    Pros +

    • I like the location - very close to the BBT ferry terminal thus it didn't take us time to travel. When we reached, there was someone from the hotel waiting to take us to the hotel even though we hadn't planned for it. It was a nice surprise and we loved it. The hotel has a free historic tour to tour the ship (which is also the hotel) - a unique experience for us to take a look into the 100 years heritage of the ship itself. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and nicely prepared, with all the amenities we need. We love the view from our cabin window - directly to the sea, just like we were sailing on the ocean (without the seasickness). We also enjoyed the swimming pool and the infinity view to the sea - it was great to watch the sunset from the pool, we can even spotted the heavy rain dark clouds in Singapore far away. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who travel to Bintan the first time like our family, where you can enjoy the resorts area with a reasonable price - a really good value-for-money acommodation.
    • Enjoyed the unique atmosphere of this ship converted to a hotel.. Staff was amazing, as was the food. Big breakfast buffet included with our room. Lovely infinity pool looking out over the ocean. Nice places to sit and relax.
    • I am very positive about everything: the food, the pool, the facilities. But most important: the people went out out of their way to make us feel at ease, they really want to make us come back!

    Cons -

    • The breakfast buffet was not that great with limited options, compared to the 5-star of this hotel. Maybe because we came during December - the low season when there were not a big crowd. I believe that during peak season or busier times, the buffet will be much better.
    • The bed was a bit firmer than we prefer, but we slept well. There is no town nearby, so this is a place to just rest and relax in nice surroundings.
    • There was no housekeeping during our stay, probably because of our stay coinciding with the Idul Fitri holiday weekend.

The Ship hotel is a unique experience. The stewards of the ship have managed quite well to maintain the feel of staying in a ship, even though it's berthed on land! A tour of the ship is a must!

There was no housekeeping during our stay, probably because of our stay coinciding with the Idul Fitri holiday weekend.

I love the uniqueness of this hotel - a ship built more than a century ago, a few years after the infamous Titanic. I love the warmth and smiles of the staff, the hospitality of the hotel owner Mr Eric Saw, the quiet retreat from city life, the ship tour, the Rijsttafel dinner, and even just looking out into the sea from our room's spacious balcony. My teens had a good time too! They enjoyed the pool, gym, and exploring the ship. If we had more time, we would have done the mudflat eco walk and gotten some massage. Thanks Doulos Phos for giving me, my parents and children such a memorable experience. Will visit again one day.

It was a wonderful experience. The ship held so much history, and I loved seeing the engine room. My husband, who used to be a sailor, really enjoyed it too. It brought back a lot of memories for him.

The ship is transferred to hotel. Also the maintain the most of the aspects of the ship. They had the tour of the ship which is very informative. Also the met the owner who looks very simple and humble.

    Not much. Restraunt bit expensive.

Resort style atmosphere and the hotel tour.

The room door is not sound proof. Even when our room door was locked , we can still hear voices from the hotel workers working at the corridors of the room.

    8TheodorePosted on: 1-5-2025

The location and the beautiful breeze at that time of the year..The story of the ship was also powerful..The ship is beautifully remodeled inside

The outside maintenance is a challenge with the rust constantly coming back

staff are really friendly and great! bfast is alright. pool is also nice, overlooks the sea. room is gorgeous.

not much benefit to staying to this hotel, we should have researched more - there's no beach despite being next to the sea. no convenience store, snacks within resort are expensive (4 SGD for coke), only one restaurant in the ship open, no activities other than the ship tour. it's so far and there's no grab/gojek in the resorts area, so the taxi fare to get anywhere is really expensive, overall our trip ended up exceeding our budget severely.

Unique stay in a historical ship. Novel experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Owners were present and friendly as well. Rooms were clean with good bedding and hot water. Nice pool, but pool bar was closed. Overall, it was an interesting stay, but improvements required before we'll return.

The breakfast selection was limited - no pancakes or waffles or cheese selection available. Limited variety of food. Fruit selection was also small, and fruit juices were made from cordial and not fresh juices. I was surprised that lattes and flat whites were not included in the breakfast buffet and would require additional charge. TV Channels were all Indonesian & unable to cast from phone to TV to watch from mobile. Room 404 also had some issues with the ventilation and AC.

Unique hotel, good size family room. Clean and comfortable. Sea-front cafe is the best

It was very convenient to get to from the ferry terminal. A quick 2-minute ride and you're ready for some relaxation. The room was spacious with a refreshing view of the sea! The staff were polite and very helpful with recommendations for activities. Massage services are competitively priced. Breakfast options were good! I really enjoyed their Eggs Benedict. The free heritage tour of the property is a good bonus if you would like to have a better appreciation of the piece of history that is MV Doulos. The shelves of books (with a wide variety of titles) at the hotel lobby was a brilliant detail! I enjoyed reading one of the books during our stay.

The property might seem to be a tad too quiet for others' liking, but it is perfect for guests like us who prefer rest over recreation. Perfect for retreats where the goal is to have a time of reflection, silence and solitude.

We had a magical 3d2n stay at the Doulos Phos hotel. Befitting of the moniker “ grand lady of the seas” indeed. We arrived on a sunny December afternoon. It was a 10 min short ride from the ferry terminal. So convenient. We were greeted by old school lobby that felt warm like a classic reading parlour replete with comfy sofas, a clarinova and books of different languages. Doulos Phos spells character from the start. What a wonderful greeting. Its unpretentious decor may seem frills free to some, but I had fallen in love with the welcoming space. Wide airy spaces envelop you with its dappled sunlight from the deck. The cabin feels positively spiritual. Our family of 4 loves the bouncy pillows and soft yet supportive bed. You can see intricate decor touches on the pillowcases and bath robes. And the sailor nautical touches abound Many new cookie cutter hotels don’t do this anymore. If the old world romantic in you craves for something more personal you may find it here. There is a signature tea or reading corner that our family love..cozy nook for beer or kueh lapis and coffee! We had a connecting room 407 and 409. The bathroom is spacious and boasts of various amenities for hygiene. We actually enjoyed using the bathrobes. Our 1st Breakfast on a Sunday was a carefully curated menu. Although not a buffet for main entree, it was a fair portion of nicely done Western and Indo fare. Accompanying it was a free flow of salad, cereal, bread and dessert. Our 2nd breakfast on Monday was a La Carte with a good selection that differed from first day. It was plenty. And I love the strong black coffee! Abd that deliciously moist brownie cake. I’m a breakfast aficionado and I love everything Doulos Phos has offered. The infinity pool is way way better than the one at MBS in Singapore. It was so long I can do proper hearty laps.

Interesting history of the ship to learn and stay in, makes it special from other resorts in the area especially when most proceeds go to charity. Service throughout our stay was prompt, warm and friendly and the rooms were comfortable. View from the infinity pool was quite enjoyable and peaceful. Food at the piano lounge was great too! Location is very near the ferry terminal as well, we're looking forward to the grand opening when the hotel is fully open!

Would be great if pool's jaccuzi was working and there was a more extensive drink bar menu.

Staff very attentive and friendly. Food great. Location for golf excellent.

    Latte not hot enough.
