About

Located on the upper part of Palau, 4-star Hotel Palau has far-reaching views of the Maddalena Island, Caprera and the other islands of the archipelago. It offers elegant air-conditioned rooms, restaurant and 2 pools. Rooms are complete with a satellite TV, mini-bar and fully equipped private bathroom. A buffet breakfast is served each morning while Mediterranean and regional specialties can be sampled in the restaurant. Just a short walk separates it from the Port and Marina, one of the most beautiful of Sardinia, where you can enjoy enchanting views over the surrounding islands. The hotel is also located just 1969 feet from the beach and offers a free shuttle to and from it every day. When you are not exploring the coastline, you can relax by the seasonal pools; one for adults and one especially designed for children. Tennis, windsurf and sailing as well as scuba diving are popular activities in the surroundings.

    Pros +

    • Beautiful hotel with a beautiful view! Amazing water pressure but the shower didn’t quite drain fast enough so it over flowed a little bit. The room was very clean and the staff gave complimentary champagne.
    • We experienced the best services ever at the hotel! We want to highlight the restaurant manger who was very friendly and polite and gave us great recommendations. Also the waiters, reception stuff were a 10/10.
    • Great location, clean, great amenities

    Cons -

    • It ended up being very windy the night we stayed so the TV didn’t work and the air conditioning wasn’t super cold. Also it cost extra to use the pool.
    • The room could use some modernization, especially the furniture but that is not a big issue.
    • Nothing. All good

Such a pleasant surprise!! We fell in love with hotel palau after booking it randomly for a few nights- went above expectations

Was a little far from port but not bad like 15 min walk

The staff was extremely helpful & professional. The grounds & view were beautiful. And the towels & presentation of everything was 1st class,

The beds were VERY uncomfortable....It would have been nicer if they ran the shuttle a little more often. It was a HIKE uphill to the facility. And the dinner was terrible. We had an expensive meat that was tasteless, not one once of seasoning. Presentation excellent, atmosphere excellent, food terrible...Lunch was good though.

Views were beautiful. Pool area was very appealing as was the restaurant. Staff, especially Bianca, the maitre d at the restaurant, the young gentleman serving cocktails to us by the pool, and the shuttle driver were especially wonderful and attentive!!!???

Some details could’ve been improved — peeling door paint & the wobbly towel bar (which caused me a scratched arm!) were lacklustre.

Service minded staff, location close to activities, excellent breakfast, helpful with extra towels and blankets upon request, extra hour and private room to shower after our last day even though we had checked out already. Chilled complementary bottle of Prosecco on arrival was a classy touch and appreciated!

Beds on the firm side, which is typical for Southern Europe unfortunately. Breakfast could have included tea cups in addition to coffee cups (i.e., a bit larger). Was not clear what was included in the breakfast price (e.g., capuccino, espresso by order to the waiter) and what was additional (e.g., fresh squeezed orange juice by order to the waiter).

Staff was wonderful, pool was fantastic, complimentary 20 min welcome massage was a nice touch, and they sent me a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday upon arrival. I’m not usually a huge breakfast fan but they offered a very large variety of options plus have a made to order grill so everyone can find something to eat. Like other reviews state, the hotel sits at the top of a hill so I can see how it might be tough for those that have trouble walking uphill for extended periods of time to get to and from beaches (about 20 min walk to any beach), the port (15-20 min walk), or restaurants on the Main Street without a car. This wasn’t a problem for me at all though.

The pillows were really flat so were a bit uncomfortable for me personally

The location and the view of the hotel We like the champagne gift

The staff during the dinner and break was very stressed and didn’t speak good English

    9MartyPosted on: 6-25-2025

The room was very nice - sitting room and bedroom - and the shower was excellent. The breakfast was lovely!

I felt the front desk staff could have been more accommodating to English speaking patrons.

Breakfast was good, loved the lilacs, didn't try the pool but convenient location, ample parking, good shower, friendly staff. Perfect for a quick overnight to go on the La Maddalena boat trip which was fabulous.

Door was a bit sticky and TV wasn't working but they sent maintenance to fix so all good.

Really nice hotel with pretty pool area and nice restaurant. Very helpful and attentive front desk staff that worked to resolve a couple of issues really quickly with a great attitude and confidence it will be resolved properly. Nice view of Palau and the the island plus it's a good spot for sunsets. There is also a shuttle that can be reserved to go down to the town or port. Easy drop off for any boat tours as well as pick up. Needs to be reserved.

I found it odd that there were no drinking glasses in the room, not even a little plastic cup in the bathroom. I eventually received a glass form the bar In a couple of minutes. The last shuttle from port/town to the hotel is at 5:30pm which seems a bit early to me (perhaps this is seasonal). My tour didn't end until almost 6pm so I walked back. It is definitely walkable but be prepared, it is like San Francisco - it's a hike and google maps takes you the long way. There is a staircase from SP121 (street) to Via Tirso that cuts of about a block of climbing at the end. It pretty much deposits you right at the hotel. Look for it and take breaks on the climb as needed!

The view is spectacular, the hotel is perfectly located in a quite street with enough (free) parking places available. The hotel staff is really friendly, the kids enjoyed in the swimming pool and looked forward every morning for again a delicious breakfast.

The location was beautiful, a bit of a walk but the views were stunning and it was close to a supermarket. The room was large and we had complementary fruit and champagne on arrival. We had breakfast and dinner each night, dinner was 4 courses and a different menu each time! We were some of the last guests to stay before end of season so it was very quiet but the staff still made a great effort to help us have a nice stay. They were all very helpful.

Staff were v v v good breakfast excellent but it’s not a 4 star by any meanA 3 starIt’s need investment to bring it to a four star level

Hotel is worn and needs investment Has huge potential

Very good accommodation, and very friendly staff. The staff were very helpful.

The only issue was the lack of an Iron and Ironing board in each room, this is a must have for most travellers

    8RichardPosted on: 9-1-2024

Great pool, free private parking, Prosecco on arrival, really good breakfast

Housekeeping very hit and miss, toiletries often not replenished, bathroom old and needs updating

    10AdrianaPosted on: 8-29-2024

Property’s beautiful. Common areas such as pool and outside restaurant are the highlights. Rooms are incredibly clean which is so important to me! Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had. All staff was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The hotel’s area at the beach is wonderful. Location is great!

Bedroom furniture is a bit dated. A/C wasn’t the best but it wasn’t terribly uncomfortable.

    10IgaPosted on: 8-27-2024

The food at the restaurant was totally amazingly tasty. Apart from that, the rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. We even received a welcoming bottle of prosecco upon arrival that waited for us in a Cooler in the Room- This nicely surprised us. The stuff was very helpful and gave us all the information and support we needed.

No elevator for the baby trolley.

Resort was very quiet with availability by the pool and comfortable sun loungers. Breakfast was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. The availability of sun beds on the nearby beach was an added bonus. The cocktail night for all guests was a lovely touch.

Loved everything and I would highly recommend it to family and friends, Thank you.
