Pros +
- Lovely old property, very nicely furnished. Fantastic breakfast with huge range of options.
- Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
- The hotel is in a beautiful setting with a nice courtyard and lovely flowers to greet guests. The rooms were unique and comfortable (and also has nice plants). There is a coffee/tea maker in the room also. Many guests have mentioned to very good breakfast and I concur. The staff is friendly and the WiFi functions well. The hotel is in a nice area where there are plentiful hikes and wineries.
Cons -
- Room was much smaller than the booking.com photo. Stairs were quite difficult especially for people with mobility issues.VERY tricky shower due to high basin so again not really user friendly if you don't have perfect balance. Most frustrating was that the spectacular looking restaurant on site in a wine cellar which appears to be part of the accommodation is totally separate and was full booked. This was not warned of. In fact it should not be advertised as part of the accommodation any more than the small office businesses in the same complex.Nearby eating options very limited- we tried 3 - and we were very lucky to get into the Greek which was very good. Also parking is a bit challenging in small streets.
- No complaints at all.
- the room didn't match the photo. Also was told I would have a view, and there was none. Room service seemed to have forgotten my order. Noise from hallway very loud. No parking even though promised.

(1) Room: Very well-maintained, beautiful Biedermeier pieces, coffee machine, USB charging ports, international plug options including UK-plugs already available in the wall, minibar, modern, clean bathroom.(2) Bed: Stylishly chosen, with a mattress that was perfect for me.(3) Breakfast: Good selection, everything pleasantly and attractively arranged at the buffet, egg dishes are freshly prepared in the kitchen upon request.
No complaints at all.
Bed was unbelievably comfy, property lovely, quick check-in and out, Breakfast was good (typical German) and included eggs cooked to order. The homemade jams were amazing.

The room was huge and amazing, the welcome on arrival was great, the breakfast was so very good, all in all a place to be recommended for a short or a long stay.
Good location - accommodated last minute bookingVery Clean Nice continental breakfast
Parking in the road No restaurants open locally at this time of yearBed was very hard and property quite cold
I chose the hotel based on reviews, price and how the room looked like. Arriving at hotel the restaurant was closed and I had to drive 15 km for a good restaurant, this was disappointed after a 500 km drive.I received a suite instead of normal room so plenty of space and the room was very nice.
My question of having dinner was not seen so the owner told me that the restaurant was closed. Even that I received a suite room the bathroom was not so modern, however it was very clean.Unfortunately there was no place to sit and have a drink available. In the summer period you can have a drink outside.
Breakfast was delicious and they cooked eggs to order from their hens. Tables were set with linens, flowers and China dishes. The room had tall ceilings and brights windows that had blackout shades for the night. Lots of hooks in the bathroom for hanging toiletry bags and towels, which one finds less and less in modern hotels. The bedding was nice and the mattress soft in a good way (My stay was as a single occupancy, so one blanket, but a double room would have two duvet blankets on the bed). Minibar was stocked and reasonably priced. Non-allergenic potted plants added an extra touch to the room. The location was great for exploring the region. The village has a few small restaurants (closed Mondays) and one so-so bakery at the grocery store, but it is an easy drive or train ride into Landau, or check the nearby villages. Parking is around the corner of the building, off the street. They will pack you a lunch for an outing if arranged beforehand, and recommend/sell wine there. English is spoken, but I spoke German while I was there. I thought Villa Koeningsgarten was a great choice for my stay.
This is a boutique hotel in an old manor-type house. If you can’t climb stairs, this hotel is not for you. There is one guest room on the main floor, but first there is a steep set of steps just to enter the hotel lobby. The other rooms are up either one or two sets of stairs. I needed help with my case because of the narrow stairs, but the helpful staff didn’t mind. I think there was only nine rooms total, four on each floor. The small landing on each floor is quite echoey (the hotel info points this out and asks guest to be quiet for others when coming and going). I spent three nights, and it seemed the hotel guests were middle-aged to seniors and early to bed/early to rise. Dogs are not welcomed and it’s not a good hotel for families. Checkout is at 11, which was a bit early for my plans.
Room was lovely, lady who served us at breakfast was so nice .
No restaurant (which does say when checking the hotel) but most restaurants around on our arrival were closed! Also, hike up to top for our room. Do check where your room is before confirming.
Beautiful friendly host, location
The booking didn’t go through for this hotel!!! …host had to book us at an alternate accommodation in town near by which was an excellent experience, this had never happened to them before they were very accommodating.
This was a stunning hotel. We were a little worried on arrival as we thought it was closed....however we were greeted warmly after ringing bell at door. There was a court yard at front of building where we were able to park our motorcycles. The hotel was like a French Chateau. Very charming. Gorgeous room with a coffee/tea machine and also a well stocked mini-bar. We received a lovely breakfast served on beautiful china. An amazing one night stay. The restaurant was closed but we were directed to a small restaurant in the village which served a limited but nice meal.
Lovely place, exceptionally clean with a nice environment and room interior. Friendly staff who waited for our late check in, and delicious breakfast!
Excellent breakfast, comfy bed, lovely room and friendly staff. We would love to come and stay again.
It was a shame the restaurant was shut while we were there, but luckily we were recommended another nice restaurant in the village. There was nothing about the hotel that I disliked, it was lovely.
A veritable gem of a location, rooms have a feel of staying with your well off relatives. Memory foam bed, modern shower with excellent water pressure, old fashioned furniture. Got the top floor room as requested, total silence in the night. The owner is very friendly and welcoming, so my late arrival after hours in Stau was soon forgotten.
There are no restsurants nearby I know of, so come prepared. Like with a bottle of Chimay in tow ;)
A wonderful small hotel. The breakfast is beautifully prepared with great extra touches like home grown herbs with your morning eggs. The rooms are super clean.
The atmosphere was superb and the room was stylish. And so was the entire hotel. A lot of care has been taken to make the stay it this hotel very special. And a very friendly staff with clientfriendly attitude.Breakfast was also extraordinary. Our compliments: By far the best stay during our trip?
friendly staff and breakfast
very noisy location. Privat parking not so privat.
Friendly host, clean and nice breakfast
no lift
Nice breakfast, clean room, comfy bed, could park my bike in the courtyard
The restaurant was closed, and the only other place to eat finished serving before my arrival at 7:30pm, there was no air conditioning, only a noisy fan and it was extremely hot, it never met my expectations as when I booked, it never said the restaurant was closed
