    Pros +

    • Beautiful hotel - everything renovated with so much attention to detail. Everyone we met there was kind and attentive. The sheets were smooth and soft, the bed was comfortable & the food was delicious. We loved being able to go to The Golden Rock Spa for free as part of our stay. We were told there are great walking trails that start from behind the hotel. We didn’t get a chance to explore.
    • Beautiful expansive access to the spa pool. Friendly staff - Lucia was most welcoming.
    • Warm, welcoming and beautifully decorated to blend original elements with modern comforts. Staff exceptionally kind and helpful and I loved the general quiet atmosphere.

    Cons -

    • The restaurant closes for two nights every week & those were the nights of our stay. There aren’t many good places to eat nearby,
    • Having to pay for the pool cap, but I got over it. LOL
    • Spa needed to warmer. Water that came through the various massage jets was often cold.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options and high-quality ingredients.Everything was spotless and impeccably clean. The spa was very quiet and peaceful, providing a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. We visited twice and had the space entirely to ourselves, which made it even more enjoyable.

It was quite difficult to contact the property by phone. I tried calling about six times while driving there, but couldn’t get through. Eventually, they called me back, which I appreciated, but for a 5-star property, I expected a more responsive approach. We had dinner at the restaurant on our first night. The meal was good, but for a 5-star hotel, I was expecting more in terms of the menu variety and the quality of the food. It was enjoyable, but not quite up to 5-star standards. (In my opinion of course)On Sunday morning, the sauna wasn’t functioning properly—it wasn’t as hot as it should have been. Unfortunately, I ended up not using it.

Stayed there before. That answers the question.

We deliberately chose to stay there again. The last time everything was great. This time though, there was NO restaurant service for the guests, only service for tour groups.A nice hotel with no restaurant service for the guests? We won't stay there again.

A truly charming boutique hotel, within a stunningly restored 1500's convent, with a relaxing pool and spa, and excellent breakfast. The rooms are well appointed, very spacious, and all of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The in-house restaurant and bar are also excellent, probably the best in the area.

To be honest I could not find any negative pointsThe facilities were excellent, the staff absolutely attentive and amazing. Dinning and bar food was superb. Value for money, the best ever I have found.Congratulations to the team who looked after us so well !!

beautiful building and lovely views over the countryside

Bathroom was enormous but there was nowhere to put personal toiletries - even a shelf would have been helpful

Breakfast was served in the central atrium which was a lovely location. The buffet had a very good selection of food. Staff were attentive and friendly.

    There was nothing I disliked.

    Breakfast was fine .

They virtually turned off the air conditioners to the entire facility . We paid for air conditioning .,they must be in financial trouble as they are cutting costs everywhere .. no tissue in the room!!! One bottle of water no matter how long you stay !! So no water for coffee! Terrible

Truly amazing experience. The staff were super friendly, and the convent was modern and comfortable whilst retaining its charm. The restaurant served the most amazing food and the massage was superb.

    The location and the building

Terrible breakfast, lack of comfort from the room

Beautiful setting, quiet. Historic building was well done a mix of ancient and modern.

Food and drink was a little pricey, but not too bad.

Beautiful facilities, nicely restored. The fireplace by the bar is also a cool stop to be!

I think the breakfast wasn't what I expected. It could have been better. I expected more hot food to be available.Second, the pool wasn't as warm as I expected it to be. There were 3 degrees outside and it didn't felt good to dip the toes in the water.

    7MartinPosted on: 11-27-2023

nice location inside of the old church building & close to the park, service was nice

forget the spa, sauna doesn't work properly and needs forever to warm up, pool is small, you need to buy a swim cap for 5€ & the salt floating is not accessible breakfast was really basic, don't understand all the praising in the the reviews

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This hotel, right by the bike path, is a delightful find in a charming area. The facilities exceeded my expectations, offering a clean, private, and quiet retreat. The room was spacious, featuring a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed. The breakfast was fantastic, fresh and tasty. The interior design perfectly captures the historical charm. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon. Highly recommended!

I stayed only one night. :))

Clean, quiet and amazing hospitality Definitely will come back there

The bed wasn't comfortable as i expected

The hotel is in a beautiful location where you can see spectacular sunrises with the morning fog covering the valley. The room was beautiful and spacious. We had a birthday dinner at the restaurant and were given a birthday cake for free which was wonderful. The outdoor pool is big and looked very inviting but we didn't use it as it was a little bit too cold for us.

Room is equipped with a smoke detector which has 2 red flashing lights just above the bed. By the time we noticed it was too late to tell reception but next day upon request they covered it for which we had to sign an agreement. Guests should be made aware of this to avoid having a sleepless night. Not everybody will mind but at least you have a chance for a good night sleep.

The Hotel is a beautifully converted convent with views from the side to the Serra das Estrelas mountains. The interior is tastefully decorated and the rooms are modern spacious quiet with en suite. The bed was comfortable. With an indoor pool and spa sauna & an outdoor pool within a lovely garden. We ate dinner here and whilst not a huge variety on the menu the food was excellent and not expensive The breakfast the following morning was the best we had had after travelling most of the week . We would definitely stay here again and cannot rate it more highly.
