About
Gaiety and elegance are the two words which automatically spring to mind to describe this magnificent 18th-century chateau, a listed building set among exquisite French gardens and parkland. Ever since becoming a hotel in 1976, Audrieu is a fine example of good taste and the symbol of the French art of living. Period fireplaces and furniture give a personal touch to this ancestral home. Stay in one of its suites and rooms, some of them with original wainscoting, and enjoy a combination of luxury, space and comfort. Treat yourself to superb, innovative cuisine in the gastronomic restaurant. For your utmost pleasure, the hotel also features a design bar serving light dishes as well as salted or sweet "croques en bouche" to go with your drink, served inside or on the terrace. Unwind in the hotel's charming gardens or take a dip in the heated outdoor swimming pool. A charging station for electric cars is available at this property.

- Fortunately we travelled by car so the hotel was in easy reach of Bayeau, Caen and the Normandy beaches. The food at breakfast was good and the quality of the food in the restaurant was of good quality. The hotel was in good order, clean and most of the staff spoke good english.
- Very charming and luxurious:) Helpful and friendly staff!Loved this Chateau!.Beautiful bathroom with heated towels!
- Delicious food, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff.
Cons -
- Our room would probably have been fine but the lighting was very dim and the desk was in front of the window so you couldn't open them or draw the curtains without difficulty. The desk was also full of stuff so had to be rearranged to use our laptop. It was also impossible to have a stand up shower as either the shower head would fall down or, if it stayed up, would flood the bathroom. The staff were very attentive probably because most of the guests were American but we found it a bit intrusive and as a result not very relaxing. We have stayed at many Relais et Chateaux hotels over the years, this was the second on this trip and it seems the group are imposing some formulaic rules or styles which detract from the individuality of the hotels rather than celebrating the differences and quirkiness of their properties. Although the food was excellent quality it seemed over-priced compared to other excellent meals elsewhere on our trip. Similarly we would have liked to get a taxi into Caen to avoid faffing around trying to park but the hotel has an exclusive contract with a firm based in Bayeau and the estimated cost would have been 150 euros (£125) which seemed excessive for a total of 24 miles return trip.
- Not a big deal but you need to drive or Uber to town.
- The restaurant could have done with another waiter at breakfast

Delicious food, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff.
The restaurant could have done with another waiter at breakfast
The Room was very confortable, beautiful venue.
The Service was poor and the good options were limited.
The chateau was imposing with lovely grounds
The restaurant was very poor, especially since it used to have a michelin rosette. Poor menu choice, only a choice of 2 per course so we opted for the five course special menu at 95 euros to discover that 2 courses were those on the other menu. Furthermore, we were staying for 2 nights and they refused to provide different courses the second night for us. Some courses were fairly ordinary but good and some were poor, too salty, too plain or too ordinary. The st emilion wine was 300 euros. The best thing was the bread, perhaps made elsewhere. On our travels we ate lunch at a roadside cafe for 66 euros which was far superior in standard.
Nice viewStaff tried to help
Dinner was mediocre and we were charged 62 euros for two 1/2 glasses of mediocre champagne which we thought was complimentary Breakfast was a buffet and there was very little laid out. We asked for more orange juice as it had run out and they said there wasn’t any then delivered some to the next table. The coffee machine wasn’t working in the room so they bough another, that didn’t work either so we ordered morning tea and coffee which took an hour to come. The safe was broken Room very pokey
The grounds, the pool, and the rooms were outstanding. The staff tried hard to accommodate our needs and were very pleasant. Additionally, the attention to detail throughout the hotel was awe-inspiring, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
However, we were disappointed that we could not dine at the hotel during our three-day stay. It appeared to be a result of what seemed to be a shortage of staff, which was a letdown considering the otherwise exceptional service we received. We hope this aspect can be addressed for future guests' convenience.
Good location.good rooms
Service in the grill on the second night was not good.over booked and it was suggested that we ate in the bar on the low bar tables.eventuslly they laid up two tables in another room for ourselves and an American couple who had booked to eat at 8pm. We got our first course at 8.50pm
Everything about the Chateau d'Audrieu is wonderful - from the very warm welcome at check in to all the little extras in the room. Luggage taken care of upon arrival and brought up to my room. Valet car parking. Tour of the Chateau on the way to my room.Bedroom was very large and very comfortable - I was able to spread out which I love doing when in an hotel room! The gastronomic restaurant was excellent - a special mention to the person who worked there. He was on his own and did everything perfectly with a large smile on his face all the time. Well done!Breakfast was also wonderful. A very large choice of things to eat and drink including freshly prepared hot dishes.Check out was also smooth but, of course, sad to be leaving!!Thank you to everyone for my brief but memorable stay.
That I couldn't stay longer!!!
We did enjoy the hotels location and the stunning grounds but it was evidently let down by a severe shortage of staff
We ate in both restaurants - both were very very disappointing. On the first night my wife and I both had the burger in the Bistro - it was probably the worst thing we have eaten in some time. Breakfast selection was very poor and there were no available tables. Too few staff on service so tables not cleared. Nowhere near the standard you would except from a Relais & Chateaux hotel. It was very evident that the hotel was very short staffed in the kitchen and restaurants
The location is superb. The grounds are magnificent. We stayed two nights and left very reluctantly. We ate in both restaurants and the food and service were superb - particularly in Le Savran. Breakfast was also a gourmet meal and was so generous that we didn’t need lunch. The charming manageress couldn’t have been more helpful and even managed to serve us some lunch when we arrived - even though the kitchen had already closed. Our room was wonderful. In fact it was the best place we stayed on our vacation. They also speak fluent English.
Nothing ,
Attentive and professional staff. Good facilities with pool and gym
It is a very nice chateau located in a rural area in Normandy. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday there. The building is with the history, the restaurant is fantastic with the selection from 3-7 courses menu. Staff is so friendly, special thank you to Nazar who helped me to organise the present for my daughter. Also, they gave her a bouquet of roses from their garden, it was such a special gift. We are glad that we chose this place to stay in for such special occasion!
Beautiful grounds. Lovely building.
Service did not match the price.
it’s a beautiful property, with lovely grounds and great facilities, well maintained. they concierge managed to get us a table in the restaurant even when it was fully booked after she talked to the chef to see if they could add two extra people. We did really appreciate that and we were very pleased we did have the opportunity to try his fabulous food.
they only have bottle beer. it would have been nice to try French pressure beer on tap.
This beautiful chateau was such a treat. Staff is very helpfull and super nice. Diner and breakfast were very tasty.
beautiful scenery & building
half of staff is unresponsive and unexperiencedNever saw the hotel manager appear - maybe this is why
BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT (LITTLE EXPENSIVE)
DIFFICULTY WITH AIR CONDITIONING & HOT WATER. WE HAD THREE (3) ROOMS.
Lovely for relaxing and being spoilt with comfort and good service.
The restaurant was closed and they could have a few more options for dinning. We were with our baby so leaving the hotel in the evening was not really an option.
Very lovely and quite atmosphere. Beautiful room and outstanding property and gardens. The breakfast buffet was also very good. We will definitely return.
