience. Also not very secure the entrance is open all the time not no card secured elevator to access the rooms and the passage for rooms seems always open. When you look at the neighborhood it’s not reassuring.

The property was beautiful. The trees were in bloom the gate and the walkway were very inviting.

Once you were down the beautiful driveway the landing had a dirt landing with dying trees.

Loved everything -- lovely historic palace property with modern guest rooms wing, amazing little pool in a beautiful garden, lovely interior design, great bathrooms, sexy bar and terrace, a most gorgeous dining room in former ballroom (menu limited, could be better).

    Nothing, liked everything!

Being off season it was lovely and quiet. Great nights sleep!

After experiencing staying there I understand the one-on-one attention especially during check in. I understand the need to be walked to your building and room, love that detail of service! Unfortunately, it was always the ladies at reception walking guests to their rooms. Because of that, there were several times the reception desk was unmanned. This then caused other guests and delivery people to wait long periods of time to check in or drop off. It wasn’t until the last day of our stay that we even saw a young lad that helped us put our luggage in storage for the day. The only other thing that’s comes to mind is every morning at breakfast there was a big clash of plates that must have fallen and broke… EVERY morning! ?

The hotel was outstanding in every way but unfortunately located in a very run down part of the city with no transport links other than Uber taxis (which were very cheap gladly as we used them every day!)

The hotel was an oasis within a cultural desert but you got used to it!

    3EnricoPosted on: 4-23-2025

The historical building is nice, the staff were courteous.

Unfortunately the hotel is quite simply not a 5*. This would be an excellent 4* property, but nowhere near 5.- The rooms are small, and cheaply made. The suite is big with a big terrace but the deluxe room is very small for a 5*. The fitout is poor, you can tell the quality is simply not there in the material, the finishing and the furniture.- the rooms have either a poor fresh air supply system, or don’t have one. Regardless of the AC it quickly becomes stuffy and clammy in the rooms.- the rooms were in the modern extension. A concrete shell with no character whatsoever with none of the “palatial” character of the property. (For clarity, I’m an architect and I develop hotels; I love bare structures, but this is simply a poor one)- The small rooms don’t even have a nespresso machine (the suite does), and you are provided with a bag of soluble nescafe…- The shower doors don’t close properly, so you flood the floor. The reusable dispensers throughout. Good for sustainability but poor value. The shower- the gym is minuscule and poor equipment, both quality and quantity- the reception is extremely tight and there is no arrival experience as you need to walk in with your bags around the courtyard and into the lobby.- they take payment on arrival even though they take a guarantee card- they then brought a POS in the room with the room service… (is this a joke? What are going to do, run in the middle of the night with my 70 year old father to avoid paying 20 bucks after having spent 2k in a couple nights for the rooms?)- breakfast has a poor offering- the pool is a very small plunge in a very constricted courtyard.- housekeeping knocked incessantly multiple times every morning even though we asked them to return later; there was no dnd in the room to hang and we had to ask for it.- if this was not enough, they decided to pressure clean the concrete courtyard 9am right under the balconies.
