Hotel Il Faro

The people were nice and accommodating.

Extremely hard to get to. You must go down over 100 steep steps to get to the hotel and up those steps to get to any restaurants, shops or sites. The room is in need of serious renovations, especially the shower (very outdated) and bedding (old, itchy).

No coffee in room, no electric kettle

The staff was friendly for the most part specially the breakfast staff. The room I had overlooked the harbor and it was very comfortable. They are not set up for longer stays - you have to come to the lobby to get hot water for tea and I was denied it once but helped by another lobby attendant another time. Breakfast is the same everyday but the personnel weighting on people is superb! Great location !

Not set up for a long stay

Like that there's breakfast available, but it would be nice if they started earlier, so tourists could take an earlier boat schedule to explore other islands. I like that there's an elevator available especially with large luggage.

Earlier breakfast option, staff may need to be more welcoming with big smiles, nice to notify guests the bus option from the train station with clear instructions.

Beautiful setting at the port for ferry cruises to Capri, Amalfi Coast, and Naples. A good hike down from Sorrento Centro above, and hike back up to get into town. Very nice hotel with views across Naples Bay. Breakfast was sufficient, with barista preparing cappuccino and espresso as requested. Staff was very amenable to holding luggage when rooms were not ready, or after checkout before departing. Parking was provided by a valet service for 25 euro/night.

Room was a little tight with two larger suitcases. Set one up in the larger bathroom and it worked well for the two days there. Did not eat in the restaurants or use adjacent sky bar, but they looked very nice.

The hotel is located in the harbor, and slightly built into the rock. A breakfast was as for 3* hotel: scrambler, sausages, vegetables, croucines, coffee: all was OK.A car parking is valet parking for 25 EU per night.A ships ticket office is in 10 -15 meters from the entrance. It is very comfotable for people planning a day trip by ship to Capri island.

Figure out in advance the view from room - even it is said "a city view", there is no city view, but the rock only, or the gorge in the better case. I felt like I am a men of the undeground :). The safe's lock had a broken core, which I could take out and put in my pocket. Finally, there was no fridge in the room, even a smallest one for a can of beer.

I stayed at Hotel II Faro recently and honestly had a good experience. The location couldn’t be better. Friendly stuff

we were quite surprised to find some small insects in the bed sheets. I believe with more attention to cleanliness, this hotel could offer a much better experience for guests.

Beautiful hotel, great roof top, great location and staff

Hotel Il Faro is right in the port and is ideal if you are going island hopping. The facility is very clean, modern, and staff is friendly and helpful.Though in the port, the hotel is only roughly 8 minutes to the town center by stairs and almost the same time taking the Sorrento elevator.

Only comment I can make is that there is some noise from the hallways. I believe it is a function of the fact that the building is made of concrete and concrete bounces off sound and does not absorb it.However, this was not a deal breaker for me.

The property had a beautiful outdoor deck and lounge however you had to purchase food from the restaurant and it wasn’t open the entire time. It was right at the port so convenient to boat/ferry/taxi access.

Room was very tiny. Since it was at sea level by the port you either had to walk up a steep incline or take the bus for $5. Very loud location. Registration desk staff was not very helpful.

The VERY loud noise from the port starting at 4:00 am most days. The lack of services/accommodations. The size of the rooms and a bit of the cleanliness. some stuff was very helpful and some were not. They also charge additional fees for nonsense. To get anywhere you need to walk 10,000 steps.

Everything was easy access. Ports, shops, restaurants.

No elevator to get to the main town. Had to pay for public elevator every time. Too many stairs. Very load and busy.

The room was ok. It was pretty spacious and clean. Amaizing views from the rooftop bar. The breakfast in the morning was nice and fresh with many options. There is a shuttle bus stop right in front of the hotel, which will bring you to the city center for 2 euros per person. There is a taxi stop, too. The staff was welcoming and engaging.

The shower size is pretty small: it is about 2'x2' square. For a taller and larger person, it could be difficult to manage. Do ask about the size of the shower as you may be in for a surprise. There was no place to put a bag with toiletries in the bathroom. You will be better off if you get a taxi from the train station to the hotel. It is located close to the train station, but getting to the hotel on foot was difficult and confusing. My phone GPS was not able to navigate it well. We had to negotiate a lot of stairs going in. So, you have to be in good shape to accomplish this task with carrying your bags. There is an elevator somewhere from the street level, but we did not find it.

Great location, great view. Walking distance to Capri ferries. Staff helped us with car parking too. Highly recommended.
