    Pros +

    • Everything! Large room with The Most Comfortable bed we slept in during our month of traveling. The Bar was relaxing and sophisticated, met a few different people over cocktails.Staff was friendly and Helpful - when a Transportation Strike changed our plans. They helped with restaurants etc
    • Lovely hotel very near to the littlePort, shops and eateries. Exceptionally clean and welcoming, with a very relaxed atmosphere
    • Great location - breakfast expensive no continental option and bar shut but the room and staff were excellent.

    Cons -

    • We didn’t realise that we had booked an atypical room which basically was a bathroom downstairs with a bedroom up a very steep staircase. Not at all what we had expected and it did lessen our enjoyment of our stay.
    • Breakfast at the property is expensive
    • Shower was poor. Dated bathroom no where to put toiletries. Terrible nights sleep with loads of Mosquitoes, Bedding too hot. Breakfast room too small and very cramped.

Very quaint French style residence in the middle of the beautiful town of St Martin del Re. Easy walk to shops, port, bike hire, beach. We simply lived the charm of this hotel!

Breakfast at the property is expensive

Property has a lot of character, charm, and privacy. Location very close to the port area, is great. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Pool and garden are great place to unwind and cool off after a couple of hours of cycling. Appreciated the 4 electric vehicle charging posts also!

Our room was in a historic listed building, hence no air conditioning. But the room had a good fan!

La Baronnie is superb - the rooms, bar, pool and gardens are all stunning . And the staff are incredible - they cannot do enough to help you and make your stay extra special .

The hotel has a charming reception team who all spoke excellent English (Annabel's was near faultless) and all of whom went out of their way to help with restaurant bookings, cycle hire advice etc. The location of our room, the standalone "Pavilion Jardin", close to the beautiful garden was a bonus. Whilst it overlooked the pool on one side, this was not an issue as the pool shuts at 7pm, and the pool users were very considerate. Air conditioning, a comfortable bed, and a spacious bathroom made for a very comfortable stay overall. The extra charge for parking may seem a bit steep but given the limited availability of spaces in the streets around, definitely worth paying for. (We hardly used our car in the 5 days we were there - we explored almost entirely on foot or by bicycle - but had driven down from St Malo. If flying to La Rochelle, you would not need a car.)

It doesn't detract from the overall rating, but breakfast, at E25/head, felt rather expensive, so we only ate there once (the scrambled eggs were, however, superb!) There is a great boulangerie, which also serves coffee etc, a stone's throw away by the port, and as breakfast is not included in the room price, that is an easy alternative.

    Massages, beauté de l'hôtel, calme

Love the history of the building and way it has been tastefully restored

That whilst they don’t accept dogs to stay the owners have a dog who rules the roost and also barks at men. The owners seem oblivious to its presence all around the hotel.

Location was perfect. Staff very friendly and helpful before and during my stay. Beautiful bed linen and comfortable bed. My room was perfect and so Ile de Re. Top marks.Pool area while small was lovely. Spotless.

    Nothing. All was excellent.

Great location close to the centre of St Martin de Re. Secure parking and a lovely comfortable room. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was a buffet, a good selection of hot and cold food and pastries. Very pleasant bar serving a small selection of cold plates - charcuterie, cheese and smoked salmon. Good choice of wine. Lovely live jazz evening

Great location, lovely old buildings. Super breakfast room manager.

They put our 2 rooms on the opposite side of the hotel, so our kids were a long way away. They blamed booking.com which is odd. We had to get the owners approval to turn on the towel rails in the bathroom. A fan was running all night the first night, but they did fix for our next 3 nights.

    Very little.

The room we were shown to was completely unsuitable, with steep winding stairs from bedroom to bathroom. Extremely hazardous for anyone needing the bathroom at night. When asked for a change we were given a different room with an inflated price. If they had adhered to fine public relations it should have been the same price. The whole hotel was vastly overpriced for the facility offered. A comparable breakfast could be enjoyed sitting by the port at half the price they charged. There were no toiletries provided. 2 cookies provided on arrival were not replaced but the empty bag was just left on the tray all visit.

Great place and people. Because it is great you expect slightly more from everything

The breakfast was great but thé croissant and pain au chocolat could have been fresh from the morning from a local bakery while they seemed to have been frozen. Fruit salad was ok but we were missing a bit of the great fresh fruit of the season
