Pros +
- Perfect location, good staff, very interesting atmosphere of the 70-80’ies
- Location was good for shops, bars, restaurants etc. McDonalds round the corner was handy after a night out. The room was clean, staff were friendly. Breakfast was standard for continental choice of cereal, tea & toast. The bar was limited with stock, rooms were dated but clean and comfortable for a short trip.
- Breakfast was limited but good.
Cons -
- Everything very old. Hung up the swimming trunks on the shower stall and they were stained with black unwashable machine oil. It was a pity. The breakfast is ok , nothing great , simple and basic
- The weather
- Room was cold with only an oil filled radiator. The small electric heater in the bathroom didn't work and the window wouldn't close shut so there was a constant draft making the room very cold.

Polite staff
No kettle in room to make hot drinks, door was a sliding door so could see the hall way light and hear people in the hallway
The only thing I like is its location, just opposite to the train station, and with walking distance to key tourist attractions
Its facilities are quite old.
The amazing vintage decor and lovely staff. Great location. The room itself was basic but as expected for the price and clean so no complaints. Only 1 plug socket. No kettle.
Cozy old hotel with exellent position.
I missed fruits at breakfast and coffee was weak. I know in Portugal you make exellent Coffee!.This tästedes like instant coffee...Bread selection was great for toppings im used to some vegetables, for example tomato slices..
Excellent location, close to São Bento station, walking distance to some points of interest. The room was clean, and the bathroom was clean as well. Breakfast was simple, but it was delicious. The staff were polite and friendly (+1 to the staff serving breakfast, they were really friendly!). Regarding wifi, this is more an observation than a complaint - wifi disconnected several times. It wasn't a problem for me, because I was there for leisure, and I had mobile data, so it didn't bother me.
The room was a bit cold (I was there during winter) but the staff turned the heater on, so this is more an observation than a complaint.
Close to everything
Noisy outside. Windows needs to be fixed.
It was near the railway station.
Everything. The rooms are small and the beds even smaller. The rooms smelled of damp and bad drains. No Wi-Fi, No TV channels and no air con because reception had the controls. Breakfast was also very average.I paid for a superior double and there was NOTHING to think the room was superior in any way.Don't come here.
Nothing, it was truly awful.
Everything from start to finish. Tiny smelly rooms, tiny beds, tiny bathrooms. They have a cheek calling themselves 2 star. I left and booked a room elsewhere, which was cheaper and significantly better.
Hotel is located directly in the center of town (close to main square and train station). Price was very good.
The room was very old and smelly. Very basic breakfast (no food from eggs).
The room was clean as was the bathroom. Extra blankets were provided in the room. Nice staff at the front desk. 24 hour front desk was helpful for late night check in.
TV was fuzzy on every channel. Ruckus went on outside on the street level near the trash cans between 2 am and 5 am which woke me up both nights. No fitted sheet on the mattress, just a flat sheet that wasn't tucked in.

Great location, easy check in, big room
Thin walls, could hear inside and outside noise at all hours
The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel had a cool kinda creepy haunted house vibe to it, which I like.
Bed was quite hard.
Location, common rooms, and breakfast.
My room (437) was awful.
Beautiful old building in keeping with its historical heritage. The blue tiled wall mural in the entrance was magnificent. Reception staff were all helpful and patient and professional. The location offered all the sites of the Old City, a hop and a skip from the station, and being a keen walker, a good leg stretch down to the river. Churches, shopping and places to eat were all accessible.
Perhaps a little dingy in the foyer area upstairs. While my trip was about exploring Porto for the first time, a bit of downtime in front of the TV was to be expected in the evening. However the signal was poor for two of the nights and the last night, it didn’t work at all. The gentleman on reception did his very best, but no luck. I reported the issue the next day.
The location is very convenient just opp the Sao Bento station. DO note that there are construction works happening around the city and in front of the station. Breakfast is available daily.
The room we were given had mold issues on the wall. The room and bathroom were smelly with the musty smell. It is such a pity being at a good location - but this is a serious health hazard. We were only in the room at night after tours so just endured it.
Short walk to points of interest
It is possible to leave your luggage after check-out but it does not feel safe. The luggage is just left between the lift and the stairs. The receptionist can’t even see to it directly, which made us very worried about the safety. See photo below. The hotel is old and could benefit from some maintenance. The breakfast has very low quality. We didn’t have more than half a coffee before we decided to get food elsewhere instead.
