    Pros +

    • Not much. The room was clean and had a good shower
    • Parking was easy, room was nicely furnished, staff was friendly.
    • Gorgeous location, vises and rooms. We had a connected room for us and the kids which was perfect. The in-house pools are amazing so even if it’s off season it’s plenty to enjoy. The resort has beautiful walks around it, all the food is delicious! The olive oil they make is amazing.

    Cons -

    • Most things. It’s very dated. It’s a conference or wedding venue so it’s not really my type of hotel. Spa experience is not what I like but others might. There is no room service. No food from 230-730pm and you are in the middle of nowhere. Food is horrendous at the hotel main restaurant.
    • Lack of property overview by staff at check-in along with a lack of signage throughout the property made it very frustrating to figure out what amenities the property offered and where they were located. Overall the rooms were up to par but the restaurants lacked character and warmth and the spa was no where near as nice as one would expect given the number of stars.
    • Beds could be more comfortable

fantastic spa and pools. goodvrestaurant , excellent breakfast

They have many pools, some regular hotel pool style and some infinity pools. The latter are undoubtedly beautiful! The spa was great and the room we booked was so spacious! It had a massive garden, shame we didnt use it. Some of the staff were courteous. It was a great stay!

The head staff at the breakfast place refused to boil an apple for my 6 month old son, when i asked to boil a potato - they said it would take an hour. I was SHOCKED to say the least that a staff from property of this stature would not accommodate for an infant when he has such limited options to eat. Also, when you're charging hundreds of euros for a night and then charge 10 euros for an omelette, it doesn't reflect well. So yes the breakfast experience wasn't the best.

Great property with beautiful greenery all around and a variety of activities and high quality restaurants. Spacious room with very nice views of the surrounding countryside!

Navigating the hotel with a pram was a bit tricky as there are loads of elevators to reach different points / facilities. Step-free access to the pool area could be better indicated, and pool check-in for towels at the spa could be improved by simply leaving towels on loungers. It would be great to have some natural mosquito spray as part of room amenities since there are a lot of insects particularly at dusk.

Excellent stay in the most luxurious hotel, the whole experience was beautiful and we didn’t want it to end. The food was incredible and the room was breathtaking.

The only comment is there could be more explanation of how to book the spa and restaurants and where they are located as it is such a big place we found it hard to know how to get around.

Love it, love it love it Fitz. Time we have stayed here love the pool the restaurant the spa the location is all magnificent.

They have reduced the size of the Jim to half which is a real shame because I don’t think we’ll go back. One of the things we like to do as a couple is exercise together which doesn’t seem worth it anymore at this hotel real shame because we loved it.

Nice atmosphere and clean, well arranged gardens

It was written that dogs are welcome, but you can’t take it anywhere except in the room.

    9MarkPosted on: 6-1-2024

Outstanding location and stunning resort. Everything was spotless - the spa and pools were excellent and all the staff at the resort were very helpful.

The menus in the restaurants are very limited and so are the wine lists. Having to access your menu from a smart phone app is simply not in keeping with a relaxed atmosphere. People are on their phones too much and insisting people use them to read the menu is inappropriate and difficult to access all parts of the menus. We had a problem with air conditioning that was not really dealt with as a matter of urgency by the reception staff and again emailing you about the problem is not really appropriate when easier methods are available.

    Nothing. Absolutely nothing

The service was terrible, the hotel was not at all as advertised. I complained multiple times during our stay. I am awaiting a resolution from the hotel. If you want an Italian hotel, do not stay here.

It was our fourth time at Palazzo di Varignana. The whole structure is very nice, immersed in a wonderful garden on the Bolognese hills, overlooking the countryside. The room we were assigned was very spacious, the bed is comfortable. The SPA is nice and has lot of pools and sauna/ other features where to relax, so if there is a lot of people you can find your peaceful spot anyways.

We were assigned a room (superior) with a door connecting to another room. It was of course closed but we don’t like to have our room communicating with another so we asked to change the room. The guy at the reception was not very nice in accepting this request. In the end we were assigned a nice room that was at floor -1, with a nice patio. The bathroom is big but:1. The shower is not very comfortable. The shower siphon was completely blocked by limestone so the spray was reduced and did not allow it to be used well.2. There was a pretty scary layer of dust on the hair dryer holder. Probably the room we were assigned is not used very often, and from here we can see some lack of cleanliness (hair dryer and shower in particular)3. From our room we could hear very loud music until 1am making it difficult to fall asleep. The music was coming from somewhere in the garden. Finally keep in mind this is a children friendly structure so if you are looking for a quiet stay (especially in the SPA) you may be disappointed.

    Breathtaking

I stayed in the villa. You need to ask for a shuttle to get to the hotel. Sometimes you have to wait a while. Also there are no snacks in the kitchen or things easy to eat/drink, only water. It would be nice to have a full frigobar since you are so far away from the hotel.

Amazing location, with outstanding facilities - from Sauna & Spa, Oil & Wine tasting to 4 amazing restaurants with one of it on Michelin Guide. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Totally recommend it.

    Everything was perfect

wonderful location, excelent restaurants, comfort, nature all around,

obbligation to wear swimming suit in sauna; I would appreciate minimum one extra large linen sheet for use in sauna (just one frotté towel for the whole stay in wellness area is not sufficient)

    10ViatcheslavPosted on: 10-22-2023

A very modern and stylish hotel combined with history and traditions.

All was wonderful, but we did not use all the pools - it would be great to have a better connection between spa and outdoor area.

Everything about our experience was wonderful. Palazzo di Varignana offers fantastic value for the money. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. Location, property, rooms, spa, restaurants, amenities... everything was top notch. Staying here was the highlight of our honeymoon.
