    Pros +

    • Exceptional friendly breakfast staff and the breakfast itself.
    • We enjoyed our three night stay at the Hotel Pelikan. Despite being located in a busy section of town, our room was surprisingly quiet despite the outside noise. Our room was small, basic and matched the pictures online plus comfortable and clean. Check in/out was smooth and easy, which included a welcome drink. Free street parking is available but can be crowded at times (although we always found a spot). The wifi connection was spotty. The breakfast was good with varied menu choices. Despite what's mentioned in other reviews we were asked but not pressured to book a boat tour. We elected not to which was fine with the hotel staff.
    • Most of the trip to this hotel was ok but we had sell the Skatdar Lake boat tour on arrival. He started at 100 Euros each and ended up at 50’butbthen there was 5 Euro add on tax. Probably better getting a joint trip not private. Then I went to big hotel only to find front door was locked at 11.15pm and I had no key!

    Cons -

    • The room is very small. The TV looks like it comes from a time warp machine. The mosquito netting on the windows was torn, the old timber shutters wouldn't close properly.so they were no't able to shut out the noise or light. The bathroom is tiny. The very small fridge next to the bed is noisy at night, as is the air con. .Even a timber strip on a corner of the walk was just hanging Obviously not much maintenance if any being carried out these days,, it's a hotel resting on its laurels of being the first in Virpazar. The owners forte is selling boat trips on the lake....and in his own way is very good at it to guests and those who pass by his hotel by car or by foot. Our three hr trip was in a big loud slow boat with a noisy inboard motor. The captain did point out a pelican. Overall rather boring except for the beautiful early morning reflections due to no wind.We didn't complain about the room as I know others have in the past and we would only be wasting our time
    • No blinds. We hadn't realized that the outside shutters could close to block out the street lights. Sadly we didn't learn about this option until we checked out and mentioned to the receptionist that the street lights were glaring.
    • A horrendous experience. We were “welcomed” by a very rude lady, to a room so tiny you couldn’t open a small luggage on the floor. No space even for a small side table or shelf to charge a phone. Barely space to circle the bed. The bathroom is even worse. The Tv on the wall is a relic from the ‘90 as is the rest of the “furniture”. No shower gel or hand soap in the bathroom. But we found some used slippers. In the morning we went for breakfast where we were asked to seat at a table with a dirty table cloth with dead flies on it. When I asked to change table, the same “pleasant” lady said that the other tables were prepared for the lunch and we couldn’t use them. I asked to change the table cloth and she just wiped the dead fly off. That did nothing to the other stains of course. We left without breakfast and we will definitely not come back. Side note. The day before, the same “charming” lady tried to sell us a boat tour for at least 30% more than the average price you can find in town.

The only good thing is the location. But there are plenty of alternatives.

A horrendous experience. We were “welcomed” by a very rude lady, to a room so tiny you couldn’t open a small luggage on the floor. No space even for a small side table or shelf to charge a phone. Comfortable bed. Right at the entry of the village. It has a small restaurant next to it.

Old. None of the WiFi routers worked. Devices connect to the router but there is no internet access. Blinds were not functioning because of broken handle and we had to hang a bedsheet to block the light. Telling manager did not help. Waste of time and effort. Staff don’t understand English very well, and miscommunication is the norm. The manager is a local hustler who behaves like a band leader of a group of locals who await unsuspecting visitors at the entry to the village like vultures scrapping for a carcass. The reviews are fake, or at least the good ones are. He goes around asking the customers to write good reviews, and I bet the staff, family and friends to do the same. He hustled us into paying €100 for a 3 hours lake boat trip that could have been completed in half that time, misleading us that we will miss our chance if we don’t book asap. A Balkan hustler. After arrival you realise how many others offer the same or better services: food, accommodation, boat tours.

The bed and bathroom was not so big but good-value for one night stay.People were very nice to provide great hospitality,

They were very nice and helpful staff !They are offering a welcome glass of delicious wine from the area of Skadar lake

    5PavelPosted on: 8-11-2024

The location is great for starting boat tours on the Skadar Lake. The room was passable, but very dated (the TV set must have been from the 1980s).

The owner (Mark) is very arrogant and, despite us being very tired after a long trip, he immediately started pressuring us into buying a boat tour the next morning at highly inflated prices (about 300% or €100 higher). He used bullying techniques such as saying that we would get arrested by police if we went with other tour providers and that we would face two-hour long waits to buy tickets from the park office the next morning unless we purchased the tickets from him immediately then and there in the evening (the wait actually proved to be only a couple of minutes). Also, the waiter at his restaurant Pelikan said that we could only pay by cash, while it turned out the next morning that they do have a working card machine, so the cash-only statement was a lie.

Location and the staff were nice. Comfy bed and hot shower, so all good.

I'd recommend both the hotel and restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I stopped on a bikepacking trip and no problem to store my bike. The hot water and high water pressure of the shower were truly a gift!! I had trout at the restaurant it was really fresh and flavorful. highly recommend!

The staff was very friendly, in particular, the waiter in the restaurant who advised us well to have our breakfast before we drove to Podgorica airport, assuring us that it is only a 20 minutes drive away and we have sufficient time. The dinner was fabulous especially the chicken soup and the grilled mushrooms.

The AC in both rooms did not work. We let the hotel staff know and they went and checked and said it's working but when we went back to the room the AC did turn on but there was no air coming from the AC. Also there should have been some mosquito repellant device provided in the rooms as we had to keep the windows open as the AC wasn't working. There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower area but it was empty. .

Very nice hotel staff and good breakfast. Great morning boat tour.

Manager pushed us to book a boat tour at a high price as soon as we had arrived and had not settled. Seemed he's trying to get as much money out of you as possible. Location is a bit noisy as at start of road that turns off of main road so has many cars.

This hotel was located right near Lake Skadar, in walking distance. The restaurant served great food & was reasonably priced. The room was simple, but I was expecting that. I was able to arrange a pick-up from the airport. This was perfect for enjoying nature and getting away from busy tourist areas.

I wish I'd known ahead of arriving that the hotel offers boat rides on Lake Skadar. I'd already booked a trip by the time someone spoke with me about it. The trip back to the airport was difficult by train. I was advised to walk along a route off the main road, and it was a difficult walk with my luggage which I carried a lot of the way due to the rocky terrain. A taxi or shuttle to the station or airport would have been better.

The staff was very friendly, they did their best to welcome us and helped to organize a trip on the lake. Breakfast was fine.

At the entrance of the (very small) village, we were surrounded by people organizing a trip on the lake: one of them was our host, proposing quite a high price. It was a place intended to rip off tourists. Also, we had to wait 15 minutes to pay with a credit card instead of cash (not a problem of this structure only, but of whole Montenegro)

Well situated, clean and tidy hotel. kind personnelThey were kind enough to get us a baby cot.

I found the fact of being pushed to book for a boat ride inappropriate.

I felt like I am a movie star in an old italian film :) Fabulous little hotel at the central town square! I loved arhitecture of the hotel and old style bilinds on the windows - "škure"! Marko was a great host. He recomended boat excursion which was fantastic! He has helped a lot on my way to Virpazar suggesting best directions. Ladies working at the reception and in a restaurant were very nice and polite. They have recomened little antique exibition at the attic of the hotel. My best recommendations for Pelikan hotel!

Location. The brakfast was simple, little choice but good. Wellcome drink and a small check out gift. The staff is doing their best, service was OK. The host is offering the boat trips. Aircon in the room was very silent and powerfull enough (remember it is only a tiny room)

Room is very small, the beds were average. The sink in the bathroom is record breaking small - do you want to shave or wash your face? Don't even try - will flood the full hotel. Shaving light over the mirror was not working. The light in the bathroom was "last century" illumescensick - push the button and have a smoke before the light goes on. TV set was like stolen from the museum - very "classic" but with remote control so not so old :) At the check in the host had the prints from booking.com with 54,02EUR but asked to pay 70EUR - I felt he wants to rip me off, hope I am wrong and that was only a mistake...

Hotel is located in the center of the village Virpazar. Beds were comfy, air condition was working well, taxi transfer to the airport arranged by the hotel worked fine.

The behavior of the hotel's owner was really strange and misleading. He was trying to get 10/10 review of his buisnesses (hotel/restaurant/boat tours) by forcing us to publish the positive reviews. When he realized that we booked our lake boat tour with another compay via booking.com he told us that the boat tour for his hotel guests is for free (which is not true cause we've been asking hotel after our reservation via booking.com app what would be the price of the cruise and they've written us it would be 15 eur per person). We had an early check out and we've asekd if we can get a take away breakfast, the owner confirmed that it would be prepared for us. We got no breakfast and the crew of the restaurant pretended they don't understand us when we were asking for the breakfast in the morning.

Friendly helpful staff, good restaurant, beautiful location, very nice breakfast, good value for money.

Some of the amenities did not work at the time (out of soap, TV broken)

    8LejaPosted on: 5-3-2023

The staff were very friendly and helpful with the questions we had. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the food at the resturant Pelikan was delicious.
