Catalonia Bayahibe - All Inclusive

The atmosphere is great.

The room needs renovations or improvements. The shower area is very small and outdated and the toilet space is also super small as well.

Let's start with the good. Most of the staff at the main restaurant, the bars, the lobby and pool were nice and courteous. The location is amazing, the beach is spectacular and the pool was really nice.

Supposedly there is an adjacent hotel "Catalonia La Romana" however it is part of the same campus and "regular" guests are barred from there by signs or rude ground staff. Once we wanted to go to the lobby and passed through the "barred area" not noticing the sign and only when we were almost there a guard popped out and in made us go all the way back.Also, within the regular campus of Catalonia Bayahibe, there were areas and services (pool bars and snack bars) available to "exclusive members" only. Off course this was not explained ahead, and we weren't offered the option. This made our stay feel segregated and uncomfortable.In terms of the room, prior to arrival we got multiple emails urging us to check-in online in advance to save time upon arrival. Still we waited over 30 minutes only to get the wrong room and then wait another hour for a different room. The room itself was not maintained well with paint peeling of the ceiling and falling on my 4 y/o daughter's bed, or wood chipping of the floor of cupboard which was dangerous with our 1 y/o son. Cleaning of the room was ok, if the cleaners came. The food was mediocre, the 4 of us got gastroenteritis.

Excellent place for vacation

It was clean, very well organized and right on the beach. The room were spacious and the dominican staff was extremely friendly and kind to us all the time. Kudos to Guerina the receptionist and to Pachenko the doctor for the professionalism shown.The position was great, not very far from Bayahibe and excursion places. The seaside was stunning and the pool itself was very beautiful. The barman Allen was doing the best cocktails ever!

There many things that need to be improved:- the beach volleyball field is built on a piece of concrete, rocks and iron stingy stuff covered with little no sand. For such reason I injured my knee on the second day at Catalonia while playing volleyball because no one informed me that was dangerous which by the way a proper beach volleyball field should be 100% secure and full of sand. 3 other people got injured on the same field in the same week and no one did anything to improve such thing or stop people from playing. I got my holiday ruined since the very beginning due to the knee injury I had to cure every day…- food quality is very poor in all the restaurants, even the one we were supposed to reserve our spot: sometimes the meat had a weird soft texture or a weird taste. Broccolis, fish and meat were often overcooked, the pizza wasn’t event supposed to be called pizza. It was more like a piadina with bad toppings on it.- drinks were served too slowly. We usually received our drinks after we ate already our dishes- Room service for privilege clients was almost inexistent. When I got injured at my knee and felt sick for a local virus I got, my mom asked at 6:00pm the room service to get a roasted chicken serves in my room so that I could take my medicine. At 9:00pm I was still waiting the food. We had to call 10 times the reception and I had to sent my mom physically to the reception to get it finally at 9:40pm- as for the animation, the dominican staff was very kind and inclusive, they might just tried to involve more proactively the people. Who were completely inexistent were the Italians (not all of them) and French animation from Fram and Francorosso. Usually the animation is supposed to talk to all the guests, some of them didn’t even speak to me (which I was very active in dancing, etc..) nor to other group of people. Some of them almost didn’t smile at all and were wearing bored faces.

Breakfest was o.k.

I was ordering room , but in the room was dirty smell, no WIFI ,just 10min pro day, telefon doesnt work The didnt change my room , only to another hotel úconnected with Catalonia and ask me for 210 USD !!! even the didnt give me whar they have on page and by ordering !!So i wil ask money back, I mean the extra for 4 nights from 21 to 25 !!

Beautiful resort & nicely appointed

Inability to book restaurants in advance & food in many of the individual restaurants was not that good.

Good customer service everywhere and buffet area was clean. I have been going to all inclusive in DR for 3 years now and this was one of the best places. The beach here beats Punta Cana , no waves and no Sargasso! Perfect beach with white sand…

Only 1 bar in the center and 1 bar on the beach so takes 10Minutes to get a drink. You can time it to go when there are no crowds. What really upset me was being denied a 30 minute late checkout so 12.30 PM instead of 12.00 PM , after staying 8 days here. Was told how I can be charged $50Automatically. There is only 1 pool in the center which gets overrun by kids so beware - I love kids (have my own ) but this was overrun with kids ..

The beach is amazing as well as the food

The rooms need restoration. The doors are peeled and the bathrooms have mole and with corrosion. I booked 2 rooms are both have the same issue.I had to call twice to reception as the A/C was not working. I had to wait 3 days to get the TV repaired as there was not signal.

The rooms are clean and regularly maintained, hygiene is up to standard. The beach is 5 minutes from the room, along the way there are bars with drinks and a large swimming pool in the middle with a bar inside the pool. There you can drink traditional Dominican drinks and cocktails that are made for you on the spot by friendly and always smiling baristas. As for the food, it is very diverse, the menu covers all types of diets, from vegan to keto. There is also a bar with freshly squeezed fruit without sugar.

There are not enough showers by the pool and beach, you have to walk a lot from the beach to the first shower. The taxi from the hotel is too expensive. If you need transportation to the airport, I recommend not using the taxi from the hotel. If you order a regular taxi to the airport, it will cost three times less. Not enough entertainment for young people, lack of party organization.

Everything, starting from the menu and drinks and ending up with the beach and activities exceeded our expectations. Hotel territory is clean and beautiful! Food served is wide in variety and very tasty for all the meals and a la cart. We also liked the possibility to take masks for snorkelling for an hour to see the fishes (and there are quite many)

The location is beautiful. Beach is clean and no seaweed. The pool is has 3 sections and was clean. The shallow section of the pool was used mostly by kids.

The food is average.

Incredible beach, great place for families

We were in the most basic room which was a bit old/worn looking, although clean and functional. Checkin took over an hour, not sure why.

I like the staff. I really liked how they made us feel. Specifically JC from entertainment and the bartenders. The entertainment was exceptional. The live music was great, and the DJs are out of this world. Amazing people you have working for this resort. I highly recommend this resort for the staff.

The segregation or division of levels was confusing. The division between whether I buy exclusively or not. Place all the people who by exclusive in one area where the other regular people don’t have access and vice versa. It was confusing.

I liked the resort but it was massive! The food was excellent. Service was excellent. I would not recommend it for couples/honeymooners. I would recommend it for families and large groups.

Booking.com was an utter disappointment this time. It was a nightmare checking in due to a mistake with booking.com. What I reserved and paid for did not match what the resort had confirmation for. I had to book another room and it cost me 1.5 hours to straighten out the mistake!! I will say that the hotel attempted to correct the error and add a few bonus features to offset the huge mistake!

Delicious foods, friendly and courteous staff.

People that are limited with walking has a hard time traveling from buffet, beach and pool.

In general, nice facilities.

The bathroom of the standard room is poor and there is no picture of it in Booking. It’s tricky.Also, the restaurants have no A/C.We moved to Royal La Romana.

Beautiful property! Beach party was a nice touch , had a great facial at spa !

Bartenders were very friendly . Front desk personnel were friendly , hostess at Tuscany very un friendly all 3 days we inquired , made reservation to day we ate there , server also not present . Very few servers at buffet were friendly . Including juice bar and crepe stand .

Very nice and clean.. the rooms were comfy. The rodeo steakhouse was very tasty.

The buffet didnt have a big selection of food. And they close too early.
