Everything was amazing. The villa and all around it is very beautiful. The people are very nice and welcoming, and the breakfast is very delicious.

Everything was absolutely gorgeous - the pool, the breakfast. Inside the rooms were beautiful and entirely comfortable.

It’s peaceful, family run, kind staff, very nice villa.

The rooms are very dark and the bathroom was very old and noisy. The room also had an automatic light that would turn on when someone passed by, unable to shut off. As it’s also an old villa, noises from rooms above resonate a lot in lower rooms.

Everyone was so nice and made everything feel really easy. Lorenzo was especially great! He reached out before I even got to Florence, helped me get to the hotel without any stress, and then checked in with recommendations both for my stay in San Casciano and later when I went back to Florence for a few days. One of the places he suggested actually ended up being one of my favorite spots from the whole trip, which was so great. The hotel was beautiful, the location couldn’t have been better, breakfast was honestly the best I had in Italy, and the pool was perfect. It all felt really thoughtful and welcoming.

The property is a 700 years old villa that is located in a charming village, a few steps away from the shops and restaurants, while being located on top of a hill with a great view of vineyards and Toscan hills. The property is a small castle with a lot of history in it though with all the modern comfort. There is a swimming pool in the beautiful garden that we enjoyed quite a bit (almost every day) after a day trip visiting vlllages in the area. The breakfast is divine! Our wonderful host Lorenzo is a chef and many of the delicacies served a breakfast are home made. The staff is warm, friendly and attended to our every need. Being a family of four with 2 young adults (21 and 18 years) , we stayed in the Attico suite that has a very large bedroom with a separate bedroom for the children. We had a wonderful stay thanks to the great attention from the staff and the recommandations from Lorenzo regarding restaurants, how to get to Florence for a day trip, which villages to visit in the Chianti region and the best vineyard to have a wine tasting. Our whole stay was a real charm. We had a wonderful 4 days stay in Villa Il Defino. We would love to visit again. Thank you Lorenzo for being such a great host.

Lorenzo was a most gracious host. We had four wonderful nights and enjoyed our favorite breakfasts in Italy, the food, service and views were world class.

This villa is a 10/10Host family absolutely charming. Delightful people -we loved all of them. The villa is 700 years old, and has been in their family for 250 years. The breakfasts were enormous and delicious, with fresh homemade offerings every morning, cappuccinos were glorious. Lorenzo is a well known chef and the dishes he made for breakfast and our cooking class were the best tasting of anything we ate on our entire 10 day trip. Definitely do the cooking class. The rooms are lovely, the views spectacular, the pool a nice addition after a day of touring. The location is very central to everything in Tuscany, a good place to base your trip if you don’t want to move every couple of days. Walkable to a charming actual town, as opposed to a tourist trap. All of the staff were so friendly. Villa il Fedino is a must if you are visiting Tuscany.

Perfect view,perfect room. The property managed by the family,very friendly,always there for any question,so nice and kind. The breakfast is fantastic,ask from Lorenzo to prepare “Frank egg”,delicious,best I ever had.The location is good to go out for day trips to explore Tuscany.My advice,to go to local Restaurant “Cinque de Vino” and try famous florentine stake,fantastic.

The location is stunning - and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills was sublime - and the special gluten free breakfast was rated by my partner is the best ever.

It was the best place in our entire trip to Tuscany. The owners of the villa are very nice people, attentive and caring. Our room was once a church, but now it is a cozy room with a magnificent interior. The breakfast was amazing. Thanks for the experience!

A truly delightful stay — charming, stylish, and full of warmth. Every detail felt just right, leaving absolutely nothing to wish for. A little haven of comfort and beauty. The cooking class was an absolute highlight — fun, hands-on, and one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had.

Nothing to complain about

Rooms are very nice decorated and clean! The owner is very friendly and he helped us a lot with tips about the area! Breakfast was exceptional! It is within walking distance from the town center and within driving distance from the Chianti villages and Florence!

Hosts are very kind and attentive. Breakfast is a real treat! Villa is well located in the center of town in walking distance from the handful of restaurants.

Everything was perfect

The couple running the Villa are great, happy to help with everything. The village is nice with several good dinner places and the location as a basepoint to explore Tuscany is great. Breakfast is superb!
