This was a great place to pamper ourselves after many nights in albergue dormitories on the Camino. This historic building is truly exceptional and it was really neat to be able to tour the monastery cloister and church directly from the hotel. Very comfortable room.

Good price Food fair Nice old building
We thorough enjoyed staying here as a treat. The hotel is lovingly restored but the comforts and conveniences are modern, the beds are comfortable, and the decor is lovely. We ate dinner here and enjoyed the wonderful food and service. If you have a chance, check out the cloisters and the older parts of the monastery (not always accessible if there are functions outside).
The temperature is centrally controlled, so the heat came on at 9 pm even if it was cold, and we couldn't turn it off when it got too hot.
The reason to stay here is the architectural significance of the historic monastery. The courtyard with the cloisters is like stepping back in time. It also reminds me of being on the set of Robin Hood or Game of Thrones. It is absolutely incredible.
What I didn’t like was most the staff you could tell was “done “for the season. Staffing at the front desk was pleasant but minimal. The bartender was very nice, but the staff in the restaurant conveyed an annoyance that we were there.
Whats to not like. A beautiful 10th century Monastery, where they used to like pilgrims.
The staff was RUDE!! I service…basically you are on your own. If you need or ask for help with something ie wifi, no bathrobe in room you get such an attitude. They said they could not do my laundry because you have to stay 2 nights. They just want to avoid having to do pilgrims laundry - they know we are only here 1 night. They treat pilgrims like they are plagued. I would recommend checking it out, walking the grounds, its beautiful, but dont spend the money expecting to be treated like a human.
I stayed here at the end of August. The room was elegant, and the property was beautiful. There was sense of tranquility in the entire property with Gregorian chants in the background in the reception area. It was a peaceful place to unwind after a long day walking the Camino.
Unfortunately, the hospitality seemed a little cold, especially at checkout (at 730am). The older man at reception barely acknowledged me, avoided eye contact. I had a suitcase that I was leaving behind for the luggage transfer service to pick up. When asked if I could leave it at reception, he led me to the storage room and made me put it there myself, which seemed odd since every other hotel handled that for me. For a 4-star place, this felt a bit cold and impersonal and also dismissive. I might not have thought much about it if the man had a more pleasant demeanor, especially so early in the morning. Management should reflect seriously on how guests are being treated, and whether all staff are upholding the level of professionalism and respect that’s expected at a 4-star hotel.
Gorgeous building with fascinating and interesting heritage - especially for those, like me, that are hiking the Camino de Santiago and interested in medieval history.
It was the first time in several weeks of hiking on the Camino, that I felt unwelcome. Every staff member that I dealt with seemed aloof. I wonder if this high-end hotel wants the pilgrim crowd or not. I was wondering if it was just me that felt this way. However, unsolicited, I heard the same thing from another pilgrim as we exited the hotel.
The Monastary is gorgeous. Our room was huge! The bed and linens so comfortable. Beautiful historical experience!
Our friend could not join us at the breakfast buffet because she was not staying at the Monestary. Her only breakfast option was toast!
The history of this place is unbelievable and you feel like you are staying in a museum. Grounds were equally peaceful and inviting with large umbrellas on the patio to shield you from the Meseta sun while enjoying a beer…
Lukewarm water
very unsatisfying for supposedly four-star hotel
The receptionist was unhelpful and unfriendly. The TV did not work at first and it took a long time for them to get it working. The Internet connection was very poor so that Netflix and Amazon prime did not work at all on the TV. though the receptionist was not busy, she hurried through the check-in process without offering any information and was unfriendly. She acted like it was a bother to receive a guest.
We wanted to pamper ourselves on Camino Frances, and we weren't disappointed.Everything about the hotel screams Class and OLD Grandeur. The building is really majestic and impressive. Old paintings drape the walls on corridors. They even have a museum on the premise. The staff were efficient but a bit aloof except a young gentleman who worked in the dining room. He spoke fluent Spanish, English (and also French?). He was everywhere, always working and always had smile on his face. Thank you!!! A buffet breakfast was also included in the price.
Amazing historical location with direct access to view the church museum. It is located as you leave town and right on the Camino. Extremely quiet and room has a bathtub!
Tourist hotel.
Amazing old monastery property with onsite museum. The bar personnel were friendly and helpful.
Not told that dining room required reservations. Alternative restaurant lacking quality dining options for the cost a four star hotel.
it's a beautiful hotel- great parking.
walls are thin- you can hear neighbors. breakfast was not great- the eggs in the bar were not fresh eggs but boxed eggs of some kind. boxed eggs have a funny taste and for the price of the buffet is weird to be using them. i am not sure why a lot of hotels here in spain use these boxed eggs- particularly when it is a nice hotel you pay a lot of money for.
Beautiful historic property, staying at the hotel gives you access to the museum and cloister but you have to ask because the front desk doesn’t explain that.
Dinner service was slow and the food was only OK. Was expecting better for the price. Location is not close to the town center, so as a tired pilgrim we chose to eat at the hotel rather than walking back up the hill for other options. Bar staff was friendly and helpful but no one else was. Would not stay here again.
It is a lovely property.. right on the Camino and very convenient. The rooms and the beds were very comfortable and the history and age of the place are impressive.I was to leave very early in the morning and asked if I could get coffee or an electric kettle before I left.I was told no there would be no one in the kitchen at 7 and I couldn't get a kettle either. It's funny because the breakfast started at 8 and I heard it was fabulous. Was there no one there preparing breakfast?Did the kitchen staff not drink coffee? And for what I paid in a 4 star hotel I think it's shameful I couldn't be accommodated. I had to walk back into town , passing many pilgrims heading out, and had to wait for a restaurant to open so I could get my coffee.Very poor customer service. If you want to sleep in and pay a ton for breakfast, then go for it.If you're a pilgrim who wants to start early, bypass this place.
Wouldn't accommodate a simple request for coffee before 8
Lovely room. Poor support from staff to book restaurant and poor ability to support options for meals outside of limited restaurant dinner service.
Staff provided no guidance on importance of reservations for evening meal. No flexibility to eat outside of one restaurant.
