About
This 19th century country house, in the Alcanar Oasis in the south of Tarragona, was used by Alfonso XII as a summer retreat. Here, within this enclosed area, encircled by orange groves, you will feel like royalty. Within these peaceful surroundings, you can go for a cycle ride, swim in one of the 2 outdoor pools and play a game of mini golf. The beach and port area are a short walk away, where you can soak up the sun and watch the play of boats on the water. Enjoy the luxurious accommodations and spectacular surroundings of the Tancat De Codorniu.

Pros +
- The hotel host, the pool bar, the pool music and the charming atmosphere.
- The hotel was amazing. Down side was Restaurant not open was told food available at the bar But only small plates ( Tapas) very limited and very expensive. . So had picnic in the room with food from the car ?. .
- Beautiful location in Orange orgards. Very nice breakfast location in a glass altana in green.
Cons -
- No elevator. It was in construction.
- We initially drove past the front entrance which is a gate to drive in.
- The first night we were on the second floor in the main building without a lift. I will be 90 this month and made it with great difficulty. A lift is needed. The staff were very concerned and transferred to two garden rooms which were much better. However in none of them were there accessible showers and toilets. With an ageing population should not these be standard in this class of hotel.

Beautiful resort with wonderful facilities. 24 hour bar and food service. Relaxing lounges and fireplaces. Free parking.

It has a delightful setting in an orange grove with palms added to give a subtropical atmosphere. The breakfast venue under a wooden circus tent with views all round of orange trees and palms was superb.

Didn’t have breakfast the location is good
The bed it’s awful, terrible backache the pillows are really hard ,when you ask for more they give you one just as hard, like bricks.and a good sleep it’s basic..NO OPTION FOR EATING, you either have expensive gourmet food , but if you do not want that kind for many obvious reason, like staying for days this is not the place.
Room, gardens, pool, free bicycles
All good
We arrived late after a long day of travelling. The receptionist came out to meet us and made us feel very welcome. She offered us an electric vehicle charging space. She showed us to our room and then arranged for an evening bar meal. We went for an evening walk amongst the orange trees and around the gardens. The breakfast was all we could ask for
Good staff, clean and beautiful
Amazing garden and property with a lot of options between the pool, the large garden, the walks around and the sea nearbyGreat service and restaurant
It would be great to reinvest in the minigolf ! :)
Really nice room! The location is great and private. In the parking there were orange trees and we took some. The breakfast was amazing.
Not sure why but it was a bit noisy at night. For the rest it was perfect.
Big bedroom, great breakfast, quiet and beautiful hotel with an almost private beach nearby.
Peace and quiet, lovely food and super comfortable room
Beautiful setting in an old citrus orchard. Super friendly staff. Luxurious feel. We were upgraded to a large bungalow with an outdoor jacuzzi. Might be the best price/quality ratio accomodation we've ever had.
Almost 10/10. Maybe the fact that the restaurant was closed (but we were visiting end of February).
Huge room, nice but pricey breakfast - a place for couples, in season I think
Very beautiful entrance and alley to the reception. Beautiful park surrounding, or being, the hotel. Stayed in a”tropical” room. Big, with a private, almost garden like outdoor area. Super.
Only one thing. You can not close the bathroom door. It is a glass door that only falls in place, leaving no privacy.
Stingy management and no internet/wifi in rooms
Disappointed. I had multiple reservations at the hotel and the restaurant over the holidays, but I needed to cancel 1 night because my partner (who was 1 of the guests) had COVID. They made it so complicated and would rather have a guest with COVID come to the property and expose everyone else. Well, I cancelled $500+ of my other reservations and will not return. Pretty dumb (and unsanitary) management decision. Also, on Booking it says wifi is available everywhere. In the rooms we could not connect to the internet at all, on our phones, computers, or on the TV. The receptionist messaged, "In the rooms the connection is not good and there is practically no Wi-Fi. The main antenna is far from the hotel." So good luck if you work online or if you're from the 21st century. I've stayed in the Sahara desert and tree houses in Turkey, and they had the brains to install functioning wifi. This hotel doesn't even take the time to update their property details and advertise their property accurately. Finally, I have eaten at the restaurant a few times, including for the big tasting menu. Take your money and go to one of the many Michellin-starred restaurants nearby. Like the hotel, the restaurant is trying to be upscale but it fails.
Breakfast was good, but the service was slow. Only 1 server on duty. The room was large and tastefully decorated, there's some lovey artwork in the hotel. There are some cosy spaces with open fires.
The room was a bit chilly (December) There's no lift (Elevator) The only option in the restaurant was a "tasting menu" I would not have chosen this if there was an alternative.
