Pros +
- Lovely staff, good size room, wonderful sea view, more than adequate breakfast, would recommend.
- Hotel Portofoz has a lovely water view of the sea; a close walk to the beach and is also very close to the city center by bus. Easy access to restaurants, shopping and grocery/supermarket. Hotelier Jorge was very welcoming, accommodated our late check-in at close to midnight with a smile and helped my elderly mother with her luggage. Lovely nightcap of port and fascinating conversation on our last night. Jorge personally made up a complimentary continental breakfast tray of bread, cheese, jam, butter and teas for our early pre-dawn morning departure. Superb attentiveness to the little details!
- I want to start by saying the staff at the hotel were some of the nicest people working in a hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. Also, the location was superb. We could see the ocean from our balcony and it was easy to walk to many restaurants and shops or take public transport to other areas. The breakfast was generous.
Cons -
- However, the building and room were super dated and at one point we had ants. If we were traveling as a couple, maybe it would have worked better, but we were with our two large teens, and the trundle bed just wasn't comfortable for adult-sized people. Plus, our bed was hard.
- Bad Wifi and bad lighting
- Very noisy. Dog barked at night and construction on a building very close. No air conditioning in our room so had to have door and window open at night. After the first night I asked for a fan and that helped greatly.

Views of the river/ocean! Clean, quiet, great host!
That we had to leave after only one night!!
It was near beautiful ocean walks. My room was lovely with a balcony and fantastic bathtub and shower. Breakfast was ample. The staff were warm, wonderful and helpful.
Beautiful room with incredible views of the ocean! Hosts were accommodating in letting me check-in early, which I really appreciated. When Fatima heard I had a super early morning flight the next day she went out if her way to pack me a breakfast bag full of food to take to the airport. I truly cannot say enough about this place, it was exactly what I needed on my last night in Porto! Perfect for Camino walkers, btw.
We was there as family with kids. Best view on the ocean. Very good stuff George and Fatima are the best! Very cosy very comfortable. Very warm, 2 electric heaters in the room and they turned it on in advance. Breakfast simple but also nice, we are like it.
Clean room, friendly staff, location by the seaside. Facilities working and clean.
The room looked a little dark, breakfast included but not a lot of options.
The location, a few meters away from the beach, and restaurants/shopsA few kilometers away from the tramway who goes to porto centerThe staff and the owner are very friendly!I highly recommend this place!I'll be back for sure!
Simple breakfast very acceptable
The lobby and the rooms had a musty smell
one of the best locations in Porto: the beautiful beach, the bus stops to the old town/city centre are close, grocery stores, pharmacy and restaurants are near. the room was cozy, and tidied and cleaned properly every day.the direct view to the ocean from the room: mesmerizing.the staff done over-the-top service to make me feel comfortable there: thank you Fatima & Jorge : )
I can't recommend Portofoz highly enough! From the moment we arrived, George and Fatima made us feel so welcome – it was like coming home. Fatima went above and beyond to help us with every detail of our stay, while George was incredible in recommending activities and even assisting us with late check-in, train line information, and the history of the area. The location is absolutely perfect, just steps from the beach, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The room was cozy and comfortable, and the shower was fantastic – just what we needed after a day of exploring.Portofoz is not just a hotel; it's an experience, thanks to the wonderful team and their exceptional hospitality. George and Fatima truly made our trip unforgettable. We will definitely be back!
Clean, great location, staff was the best.
Staff is down to earth amazing, price is fair!
Bidé drains slow, shower is stained … minor things
Patricia made our trip exceptional. She was gracious, and extremely helpful. The breakfast was good, the facility is a bit out of the way, however their Bolt (uber) system was very hood.
The step up in the bathroom
Great location, wonderful view. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good public transportation approx. 3 miles from historic area.
Maybe not best hotel in Porto, but most authentic. Staff is brilliant, location is so quite. And thanks to Fatima we did not get additional fee because maybe mistake with our check out. Best staff ever!
Staff were very friendly. Very good location abd few steps close to beach
A bit far from the city center, but didnt mind it!
