Banyan Tree Bintan

Great service. Excellent staff - especially House Keeping and the Spa. Beautiful views and sense of nature. We did the mangrove excursion and while it is quite basic it was a real treat to get close to nature and leave the resort. The beach too is dramatic and picturesque.

The rooms are a bit tired and need better maintenance or some upgrades. Also, on check-in the person tried to upsell us to a ‘better room’. Not a great first impression given we were not in a standard room and they are not cheap regardless. She said we could get a ‘nicer room’. Hmm. Didn’t like that.

Old villa, outdated, noisy (fogging late at night, buggy cars could be heard when passing on the alley, planes very loud). Zero soundproofing

I visited Banyan Tree for a healthful long-weekend retreat. The Sunrise Yoga and other yoga classes were wonderful, and the spa services exceptional. The staff are simply outstanding! Loved the healthy juices and the comprehensive breakfast buffet. Fantastic views of the sea.

I would have appreciated a little shop/fruit bar for a quick healthy snack. The only “convenience store” is easy access at a sister property but focuses on typical chips/candy/fast food.

Banyan Tree review:Our family of 3 had a wonderful & relaxed stay at Banyan Tree. One can use the resort transport/cab at the ferry terminal upon arrival for a paid fee. The private pool villa which we stayed is high up the hill and so quiet and calm. Villa faces the sea and has an amazing view. Private pool, the other 2 pools & the entire resort are clean and well maintained. Guests can use the pool & sports facilities at the next-door Cassia Bintan & Angsana resort.All the staffs we came across at Banyan are lovely and always there to assist in need. The resort is huge & one can call for a buggy anytime of the day or night. The 3 restaurants - Treetops (indo), Saffron (thai) & The Cove (western European) are highly recommended and Saffron has amazing thai cuisine. Breakfast at Treetops is a huge spread with lots of western & dessert options as well. In-room dining service is super-fast. Special thanks to Sofyan, Kasir & a few others for the frequent buggy rides and being friendly with our young child. Highly recommend the place for a relaxing & stress-free holiday.

Being a tropical place, mosquitoes are frequent visitors around the pool, but repellents help.

Beautiful property and villa. The furniture was confortable, food generally very good. Excellent staff.

Not enough restaurant options and wine prices were extremely high.

The 3 spa treatments we had were the highlight of our stay. Staff were so lovely, warm and friendly.

Room service was a big miss for us. several times they forgot to deliver things we asked for and for 3 days leftover food was left in our room. Phone reception made ordering things very difficult.

All the guests were told to leave the main pool at 2pm on a (holiday weekend) Saturday because a guest had booked it out for a private event. The staff were very apologetic and tried to make it up to us. But this is clearly not acceptable.

Property had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Access from Singapore was very easy and quick. Staff were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our 3 days. The birdlife was prolific.

The prepaid meal deal wasn't worth it, I would simply pay a la carte. The tipping situation was confusing. The resort needs a little 7/11-type shop or corner.

Beautiful setting - isolated from other areas and people which was nice although we didn’t feel we were in Indonesia!

Much walking up steep hills although the golf buggies are always available

Property was exceptional with the view own pool and total privacy Staff were ever so courteous and went out of their way to make our stay special whether it was decorating our room and bed for our 25th wedding anniversary or setting up a special dinner by the beach just for the two of us or cooking something not on the menu for my daughter who is a strict vegan

Little old , maybe could have better toiletries

Most of the staff I in hotels are trained to be polite. In Banyan Tree the staff IS kind. We were welcome with smiles, attention and love we never experienced in other hotels (and we travel a lot). The manager has been very generous, moving us to a better villa since the workers were making sometimes noise building a roof. The SPA treatments were fabulous. We are still walking on clouds after loving touch of Rose and Thalia. The breakfast buffet was bountiful, food in the restaurants tasty. But really what makes this hotel special is how attentive the staff is- they were calling us by our names, remembering well our villa number, what we order last time for dinner and what tea we like to drink most. I am really impressed. I wish I was treated in every hotel like here at the Banyan Tree. What I like is also that they support local schools and protection projects for the turtles. This place is simple a great vibe. Thank you ??

The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful at all times and really made us feel at home. The location is stunning and the pools were great. Also one night we came back to our room to rose petals and candles in the bath, which was really special!

The food in the cove restaurant was very average. And regarding the rooms, although spacious, the room decor felt a bit dated for the price

The environment is peaceful and quiet, the service is excellent. I enjoyed my yoga session. Everything is conveniently located. I appreciated the Xmas Eve celebration with the staff choir, and complimentary drinks and snacks

The Christmas Eve buffet at Treetops had very little vegetarian options.

Beautiful hotel- a little outdated in some areas, but not every hotel can be shiny and new! The hotel staff were amazing- nothing was too much and they always had a smile on their face. The restaurants were all very good and we enjoyed eating every night

A small thing, but for Europeans the breakfast was limited. I appreciate that the majority of guests were Asian, but after 6 days I did get bored of breakfast!
