Hotel Churfirsten

Hotel Churfirsten is located conveniently near the Walenstadt train station and has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The staff here is kind and speak English very well. Rooms are spacious and I would gladly stay here again.

This was a gem of a find! The hotel is very beautiful and the surroundings with the lake and mountain wall and waterfall are splendid. Restaurant at the hotel was very good also - especially the soups were delicious!We spent only one night at the location before traveling further into the Alps but would definitely like to return for some hikes and bike riding.

The room was comfortable and the hotel was close to grocery stores.

My room was facing the street and the trainstation, so when I had the window open, it was very loud, which made it hard to sleep. As there was no air conditioning, I needed to keep the window open.

Very spacious and clean room. Very friendly staff. Well located, close to the centre and a few steps from the train station, perfect as a departure point for some nice hikes.

I missed a minibar in the room.

The hotel was perfect in all ways. The room was spotlessly clean throughout our stay, a great size with nice decor, with a stunning view of the great mountain edifice which overlooks the village of Walenstadt. The breakfast is delicious and fresh from 7 each day, as is the evening restaurant (the pizza is amazing). Reto and the other staff are so kind and hospitable, it is such a nice and warm place they run! The hotel is also ideally situated next to a train and bus station, for access by railway from Zurich (and Zurich Airport), as well as for skiing in the resort of Flumserberg; one can easily get to both Tannenboden (444 bus, then SJ gondola), and Tannenheim (444 bus and S17 train). One can truly relax and rest excellently in this hotel, the atmosphere is that of great peace. Well done!

Great staff, the man working there was very friendly and welcoming. Perfect location for reaching Flumserberg, just 10 mins from the nearest telecabine.Nice breakfast as well!

Hotel Churfirsten is conveniently located just across from the Walenstadt train station and is a special hotel in this small city. This area is so so beautiful, the staff is incredibly friendly, and I would gladly stay here again. Breakfast is nice and has a good variety, and the rooms are spacious and have amazing views.

A small hotel adjacent to both the towns rail station and the main road leading into it.The room was extremely (almost comically) spacious.The restaurant downstairs offers excellent food, and is shaded by a huge, gorgeous, probably centuries old tree.

The hotel's location results in a lot of traffic noise, both from the adjacent very frequented road and from trains. The restaurant's exterior suffers even worse for this, at time once could barely carry a conversation due to the immense traffic noise. The hotel is unfortunately located in what is a beautifully located town.When I arrived, there was no-one in the hotel and I was required to self-check in using keys "hidden" in a small "locker" next to the entrance. Fortunately some Swiss who arrived at the same as me helped me figure out how this actually worked.

Breakfast was very good. Freshly baked bread even though I was the only guest. Very diligent service. Usual continental fare - yoghurts, croissants, bread, ham, cheese, fruit juice.

The room was very hot with no air-conditioning and with the windows open the trains were very noisy. There were no staff at check-in (just after 6pm) so I had to ring to be told where the key was and I had to let myself in. I would expect this with an Airbnb but not an actual hotel. That said, all the staff were very friendly on the phone (and in person the following morning).

Good value, not luxurious good location good parking.
