About

The Imperial Hotel Tramontano, in the center of Sorrento, features a terrace with views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. It also includes grounds with an outdoor swimming pool and air-conditioned rooms. The elegant rooms at the Tramontano Hotel have either parquet floors or decorated tiles, and each features a satellite flat-screen TV and minibar. Some rooms also have views of the sea or the garden. The sit-down menu restaurant serves traditional Neapolitan cuisine in a sea-view dining room, and meals are prepared with seasonal ingredients. Drinks and light meals are available at the poolside bar. The grounds also include a 16th-century chapel, and an elevator goes directly to a partner beach. Sorrento Train Station, where guests can catch trains to Naples, is a 5-minute drive from the property. The Amalfi Coast is 19 miles from the hotel.

    Pros +

    • Location
    • fabulous view - if your room is on the water. Excellent location. Beautiful pool and secluded outdoor gardens to rest and relax. Attentive staff. Lovely breakfast each morning with splendid views of Mt Vesuvio. Nothing negative about the hotel or staff. I would stay there again!
    • Front desk telling us about the daily tours. Breakfast was very good. Gardens were beautiful.

    Cons -

    • Bathroom was older
    • Would have liked to have bottled water in the room.
    • I booked a triple room and ended up with one bed and a pull out sofa. That was the most uncomfortable sofa bed ever. I brought it to their attention and they said that was a double occupancy room. Way overpriced for the room situation. And they were so rude about everything.

Excellent location, right in the middle of downtown Sorrento. Rooms are big. Has a private elevator to access the beach, and from there you can reach the port in 5 minutes. As a hotel guest, you are supposed to have free access to the beach with free wifi and access to cabins for showers. However, the employees at the beach make you pay 50€ for sunbeds, even if you don't want to use them and just want to take a dip in the water.

The price is quite high for what you get in terms of services, quality and cleanliness of the facilities. We had paid for a triple room with 3 single beds, and got a double room in which they added a small folding bed after we arrived. Breakfast is ok, but doesn't offer a lot of variety.

If you are visiting Sorrento, do not hesitate to stay at this hotel, or at least stop by for an aperitif at its bar or restaurant, as it offers premium views over the Gulf of Naples. The hotel is exceptionally well located, just steps away from restaurants and shops, yet far enough to ensure quiet nights and truly restful sleep. The entire staff was attentive, helpful, and always willing to assist with any request.

Beautiful hotel, great location, great views, warm friendly staff, excellent breakfast.

They upgraded us to a room with a balcony overlooking the pool and garden an it was lovely! The hotel is very old world Italy with the main section dating back to 1544. It's been lovingly preserved and we loved the vibe. Our room was spacious and well appointed. They served the best breakfast of our 2 week trip through the Mediterranean. Very classy dining room. Staff was very helpful and we loved the location, easy walk to central area and restaurants, and activities. Would stay there again!

    Nothing!

The hotel is in a good location with very nice views.

No air conditioning even when it was included in the description of the room. Also, no fans were available.

Very clean , beautiful hotel and very friendly staff

Room could have been a little nicer but I’m just being pedantic because I’m used to 5 star plus

    10ErikPosted on: 11-7-2025

Exceptional views of Mt Vesuvius, Naples Bay, and the surrounding cities. The room was exquisite, close to a 5 star experience in my opinion. The location is perfect for Amalfi cost exploring, and Sorrento is an amazing city.

Very little, nothing I can think of easily.

    Location

They advertised having Air Condition but it was turned off, we opened the windows and the room was full of mosquitoes.

Very convenient, very clean, beautiful property

Some front staff could have been a little nicer.

Our stay at the Hotel Imperial Tramantano was fantastic! Our room was absolutely beautiful and the view was to die for. We had great interaction with all staff except the front desk (who were slightly grumpy) Walkable city and the shopping was not what I had anticipated (I had to buy another suitcase) The breakfast was excellent combined with the view, it just can't be beat. We would definitely stay here again. Very relaxing!

stayed mid October 2025This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location and wonderful service. We were upgraded gorgeous Executive suite room 411 with a large terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples and view of Mount Vesuvius. What a great surprise. The bed was very comfortable and roomy albeit the mattress was two smaller mattresses together which is a common occurrence in Europe. My husband and I are older so to have a comfortable bed and pillows is very important. We loved the breakfast which was very varied and extremely generous. Starting the day with a lovely breakfast and cappuccino and impeccable service was so appreciated. The service at the hotel was stellar including front desk and all the servers at the restaurant. We also found the location very accessible to both ferry travel and train ans SITA bus station. Just be aware that there is an elevator from the ferry port to city level when you arrive or depart by boat. Thank you for the lovely stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. It was so hard to say goodbye to Sorrento!

    Nothing!

Great location. Excellent restaurant staff. Good breakfast. Awesome views. Room was comfortable.

The hotel is dated and customer service was lacking. It was not worth the money spent. The front desk attempted to give us a room on the lower floor that had an odor to it. We paid too much money to be treated like that. I did not appreciate the attempt. While we were given a new room, there was no balcony and the room was very dark. There was not a thank you as we checked out…Wth!

We loved the location and access to the beach.

The location was perfect but the hotel itself felt dated. We also did not find the front desk staff to be very helpful.
