We were hiking the Via Francigena and wanted a place near the trail - this property fit the bill. This is an older property that is very well maintained. very close to a large plaza with many restaurants, but if you're up for a bit of a walk, the older part of town is worth a look.Our room was large, clean and comfortable with a window that looked out onto the hotel's garden. The breakfast was exceptional! It was served in a large dining room with an attentive staff. As foods ran out, they were replaced with fresh food. Everything was nicely prepared.Even if you're not hiking the Via, be sure to take a walk along the river Elsa. It's beautiful! Just be sure to wear a good pair of shoes as there are a number of stone bridges to cross and you'll want good traction.

Big room, comfortable. Good bathroom, but the shower is too tight. The wifi and the breakfast are good. The parking is good.

Air conditioner did not work. Room was warm, fans would have been nice.

Old style hotel, everything from the smell inside to the carpet stains tell you the last time it was remodeled.

Situated in the lower part of the city, close to everything, with good parking. Breakfast is very varied, staff very friendly.

Perfect stop for pilgrims! It's a historic location, I appreciate the "bones" of the place. Staff was super helpful/kind. Breakfast was good. Great location. Lobby, sitting areas were nice.

Carpets in halls could be removed or replaced.

A dated, tired hotel in need of a refurbishment. The rooms reflect the age (1980’s?) with very few power points, shutters that when open partially obscure the view, a shower and bathroom that needs an update, too few hooks for coats and towels, weird heating controls, thin door ( no soundproofing) and odd layout in the rooms and the reception area

Stayed one night while walking the Via Francigena. Just what you want in a hotel. Traditional and comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Crème caramel as a breakfast option was my husband’s highlight.

Average hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit tired. Needs a bit of updating. Location is in lower part of town, close to lift to historic town but lift was out of order so steep climb up and back. Close to square with good cafes and restaurants, more local than touristy in the lower town. Walls are thin so you can hear noise from other rooms. OK and reasonable value for money for a one night stay on the Via Francigena walk but nothing special.

Beds were comfortable - shower was hot- staff helpful . All clean and good- and breakfast was good.

Staff are professional, friendly, and review all hotel information clearly.The room was pleasant.Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. A good variety was offered.

Pillows were hard and lumpy. More substantial hooks for hanging things.

The hotel is centrally located with a warm and welcoming staff. The entrance are is light and spacious with a pleasant bar area. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel has a special appeal, it used to be a paper mill and it still holds much of the old charm. It has a great location with a view of the old town, close to an intercity bus station, a perfect starting point for visiting the whole of Tuscany. If travelling by car, it offers a nice garage. The lovely breakfast and helpful staff add to the perfect experience in La Vecchia Cartiera.

Breakfast was awesome, personal is very nice. Beautiful view. Quality sleep was no problem even when outside temperature was very high.

Toilet did awful sounds after flushing.

The bedroom was super clean as well as the bathroom. Towels were cleaned if indicated which is great to reduce water consumption. Breakfast time was ideal, too. The location in the center of Colle and very close to the bus stop to go to Florence makes the hotel an ideal choice. Breakfast was good with the option to request for macchiato, capuccino or espresso.

Breakfast could add more fruits selection.
