    Pros +

    • The view from our bedroom was amazing! Breakfast was excellent.
    • Upon arrival I asked John, the hotel manager, where I might buy some flowers to suprise my wife. He smiled and said he would look into the matter. Within minutes he presented us with a arrangement of edelweiss. I almost cried with joy. So touching. Thanks
    • Stunning location. Cows with bells right next to hotel. Very nice staff.

    Cons -

    • 1.4 km from the city center but there are free buses, except that they do not run past 8 or 9pm
    • The only thing I didn¿t like is that we had to leave at the end of our vacation. We will most certainly be back soon
    • Shared bathrooms are open at floor and ceiling so you can hear, and smell everything going on beside you and unisex. Not pleasant.

We loved the entire experience. The staff, specifically are marvelous at their jobs. The chef is absolutely excellent. The room rate includes breakfast, free internet, free parking. We had all we needed and more.

    lack of laundry service

The view is really spectacular and amazing it was also in the center Grindelwald making it more accessible and facilities were really clean the staff were doing a great job cleaning their toilets and shower

The room downstairs where bunk beds are located has no doors and the restroom were all shared on the second floor so on the middle of the night if you want to urinate you will need to go to 2nd flr if you are located in the ground flr, there’s also no elevator for big luggages and the stairs were so stiff. Not convenient with people who have big luggages and kids.

Wonderful Stay!Stayed 3 nights at Alpenblick and it was amazing! Staff were friendly, breakfast was tasty, and the views of the Alps in the morning were unforgettable. The location was a bit tricky on the first day as the bus stops around 6:45 pm, so we had to carry our luggage—but it was totally worth it. Highly recommend!

Perfect location right next to the city center in Grindewald, worth for the price if you are traveling by yourself to hike. Amazing breakfast.

Shower had a few issues but besides this stay was really worth the price

Cute Chalet type hotel just up the hill from town (500m?) with it's own bus stop and very good restaurant. Amazing view from the room and from the restaurant, comfy beds, adequately sized room and super friendly manager Jurg! The meal at the restaurant was outstanding and I would recommend you try it at least once. The breakfast was very good as well.

You get what you pay for. Alpenblick is more ski lodge than chain hotel- specifically it has shared bathrooms and showers. They were well maintained and everything worked so just match your expectations to what you paid. It's a good value.

The food in the restaurant was outstanding.

Our room was spartan and small and could use some upgrading.

The breakfast was great. The view outside our window was stunning. Good location and walkable to first mountain cable. It also had a spacious room

Great views, decent breakfast. Stayed at the start of September and didn't have many other guests so luckily did not have issues with the cramped rooms or waiting for showers (only 2 showers on our floor).

The room is essientially 2 x 8 bed dorm rooms. Each 8 bed is compartmentalised into 2 or 4 beds - the 4 bed 'room' is extremely tight with no floor room (if we didn't leave our bag in our car we would have to put it in the 2 bed entry 'room') and you can reach across the floor with your arm from one bunk to the other bunk in the room. If the other bunk had guests during our stay could imagine it being uncomfortable or very 'cozy'.

Well ubicated, it has almost its own bus stop. Incredible views. It felt really cozy place to stay

The Alpenblick is reasonably priced in the popular, and mostly expensive, destination of Grindelwald. The included breakfast was good and a sensible choice given the cost of food in the town. We liked the ‘mountain hut’ vibe although the basic nature of the accommodation may not appeal to everyone. Free parking is available (about a dozen spaces on first come first served basis) and the accommodation is right on a bus stop into the town and the terminal. Overall, a satisfactory base for a couple of nights.

This has a hostel feel to it with shared showers and toilets. Quite a few rooms share 2 showers and 2 toilets so we did find them all occupied at times. The rooms are basic, with no tea or coffee facilities. The staff could be a little friendlier. We found the beds, and pillows in particular, a little uncomfortable.

Super great location, not too far from the main part of town but far enough away to be in a quiet area. The rooms were good, nothing amazing but very nice still! Breakfast was very good and had a decent amount of options. Overall a great place to stay.

    8KrauspePosted on: 9-4-2025

It has really good views and is well located, near the bus station. You can also walk to downtown, but it’s about a 20-minute walk. Our room was very clean and had a balcony with a really nice view

It’s an old building, so it’s easy to hear noise from the other rooms. The people in the room next to ours were especially noisy.

    10PhilipPosted on: 9-1-2025

We really enjoyed the views of the surrounding mountains, the top floor terrace, the friendly staff, and dinner at the restaurant in Hotel Alpenblick served local delicious dishes!

    location

I don’t know how this hotel gets an 8/10 rating, because my experience was nowhere close.Sure, the location is near the bus stop, breakfast is just okay, and one gentleman on staff was polite. But the rest? A total letdown. Two of the ladies working here were flat-out rude. Ask them a question and you get a nasty look, like you’re a problem for wanting basic answers.Dorm rooms are tiny, cramped, and the decks are ridiculously low.Pillows are terrible you’ll wake up with a stiff neck, guaranteed.Flies everywhere. For a hotel, that’s disgusting.Internet is so slow it’s basically useless. This hotel might fool you with decent reviews, but the reality is very different. The way guests are treated (In my case) here is unacceptable, and the facilities don’t measure up. I would never recommend this place to anyone friends, family, or all followers.Pay a bit more and will get a better service,

Absolutely stunning location, friendly staff, clean rooms and good breakfast!

    10susanPosted on: 8-30-2025

Beautiful room with everything we needed. Our room had private access to the terrace on the top floor, which had an amazing view of the mountains. The breakfast was also excellent.

The only thing we were disappointed about and didn’t know is the fact that the laundromat is not open on Sundays. Wish we had known this.

    10SuzannePosted on: 8-26-2025

Breathtaking view from our window and a large outside terrace with tables and chairs just down the hall always open, even for stargazing!Wonderful old hotel with history and charm! Don’t expect luxury accommodations but if you want an authentic Swiss experience away from the touristy center of town this is the place. Short walk or bus ride to town. Delicious breakfast buffet and restaurant on site. Laundry facilities.Stayed 3 nights- not long enough!

Service not too friendly at front desk or in restaurant.
