Pros +
- Great location, possibility of parking, friendly staff
- Staff good breakfast
- Location in the city. Very close to all the city attractions. If you use the train station, the funicular from the station to the city center does not work. There is a shuttle bus. It will take you up the hill next to the fortress. The hotel is a short walk (~1 km) along a straight street with a slight climb. Not recommended walk with a suitcase. It is recommended to take the local bus "A". It goes to the cathedral, and the hotel is less than 10 minutes away by walk.Breakfast. Not very varied, but good, and you can have lunch in one of the many restaurants nearby.Shower cabin. I like that the glass door closes completely.
Cons -
- The staff is not sufficient enough, there were only 3 people taking care of breakfast, which was scarce, messy and late. Overall the hotel is old and worn out, doesn't feel very clean.
- Room wasn’t very clean
- Hard pillows. One guy at the front desk was older and not very helpful. He didn't have a TV channel guide and didn't know which channels might have sports. With 100 channels, it was VERY slow to determine that channel 64 was the Suoer Tennis Channel. The TV was small and hard to see from the beds.Another younger guy was very helpful with recommending restaurants and sightseeing tips.

The breakfast was amazing. We were offered cappucino, plus there was strong excellent coffee where we could serve ourselves. Excellent juices and fruit. Plus a couple of hot items, which may change. Ours were scrambled eggs and american-style bacon. Plus wonderful fresh sweet and savory croissants. Our room (405) was large but the pillows were large and very firm. We asked for soft pillows but none were available. The A/C worked well. The electricity outlets were not convenient. They were under a table so we had to use our phone flashlights to see how to fit our adapters and converters. Would be nice to have an outlet that is table-height.

was not easy to find the hotel, the employee of the nightshift patiently lead me to the hotel, veeeery nice and helpful person!! The room was a bit old but big and calm, breakfast was ok, specially when they briught extra fresh fruits late into the breakfast time
Grand Hotel Italia, Room 504 was lovely, with a comfy bed, a large terrace with table and chairs, a city view, and very close to the center of Orvieto. We also had slippers and robes. AND the breakfast was delightful with helpful, gracious, hotel staff.
Not a thing!
Excellent breakfast, perfect location. Bed comfort wasn't great and the wifi was very poor.
Wifi
it was perfect location middle of Orvieto. great breakfast. really helpful staff.
large but hard bed and hard pillow.
We stayed for one night & found Orvieto utterly charming. The view from the Hotels 5th floor is incredible, and the marble staircase leading up to the rooms is beautiful. Our room (5th floor), bed along with the bathroom was spacious & comfortable. The hotel has a classic italian grand house area by the reception, well maintained & impressive on entrance. The hotel itself is well located just a side street away from the busier area, very peaceful. The server at breakfast was the friendliest person we met at the hotel, welcoming & attentive.
The reception staff were efficient but not exactly friendly or welcoming. No lift to the 5th floor & on leaving the lift entrance was blocked by cleaning equipment. We found a significant amount of dried bird mess on the outdoor seating on the balcony which we had to clean as we didn't want to complain & then wait for a cleaner. The shower has no tray to store shampoo etc. No shampoo was left for us to use only shower gel. Some scuffing to the walls which made the room feel shabby. Breakfast overall was ok, the hot food wasn't great. No wi-fi on the 5th floor which is unacceptable. For the money paid for a superior room, we expected more but for one night, the view made up for these issues.
Very comfortable beds! Staff very helpful! Recommended a really good restaurant around the corner from the hotel. Massimo (?) from the front desk went to the parking lot with is to help us with parking our car.
Nothing!
we loved everything about Grand Hotel Italia! The room was wonderful — clean, spacious, comfortable bed, and a balcony! As great as the room was, the staff is the real star as they went above and beyond any levels of service one might reasonably expect; twice leaving the building with us to help us find locations we had missed. TRULY WONDERFUL!and, the included buffet breakfast was the best we’ve had during our month of travels through Italy. Grazie Mille!
There is nothing to dislike!
Comfortable room, great roof patio with nice view.
Room was on top floor (5), but elevator only goes up to 4th floor.
Great location. Wonderful hotel. Friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast.
Location, food and staff
Elevator malfunction...door would not open when we arrived at our floor. Staff said to "be patient"...we waited and then I decided to force the door open...it worked and we got out. Took the stairs from then on...
Great location- central & quiet. Lovely spacious light modern room on top floor with fabulous views. Modern bathroom that needs holder in shower for toiletries. Plenty of storage & comfortable bed. Wifi kept dropping out. This is a four star hotel that should have reliable & very secure wifi throughout. Urgent need of upgrade. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice & quality. All staff friendly & helpful.
Location and excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, pastries and coffee.
Very clean, well located and the price you pay is fair. Francesco from the front desk was very kind to us, helping us with all our needs.
the view from our room on the 5th floor was wonderful. the room itself modern and clean. the situation of the hotel in the city center is great too.
the sound isolation within the hotel is a disaster. you hear every movement outside your room very loud.the breakfast is served in a room without any windows which has absolutely no charm.
Fantastic location in the heart of the old city, and the hotel itself also looks wonderful. We had a room with balcony on the top floor with a beautiful view over the surrounding hills. Very good breakfast.
Location. View. Helpfulness of staff.
