I did not like being charged an extra 45 or 50 Euros for "local tax" at the end of the booking process. This is the trick that some airlines use: having gone through the lengthy booking process you are told that you have to pay for baggage

I continue: To avoid having to go back to the beginning - looking for another flight or airline - most people just accept the additional cost. But it's not cricket! For the non-British, this means unfair, unethical.

InteriorBreakfast Location

Google maps takes to side entrance which is 2 to 3 floors high. Had to drag heavy suitcases almost 2 floors high.It would have been helpful if the owner told that main entrance was on the road as she already knew about Google maps mis direction.

It was charming! It is a place that feels authentically Swiss. It is near the main road but set back so it was quiet yet everything was accessible. The view from our room was breathtaking! It was nice to be able to sit on the balcony and take it in. We appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good also.

Excellent location, not too far from train and next to the First lift right on Main Street

Nothing, it was perfect for our stay

Location was perfect, right next to the first cable car station. The room was spacious and clean, albeit a bit old fashioned. The staff was super friendly and kind.

Breakfast could be improved a bit. Also it's a bit pricy, but I guess that's just because it's in Switzerland.

The hotel is old and lacks the ventilation. Room wasn’t good at all.

Location was great and my view was wonderful.

I did have to carry my heavy suitcase up a flight of steps, but I kind of knew I was coming to Europe and that was gonna be the case.

One the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Staff is wonderful and, helpful. The Chalet style is very familial with nice local decorations.I am looking forward to coming back to stay here.

Location was perfect in the heart of town but close to the train station. I was able to walk next-door to do the first Grindelwald lift. Be sure to use your half pass there. Check-in staff at the hotel was amazing and very friendly. I felt very comfortable staying there alone.

Great breakfast with fresh ingridients, fresh made eggs. Rooms are comfy and clean. Parking is easy. Decoration is a Bit 80is.

Great location. Friendly staff. I was surprise that key gas to be left in a board in exchange for the building key, where any one can have access to the room key after that. I suppose is safe but I had never experienced that key system before.

Loads of choice for breakfast. Hotel is ideally placed for access to the gondola. Room was great and staff were very good to us.

Breakfast was lovely - great choice, well presented, very helpful & friendly staff. Perfect start to the day in the Alps! Room was very large, very comfortable, stunning view from the balcony.

The location was great it was just off the main road so there was no noise, but was still central to everywhere in town. The cable car/ski lift up to First was right next door which was very handy and the bus route to the train station passed by the end of the drive way. Breakfast was continental style with a wide variety of options to choose from. The facilities were spot on. There was even the oportunity to book in a private session in the sauna. But best of all, each member of staff clearly loved their job and were extremely kind and friendly. They were very knowledgeable too and gave tips for places to go in the area and surrounding areas. We felt very welcome and would definitely stay here again.

I found the lady that checked us in quite abrupt and unfriendly but the morning staff at the breakfast made up for it

This was a great place to stay in Grindelwald! The staff was friendly, the location was awesome, the breakfast was delicious! It was within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and activities.

Fantastic breakfast! Great location! Little bar for drinks, tea or coffee was quaint and relaxing...nice outdoor seating. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Owners and staff friendly and helpful.

Need better WIFI!
