    Pros +

    • The hotel itself is stunning, beautifully traditional and steeped in history. The pool was lovely and all the outdoor patios are great in order to find somewhere secluded to sit and have a drink, watching the amazing sunsets. The restaurant was 5/10 but was made better by Stefania who waited on at breakfast and lunch, she was wonderfully attentive especially with the wine. Spa facilities were great, we did a private spa for a couple of hours which was a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, would recommend.
    • Stunning place, great facilities, lovely rooms. Beautiful views overlooking the vineyards. Great breakfast, friendly, helpful staff.
    • Breakfast was classic European as would be expected from someone from the USA. Everything was fresh and the cappuccino was great. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The room was comfortable and the location was perfect for our intended festivities. Keep up the great work!

    Cons -

    • Unsure how the other reviews are so positive but the food was average to below. Overpriced and really small portions - had a €20 pasta which contained 5 pieces of pasta as a main, and ordered a chocolate fondant but received a dry chocolate brownie, again this was over-priced and resembled the standards of a fast food outlet than a beautiful hotel. Evening service was hap-hazard. There are a couple of places to eat in the local town and I would recommend eating there instead of the hotel.
    • The only negative I can think of is the subpar wine selection offered at seven euros of glass.

Pleasant night in a fabulous villa with a great staff. Very reccomended the exclusive Spa!

The dinner was expensive and not so valuable. The room was simpler than expected.

This is a beautiful and historic villa with lovely sitting areas both inside and outside, all beautifully decorated and curated. The staff were very kind and helpful and accommodated our stay with our small dog. Breakfast was great and the spa was a perfect way to relax on a rainy day.

Beautiful old country house, which they kindly gave you the run of. A library, drawing room, gardens etc. the staff were all lovely and there was a general relaxed feeling about the place which made us feel very comfortable.

We ate dinner at the restaurant and were hoping for something a little more local cuisine - ideally trying local game. Our lively waiter did not know what he was serving when asked and the portions were a bit small.

First: It‘s a really beautiful place, there‘s no doubt about that. We did the Sanea-Romea-trail and got there by feet. It was right before the big floodings in Toscana, so we were already walking through heavy rain for hours when we got there in the evening, extremely exhausted. We kindly asked if there was a possibility to get food - as we hadn‘t eaten anything all day. Unfortunately, that wasn‘t possible. Then we asked, if there was a possibility to get transport into the town (around 2km or less). They said they could only offer us a „shuttle“ for the 2 minute drive but it would cost 35€ EACH way, so 70€ return. As it is impossible to walk the street into town by night, we litterally didnt have a choice than to accept. The „shuttle“ was a more than small and old private car. I think I‘ve never experienced something similar in any other place in the world and it was by far the most expensive ride of my life. The next day, we then wanted to use the sauna, that is shown on booking and on the website. It was then said, that we had to book a timeslot as the Spa was so small. It was okay, but the sauna didn‘t really heat up. When we checked out the next day, we got informed that it would be an additional 15€ per person (for 1 hour in a sauna, that didn‘t come close to 40 degrees). It would have been great to inform guests about the fee BEFORE. I really don‘t want to recommend this place.

The villa was amazing. We had a very good stay and felt welcome there. Staff was very attentive and positive. The location was in a beautiful place, with a view on Tuscany. The rooms had a historical and toscanian vibe and were very spacious. One of the best hotels I have ever been!

The restaurant could be open every day. But apart from that, I don't think that there is anything that I didn't enjoy.

Beautiful historic villa with an amazing view from the portico. The main frescoed reception room was also stunning and we were very happy with the large size of the room and large at least king size bed. The manager of the hotel was very friendly and welcomed the guests at breakfast. The location is very useful if you're looking for somewhere just outside Florence which is close to the airport and within easy reach of Chianti.

This hotel could be fantastic in the low season if there were more staff and facilities. The main room could be a real hub with a bar area or if another room opened with a cosy fireplace. We expected more reception rooms in a villa of this stature and the lack of staff made it feel quite empty. The room we had overlooked a messy caravan area of the property next door and the valley was hidden by trees. The spa area in the basement didn't meet our expectations with no natural light and a sauna that was very small and not hot at all. The jacuzzi area was better but the red lights weren't particularly relaxing or elegant. The villa could be really fantastic with a bit more investment

Beautiful location in countryside with marvellous views. Historic house with charm.

Our room was large and cool but dark and with a rather small bathroom on the ground floor. It had no views and was quite noisy due to cars parking next to it and people passing in front of the windows early in the morning (no privacy).

Our room was so big with kitchen, we also could park the car in-front of our room door. Breakfast was great and all the personnels were super nice. The swimming pool was the cherry on top of the cake ??? highly recommended

Staying at Villa Il Poggiale Dimora Storica was like stepping back in time. The villa, with its 600-year-old history, is an incredibly charming. The service was exceptional. The staff were not only friendly and welcoming but also very knowledgeable about the villa's history and the local area. The surroundings of the villa are simply stunning. Nestled in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, the views from the property are breathtaking. The well-maintained gardens and serene atmosphere provided a perfect environment for vacation.

This was an incredibly beautiful location just 30 minutes south of Florence. We loved the house and our rooms. Breakfast and dinner were elaborate and delicious. The pool was gorgeous and the staff were generous with their time. The owner even helped recommend an incredible Chianti Classico winery for us to visit that worked even for our kids once afternoon--they loved walking through the vines and fields as much as we did. The rooms were absolutely lovely, one was extremely large and worked so well for our families. They positioned our two rooms together which was so convenient. I wish we'd had more time to relax and explore because it was a truly beautiful experience.

We somehow mis-booked on booking.com and they ended up charging us 90 Euros for our two small children (6 years old) which was a shock at the end of the trip. That said, I understand they have expenses and offer reasonable rates overall and we were happy to accommodate (it was our mistake of course) but wish they'd told us this when we discussed the accommodation numbers at the beginning of the check in and not just at check-out. Otherwise, we wouldn't change a single thing.

Breakfasts were adequate. Typically Italian. Dinners were delicious and good value, eaten on a beautiful terrace.

a bit more choice at breakfast would have been good

This elegant villa is set in a stunning location with views of the picturesque Tuscan countryside. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with traditional furnishings.Breakfast and dinner are served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the gorgeous landscape.

    I liked everything.

    beautiful building and rooms

The food is absolutely HORRIBLEThe location is great. Really. But we will never every go back because of the most bad food we had in Italy. The food is not freshly prepared but straight from the freezer in the microwave. We went there twice (should have known better) and we did not finish the plates. It was that bad.

This property is gorgeous and the staff is so hospitable. We felt very at home, as if it was our own villa. The pool was refreshing and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to return.

My only complaint was that we couldn’t stay longer.

Great property. Spectacular views from restaurant. Nice option outside Florence and good spot to visit Tuscany.
