    Pros +

    • Good location, interesting building with lots of history. Breakfast is good and adequate to set you up for the day. Staff very friendly especially hotel employee on reception.
    • Large room and bathroom in a historic structure, in the middle of everything. Close walk to the Alhambra and many of the other sites in town, as well as the Hamam if you want to take in the spa.
    • The location is perfect - right near great food, sites, and several different wonderful areas of the city. It felt very centrally located to all the neighborhoods we wanted to see. The staff are friendly and helpful and accommodating. We would definitely choose this place again!

    Cons -

    • Noise from the street. In addition our shower drain was clogged in the first night, which put a lot of water onto the bathroom floor. My wife reported it to the management the next morning before leaving to site see. They said they would fix the drain while we were out, but they did not, and there was a faint smell of sewage in our room later when the drain filled again and overflowed into the bathroom. The lack of attention to the matter was very disappointing as they had all day to address it while we were out, or to change our room. As the hotel was not busy due to low season. This made me very disappointed with an otherwise nice hotel, with a great location. When we told them about it again at check out, they seemed not to care. Service is important. Especially when people have choices of where to stay. And the smell alluded to a larger issue. I hope they improve upon their service.
    • I couldn’t say that there was anything that I disliked about the property. Don’t expect a typical key card for the hotel room door - you are getting an old school key.
    • This is the first palace built in Granada after the Alhambra so centuries old. What could have been a lovingly and beautifully restored property, full of history, beauty and charm, is instead a warren of staircases leading to uninspiring rooms with nothing to recommend them or the hotel in general. Everything is old, tired, worn and in need of a major renovation, paint job with bright Andalusian colors, and updated lighting instead of the series of dated lamps and hanging cords. If you arrive by car, as we did, the hotel does not offer parking, instead making you find and park in a public garage in town, then take a taxi to the hotel. They pay for the cab ride but not the return. If you have to leave early, as we did to catch a tour in Cordoba, the “picnic breakfast” consisted of a white bread sandwich with one slice of turkey lunch meat, an apple, bottle of water and bottle of peach juice. The hotel is at the entrance of the historic Albaicin neighborhood, a UNESCO World Heritage site, hence the traffic restrictions and difficulty to reach. The palacio should have used that to highlight Granada’s rich history and culture. Sadly, it did not. Fortunately, the staff was welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Otherwise, you can find much, much more comfortable hotels to rest your weary feet after a day of sightseeing Granada.

Here’s a polished review you can copy/paste and tweak if needed:⸻Title: Waking up to the AlhambraI absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Palacio de Mariana Pineda. From my bedroom window I had a direct, picture-perfect view of the Alhambra – the kind of view you dream about when you plan a trip to Granada. The hotel is set in a beautiful old palace, and you really feel like you’re staying in historic Granada, not just in a generic hotel. The décor, the architecture, and the atmosphere all add up to something very special and authentic. This is not a five-star, ultra-luxury property, but for the price it was beyond perfect: comfortable, charming, and full of character, with an unbeatable location for exploring the city. For me, it was exceptional value and exactly what I wanted – I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a real Granada experience rather than a cookie-cutter chain hotel.

I couldn’t say that there was anything that I disliked about the property. Don’t expect a typical key card for the hotel room door - you are getting an old school key.

View from the room was outstanding. Location perfect. Breakfast very good. Staff frendly and helpful. The hotel is old and very charming.

No parking but we knew that. Because of all the one way streets parking to hotel is about 5 euros. Hotel to parking is 10 euros . However the Palace was beautiful close to everything. Had a delicious dinner nearby. Great view of the Alhambra from our balcony. Nice breakfast.

The location is fantastic. Lovely historic hotel with large rooms.

Could do with a little bit of updating with the interiors.

    Good location and friendly staff

Parking advertised on Booking.com was a 1000m walk and cost almost 20 euros per day. Junior suite was nothing more than a medium sized room with a long corridor to the bathroom. No lifts - very steep stairs to our "suite". Breakfast okay but v overpriced. V noisy location - noise till after 3am. Quirky hotel but seen better days, needing some tlc and not really meriting its 4 stars.

A very enjoyable stay at this beautiful classical Spanish hotel; lots of little luxuries added to our comfort. Very courteous, knowledgeable helpful staff.

    7CharlottePosted on: 4-4-2025

Great location, beautiful old historic house and easy walking to everywhere. Loved the location and little bars and restaurants nearby.

A great old historical building which also brings with it some older facilities, ie bathroom where you could hear the noise of the fellow hotel guests. We had a superior room booked with a view of the Alhambra which turned out to be a view of one small outside wall, so don’t spend the extra money. Be aware, no chance to get there with your own car, only taxi or Uber or walking, the car parking options are a taxi ride away. Hence the great location by the river.

Location. The view of the Alhambra from our little balcony was amazing. Such old world charm.

It was VERY VERY noisy! Our room overlooked one of the main thoroughfares and it was very noisy!!

Stunning room with a view of the Al Hambra. Amazing to lie in a luxurious bed and see it lit up. Service was friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be better, just off Carro Neuvo Comfy robes.and slippers. Relaxing shower and lots of amenities. I will be staying here on my next visit to Granada.

Street was lively at night but didn't interrupt sleep at all.

Location, comfortable room and good breakfast although repetitive if staying a few days.

Clothes storage limited, not enough shelves.

    7AldoPosted on: 3-4-2025

    Good central location,

Smell on incense was VERY strong, we needed to air the room every night when we came in. Odd configuration of the room, small bedroom, no sitting area in room.

    8WantaoPosted on: 2-27-2025

Good Location near Alhambra Palace .By walking only 10 minutes, going up along the small street by the bus stop. There are many restaurants around. A taxi stand by the plaza just near the hotel. The hotel is an old-fashioned building. Breakfast is good with enough choice. Our room is just beside the small alley by a small river. A little noisy when people walking by, but the windows are very good of soundproof. Parking is not available around, but you can take taxi to the hotel after parking the car in public parking place, and take taxi by the nearby plaza to get your car after checking out. The first taxi voucher is paid by hotel.

Children's beds are very soft. The glass door in the restroom can't shield the water from the shower. There is a lot of water on the floor around the toilet after shower.

We liked everything, location, hospitality, service, rooms, cleanliness. Beautiful hotel.

    9SimonPosted on: 2-10-2025

Beautiful old building and excellent location into the city and the Albaicin. Cosy and relaxing place.

Shower was too low, not ideal for tall people. Mattress could just do with a topper.

spacious room, clean and complete. staff very friendly and helpful

breakfast was not as expected for 4*. Simple, no warm dishes (for example eggs), limited coffee types..
