Pros +
- Wellness, location, friendly staff
- Very well located to do trekking in the area (right next to a GR trail). The spa was very good, especially after a long walk in the forest. Great breakfast buffet. The room was comfortable and clean, including a very comfy bed.
- Lovely location and friendly staff
Cons -
- The restaurant's look and feel grows old quickly. Nothing too serious if you are only staying a couple of days... Plus, there are other dining options in the area.
- I booked a twin room for me and my 14 year old son, but they gave us a double bed in a teeny tiny room. Somewhat bizarrely, the corridor walls are covers in fake plastic grass; not sure how that stacks up on their sustainability agenda, having the walls covered in plastic. There are some lovely pics of the pool etc on the booking website, but transpired that to have a swim costs €30 each and then they had the cheek to try to charge us another €22 each for gowns, towels and slippers, so using the pool for 3 hours cost more than the room! The restaurant is super expensive, so we opted to eat out in a lovely bistro locally at a fraction of the price.
- For a 4 star hotel. Everything was extra. Parking, towels and robes. Most places offer a free towel /robe in the room. And as for parking. You had to pay for this too which seems ridiculous as you need to drive to get to the hotel ! We booked the spa and received a token for a drink. We both don’t drink and they only offered us a fruit juice as an alternative. Again most 4 star hotels would have had a non alcoholic sparking wine. The staff didn’t seem to have any idea about anything. And we’re not very happy. The only person that seemed to care were the lovely ladies that were cleaning the rooms as she helped me with some directions.

Hotel is located not very remote meantime gives a feeling of being in forest. I guess this is best destination who enjoys the spa procedures.
Corridor of room entrance is very dark and bit confusing, easy to get lost.
Good location and breakfast
The bed was double but with 2 beds so it wasn’t comfortable.
The wellness and relaxation area was amazing and the views into nature are great. The serene surrounding is definitely worth a stay and it's very close to Malmedy and Monschau.
The restaurant food wasn't great and definitely not worth the prices. I was impressed by the decor but the food din't convince at all, that's a real pity for such a great hotel.
It’s super nice and Cozy with awesome wellness facilities . Perfect for a couple/family retreat to spend a quiet time !
Everything was great but may be some other food options than Italian would have been nice !
Very helpful and motivated staff
The gastronomic restaurant was closed - despite booking a table there .Lots of extra's to pay in the wellness area
Friendly staff, clean, rooms well equipped, location was close to nice walks and restaurantsEven all the negatives, this didnt spoil our stay, it was just disappointing
- Sauna: No value for money. The charge the use for 3 hours but there are not enough saunas to use this up- Checkout: We book the sauna from 9, meaning we could leave at 12, which was after check out time, and for 1 hour extra of the room they charge us 50eur, so we decided to leave earlier the sauna, which was a good decision, sauna was not worth it ! - We expect the indoor swimming pool was part of the hotel and not from the spa, that means if we want our kids to use it we need it to pay the full fee....this is not clear in the description - Breakfast was in the room due to renovations, this was not stated either- Even they have their own parking you need to pay....again pay for everything...this was not mentioned either in the description- This is definitely not a 4 star hotel - the bar very basic....the serve Nespresso- Displays/communication was mainly in French - Very bad internet - Every time you sent a message you get this LONG autoreplies
Not worth going there unless you like to be ill-treated
1. Breakfast was served in a basket in front of the door. There was no warning about it at the time of the booking.2. Huge discussion with the young employees at the reception. All kinds of arguments were made.I am coming to this hotel since 25 years! NO respect for my loyalty as a long-term customer.3. When I asked to speak to the manager, they said there was no manager on-site. The reception even said that “the manager could not be called”! 4. No choice of the breakfast either: no eggs, nu fresh yoghurts… only “breakfast rolls ” which are not compatible with my dietary requirements. The list of abuse and frustration is very long.Clearly there is a new “management” and the hotel doesn’t deserve a **** ranking. Plus Aucune service à la clientèle.Good that there was no fire or other emergency with “no manager” policy. And this is supposed to be the high season!?
Very fair price for the room, the room and bathroom were excellent situated in a beautiful landscape. Unfortunately we did not have time to experience the wellness facilities.
Due to renovation breakfast had to be consumed in the room. Breakfast was OK but could have been better knowing the loss of experience / convenience / atmosphere having breakfast in the room. Similarly dinner was outside the premises where to you had to walk in the dark along a dangerous road. There was no recognition of this inconvenience, nor of recognizing visitors from abroad (who do not speak French unfortunately). I would expect better of a 4-star hotel.
Hotel Design, SPA facilities, bathroom
Hotel restaurant is undergoing renovation. And the outside restaurant is not easy to find in snowy dark winter evenings, and somehow it exist on apple maps but not on Google maps. Reception personnel could have provided a little more accurate instructions
Breakfast no good, no value for money.
We had to book a timeslot for breakfast. We chose 10am. When our timeslot was up, no more eggs, no more bacon, no more fruit salad. I have never encountered this in a 4 star hotel. Actually, all IBIS budget hotels I've been had a better breakfast.Rooms: OK for a 3 star hotel.
Clean friendly
No caffeinated coffee strangely for breakfast????
Location, they upgraded us to a suite for the first night. It was clean, good bed
The aircon in the suit didn’t work sufficiently. We decided to stay an extra night and was moved to another room which was not a problem although this room had no aircon at all! We were told the price for the night was €60 excl breakfast. The price including breakfast was twice that amount. They catch you on the price of the room which is very deceiving. The breakfast is rather simple for €60.
Near hiking routes (by car). Breakfast was very nice. Modern hotel.
Spa facility (incl swimming pool) was not included in hotel price. No kettle, no mini bar in the room. Suite room had open bathroom (no door).
Good products for breakfast
All extra cost for a spa hotel (parking, spa,…)
The location in the Hautes Fagnes is an area of natural beauty, cooler than Brussels (nice on a hot summer day) and close to the highest point in Belgium. The hotel has professional staff. The wellness center is nice if not so big: indoor pool, nice places to lay outside, outdoor hot tub, two saunas outside; one sauna, one hammam, and one hot tub inside. It is good for a 3-hour session. The room had a sitting room in addition to the bedroom, which gave it a spacious feel. The breakfast has various options and is nice space and you can even take your coffee outside with standing tables. The hotel offers a lot of massages and other wellness activities. There are even alpacas available for taking a hike and other activities. It was nice to see that the hotel has moved to be sustainable with a solar PV facility.
The toilet is in a separate room from the bath/shower, which is fine, but the toilet room was so small that it was very difficult to sit on the toilet with the door closed. You need to reserve ahead for many activities (massages, treatments), which for a smaller resort is understandable, but still, some people might seek more flexibility. It would be nice to have a second hot tub outside and have a bigger pool, but this is not to say that you will not enjoy the wellness centre as is. They should have a master key for the lockers - my friend left something in a locker and another person closed it without noticing the items already inside and this created a problem. Not a dislike (and no issue for me as I speak French) but just be aware to not expect all staff to speak German, Dutch or English in addition to French.
The location is amazing.
Beforehand i made a reservation through email and got now confirmation so i called the hotel. Receptionist was rude and told me i did something wrong when i did exactly what the instructions said in the booking.com chat. I wanted to stay for one night with breakfast and spa included for my birthday. Nobody congratulated me. It was in my reservation because I traveled alone it would have been a nice gesture to at least acknowledge my birthday. I had dinner at the hotel restaurant too food tasted great but portions where really small they kept giving everyone extra bread probably because of this haha. For a 4 star hotel the restaurant is not 4 star worthy as a former waitress. No offence i had a nice time but it’s just not at that level.
