Pros +
- Great location. Big room.
- The location is amazing and the staff is very thoughtful and helpful. Breakfast is a cut above others we’ve had. I injured my leg while walking the Camino de Santiago and was having issues walking. The staff helped me throughout my stay so that I didn’t have to use stairs and even put a ramp out for me.
- Great location for my needs. Near Camino de Santiago path, Leon Cathedral environs and the train/bus station.
Cons -
- There is a quiet luxury about the hotel. It’s the third time we’ve stayed there, and we would not hesitate to stay there again. A little bit of the newness and luster has worn off over the years, but everything else about the hotel makes that easy to overlook.
- Better signage actually stating the “ Palacete Colonial” hotel name.
- Nothing. Totally recommend this hotel.

We stayed here on our previous leg of the Camino and chose to return to begin our next one. The beds here are among the most comfortable we have found while traveling, and the room was very clean. We had a wonderful balcony that was perfect for evening wine. Even though it faced the street, the room was very quiet. It’s also a very short walk into the historic center. The staff at the reception desk are always welcoming and helpful.
Beautifully appointed restored building. Rooms and bathrooms large and spacious. Really a wonderful hotel at a great price point.
Nothing. Totally recommend this hotel.
Clean and well situated
Hard to find door/main sign. Staff didn’t answer my message via booking and sent straight to voicemail. If the instructions said ring doorbell would have been extremely helpful. But staff was fantastic
Clean modern rooms.
Shower leaked onto the floor. Not soundproofed very well.
The location was super convenient for getting to/from the train station as well as close proximity to the main center of town and the Cathedral. The room was luxurious. The bathroom toiletries were great. Everything I needed for a home away from home.
Beautiful pension, stunning rooms, large comfortable beds, excellent breakfast (at additional charge), great location on a pedestrianized street a short walk to the old city, responsive staff.
Hotel is difficult to find if traveling by car, even with navigation. The parking garage is hard to see and if you miss it, you are driving on a street where regular car traffic is not allowed. Staff needs to send directions for getting to the garage with hotel reservation confirmation. Some staff have limited English so it was hard to communicate when we were lost. Routine driving instructions could have prevented stress for visitors & staff too.
Beautiful room, staff and breakfast.
Great friendly staff, beautiful property and room had a wonderful bed and other amenities. Wonderful location to visit the old city, and public parking very close
The location was central and close to the train station. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was large and clean.
Location is perfect, I am a Camino pilgrim and this was a great place to recharge after a lot of walking. I should have stayed 2 nights.
Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The location, staff, rooms and cleanliness. Our room faced the courtyard and was very quiet
Beautifully done. A modern hotel in a lovely old building. Comfortable and clean. Well located.
Nothing. All good
This is a lovely boutique hotel. I wish the name were more prominent outside but our room was lovely and breakfast was excellent. The Dyson hairdryer was an unexpected touch!
Luxury rooms and very good breakfast close to the old city center Very friendly service
Location, comfortable room
The ground floor reeks of air freshener perfumeThe rooms are not soundproof and the neighbours were noisy
Excellent location. Lovely room with excellent bed, furniture, TV, shower. Great service from reception.
Add a more visable sign out the front as we struggled to find the hotel based on Google maps. Also, make it clear where to push for entrance attention to open the main door. Especially for first-time visitors.
The location is good, halfway between the train station and attractions like Plaza Mayor and Barrio Humido.Large, beautiful, very comfortable room, great shower, good Wi-Fi and a great bed with a mattress that's neither hard nor soft, and a minibar.
It could have been a good place to stay, but the noise ruined everything.I chose this place thinking it was a hotel. In the app's filters it appears as a hotel. It's not. It's a bed & breakfast, without breakfast included. That's what they wrote themselves. The location is good, halfway between the train station and attractions like Plaza Mayor and Barrio Humido.Large, beautiful, very comfortable room, great shower, good Wi-Fi and a great bed with a mattress that's neither hard nor soft, and a minibar. But there's a serious problem, or at least there are in some rooms. The reception isn't open 24 hours.Whenever I book, I always ask for a quiet room.It seems like they gave me the noisiest one they had.The window faces a pedestrian street and the room is on the first floor next to the street and the reception. The windows are not soundproofed and people pass by the window all the time, talking loudly, from children to drunk people coming from the bars.As if they were inside the room.I complained to the lady who works at reception until the early evening and she said the hotel was full and they couldn't change rooms, because it was outside the deadline. She said that the noise would stop at 10pm.It didn't stop.I woke up several times in the middle of the night and when I went to sleep at 3am, I woke up at 6am to the screams of the last bar patrons returning home. Before, at 10pm I called the app and reported the serious problem of being in a room with the same noise as the street and the establishment not offering a solution. After call Booking. Com the lady at reception was more willing. She gave the option of a suite, but this one also faces the street. So she agreed to return it.Even so, of the amount euros paid for 2 nights, they returned less than 40% claiming that the first night was more expensive.
