Grand Hotel Villa Balbi

Excellent location, old world charm, but modern and comfortable rooms with friendly and attentive staff. Lovely breakfast every morning.

Bed was a little hard, service at the beach club was minimal for the price, but had only just opened.

Suite with the terrace was fabulous, like a dream. The breakfast was very good and so was the dinner.

Fantastic hotel and super friendly staff. The view from the apartment overlooking the riviera was stunning. Amenities were great including the buffet breakfast. We stayed here in September and there were minimal tourists, perfect time to visit!

Our room was lovely, quirky (a door leading up some stairs to a roof-balcony!) and the bed was extremely comfortable. Location was amazing, right on the seafront and in the middle of the town. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Delicious cakes!

Villa Balbi is very grand and it therefore seemed a shame that some of the decor needed love and attention. There were plastic 'glasses' in the bathroom which seemed at odds with the beautiful 'feel' of the hotel.

The room was newly renovated. The staff (at the reception, at the restaurant, lifeguard) were highly attentive. The pool was very clean.

Breakfast was a little bare bone. I think it’s a common thing but having to pay €50 extra for beach club access is a little too much.

The breakfast was excellent with a really good selection catering for all tastes. The location was superb being in the heart of Sestri Levante with all facilities in easy reach. The room was comfortable and clean with private ensuite. The staff were excellent : friendly and professional. I would easily stay here again.

The property is in a fantastic location and has great facilities - some stunning original features also. We thought the staff were great - attentive and professional but personable and nice all at the same time. The restaurant and bar were our favourite during the trip - the tastiest food we experienced in our 4 night stay and the best negroni sbagliato in town! The breakfast service is excellent, of a high standard and quality for a buffet offering. The pool area makes for a peaceful retreat when the beach is busy. Our only observation is that the rooms are a little dated in places but the furnishings are nice and it is a traditional hotel. Thank you for our lovely stay.

Excellent location, very central. The breakfast very nice, lots of choice and pleasant setting. We also ate here in the evening on a couple of nights which was lovely. Food and service excellent. The room was lovely very spacious, modern and clean. The pool area was nice, particularly for a central hotel.

One 'niggle' was the hire of 5 euros per day/per person for pool towels, something we have not come across in a long time, and the cost of sunbed hire of 50 euros per person/per day on the hotel private beach. Fortunately we were a couple travelling on our own but feel this is very costly if travelling with a family.

This hotel has a perfect location in the city center with lots of restaurants around and the beach across the road. The beach is with additional charge, as well as the parking. The room is of a good size, shower is comfortable. The room was very clean and the staff is very kind and helpful.

The staff were so helpful and happy to speak in English but also happy to let us practise our Italian. Breakfast was excellent we loved the terrace and delicious selection. The location is opposite the beach and plenty of shopping and food around. We would love to stay again.

Not a big deal but something (sign) to leave on the door when you don’t want or need your room cleaned.Fresh towels every day is lovely but I feel unnecessary

Beautiful grand building, location is perfect, pools and gardens very peaceful and generous breakfast.

Rooms are a little tired, could do with some slight renovations.

Great breakfast, love the hotel and trappings and the garden is peaceful and well maintained.

Fabulous breakfast (you could even have cake if that floated your boat). The Concierges were very helpful and most speak good English. Thank you especially to Massimillio on the front desk. Bedrooms were provided with comfy beds, lovely big towels and aircon (a must!)

Exceeded our high expectations! Super friendly and professional staff, very nice room with a view of the water, and great air conditioning. Fantastic breakfast served outside in the garden, delicious coffee, and a very fresh buffet with everything you could wish for.
