Pros +
- AC which a lot of places don¿t have. It is a beautiful hotel close to everything
- Service and the quality of amenities. Location is prime !
- Very quiet rooms with solid walls and doors especially important at night in Antigua. Limited number of rooms which made it feel like a boutique hotel as the name implies. Staff was calm and wonderful which helped my limited Spanish speaking ability.
Cons -
- Mosquitoes
- All was perfect.
- The TV unfortunately did not work for us (connection error), but it was honestly entirely ok because we were there to relax and connect with each other. We engaged with other activities in the hotel (beautiful in-room jacuzzi, gorgeous external terrace, pool and reading room) as well as outside the hotel rather than decompressing with TV. I'm sure it would have been a quick fix by the hotel staff the next day, but again we took it as a sign to explore more outside of our comfort zones.

We were blown away by the beauty of El Convento Boutique Hotel from the minute we stepped inside and all throughout exploring its scenery. To learn about the rich history it houses not only by way of architecture but art and reading pieces within the hotel was mesmerizing. The staff was attentive and kind - we found this heart-warming character trait everywhere we went in Guatemala truthfully. The hotel was impeccably clean and comfortable; and the centric location was very convenient in the highly walkable town of Antigua. We also had dinner in their restaurant - good things all around, if you're thinking of dessert go for the flan it was FANTASTIC!

Amazing stay- staff went above and beyond and gorgeous room in a converted attic overlooking the town
The rooms were spacious
The employees- I usually never leave reviews but the experience I had with the two women at the front desk was very displeasing. They overcharged me for an extra night and then said I did not pay for it after I showed proof that I did. I asked them to check their records which they said they did not have the receipt but I had a receipt and showed my bank statement that I was charged twice. The man who charged my account also lied and said we were only thinking of staying an extra night even with proof showing he charged me twice. After I told them I would dispute the charge the manager told me to “go and do it” and said I would have to pay again for the extra night. Very unprofessional and my husband and I left feeling very upset and scammed to be honest especially with us not being fluent Spanish speakers. We ended up going to a near by hotel instead. Do not come here unless you want to be overcharged, this definitely put a stain on my birthday trip. I have traveled to numerous countries and have never dealt with anything like this.
The staff where very accomodating, very comfortable beds, lovelly surrounds and centrally located. To be recommended.
I like the space the area the aesthetics
We didn’t get the room we paid for and they did nothing to help
I love the style of the hotel the antiques, beautiful look the staff was awesome. Very welcome. Very sweet. Show me very good hospitality. I will always come back El Convento. I love everything about El Convento 100 stars ✨✨✨♥️♥️
Everything
We we joyed the pool, the gardens and having breakfast next to the pool. The location was great, central and easy to walk everywhere. The shower was great!
I didn’t like the attitude of the waiters and the chef. I ordered an avocado toast (which is usually served in normal slice of commercial bread) and specially requested to change the bread to ciabatta. The fist day the agreed and the second day, they were reluctantly accepted saying that the next day they would charge extra for the bread change. I was very upset with this answer. I payed almost $300 per night and the fact that the chef threatens to charge me for a change of bread, is unacceptable. Service is the key. Perhaps you should review your guest service policies.
It’s breath taking ! Staff is amazing some of the nicest people . We felt very welcomed that we decided to extend our stay. The hotel is clean, relaxing and food was great .
Loved this hotel! Immaculate details everywhere. The location is walking distance to everything, it’s very clean, they pay attention to every little detail, the staff are so helpful (they respond right away with WhatsApp), they helped us arrange a shuttle from the airport. And it’s not too big so it feels quaint.
The concierge service was pretty good and the hotel is beautiful.
This hotel is WAY overpriced for what you actually get. For one, there was not even warm water in our room for the entire stay. When the hotel was unable to give us a similar room, they offered to take a very small percentage off the room after I pressed the issue multiple times. In addition, the hotel was under construction and was extremely noisy, so it wasn’t relaxing at all. Would recommend avoiding this place since there’s much better options in Antigua.
Charming hôtel in rennovated couvent. Small & charming.
Limited breakfast menu
Fabulous suite with jacuzzi and fireplace, great heated very comfortable and quite EXCEPT for the construction crew hired by the hotel
The biggest problem could have been easily solved … a worker came the first morning at 7:30am to very loudly and constantly hammer the steps leading to my room the entire day. I got the desk to move his start time a bit later , but really no guest wants to be woken by a guy hammering six feet away!
Such a beautiful property, high ceilings, and it came with breakfast in their small, but beautiful restaurant. Very pretty architecture and centrally located.
During my stay I did not see many people. I hate crowded places and this hotel despite being small , felt comfortable and quiet. The drinking water available for guestThe shower
It was perfect
Great location, beautiful/peaceful surroundings
No gym
Room, breakfast and location.
I could not get the television to work.
Location
‚Very nice, atmospheric hotel in a good location. Unfortunately, the breakfast was disappointing. The choice from the menu was not very wide, no fruit. You have to pay extra for good coffee. The pool was very small with cold water. A good hotel but not worth such a high price.
