The location, the room, the restaurant, the staff....we loved everything about the hotel
The breakfast & rooftop views were great! Perfect location - I could walk everywhere & felt safe as a solo female traveler.
The walls were very thin. I could hear everything my neighbor was saying.
Staff so helpful! Especially Lily ! She made wonderful dinner reservations and helped with our transport to the airport!
Hotel clean and the rooftop is beautiful with delicious food
The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and respond to our requests.
There was a small issue with the shower, but they fixed it right away.
Great location and delicious breakfast.
Rooms didn’t feel clean, the king suite was tiny and the whole place didn’t feel like the pictures.
El Carmen hotel exceeded our expectations from all aspects. To start with, the staffs are very kind and helpful. Lily Ortiz from hotel's Tourist Information arranged us a very comfortable and sizable car to pick us up from Guatemala City to the hotel. We were nicely surprised the hotel sits right in the middle of the old town, 5 mins walk to the central plaza. The hotel is very beautiful, fits well with the Spanish colonial style of Antigua town. The room is spacious, beds comfortable, hot and clean shower and nice toilet. We ate both breakfast and dinner in hotel's rooftop restaurant. The scene is unbeatable. We can see three volcanos in one view, and the bell tower of the Cathedral. The food exceeds our expectations too. Not only they cook traditional food well but also all the western foods we are used to in United States. Even my children who are very picky with food love the food. From the hotel, we can walk to all the major scenarios by foot easily. Lily gave us an old town map and shown us all the place to go. In the last night of our stay, we watched the fireworks at the plaza and walked back within 10 mins. Very safe neighborhood. Oh, cross the street is the Casa de Jade, which has a museum and a workshop. Our family really enjoyed the workshop to make jade necklace ourselves. The staff's English is great. That's a big plus in Guatemala. We are also very nicely surprised by the cute animals the housekeepers made with towels. They are very ingenious and skillful.
On our return trip, the driver who supposed to drop us off to the Guatemala City took his wife and kids with him. that was not very professional. The car was also not as good as the one that pick us up. It was a last minute change from the car company. I don't think it's the fault of El Carmen hotel whose staff apologized to us. But, they should have managed their vendor more carefully and don't get their vendor to ruin their reputation and their relationship with their customers.
The friendly atmosphere and great location ! Special thank you to Lilian from the travel Agency the hotel is providing ! Such and amazing and knowledgeable person ! We’ve have enjoyed all tours and tips she gave us
All was Amazing
The view , the staff very friendly . The food was amazing :)
Location was great, central, close to food
The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Very central to the activities we had planned for our trip.
The did not provide a space to hang clothes and I understand that the room is tight due to the built of the house.
Affordable, clean, comfy and close to the central park.
The location
The rooms are damp, no ventilation, and it’s moldy smelling which was causing me to get sick. Please remove this hotel from booking.com
Great location, clean, nice staff, and great terrace for breakfast.
Room felt a little small, in particular the bathroom. The pictures for the queen size room are misleading.
Nice location. Clean place. Nice breakfast
Rooms are rather small the place feels bit cramped.
Location is quite centricLovely courtyard and upper terrace
The bathrooms could use ventilationZero sound proof to windows/doors. Can hear everything happening in courtyard and I’m sure courtyard can hear anything in roomsSome sort of event in courtyard our last evening so came back to clamoring noise which sure ended at 8ish but kind of not ok in my opinion to have a loud event on the same space where rooms are. It was impossible to be in room with it going on
This was a pretty and well placed location. Close to everything!
Small bathrooms, but really well maintained.
