Staff were so helpful with our questions and offered terrific recommendations for our stay. Great location, lovely pool area, delicious and varied breakfast buffet, comfortable beds, great shower. They helped us arrange a taxi for our arrival.

The room was lovely as the hotel seems to have been recently refurbished. The view over the long Hendaye beach was amazing. The cleaning staff were professional and left the room in great shape every morning.

The check-in process was full of frustration for us due to the treatment that we received from the reception clerk. We arrived on an early-morning flight and the clerk showed openly her frustration when we arrived to leave our bags at 9:30 AM. We never requested early check-in and we did not expected, but were unpleasantly surprised when we observed other customers being treated differently while we waited in the lobby. Some of them were offered a room immediately even if they arrived 5 hours later than us and in other cases, the reception clerk would call the cleaning staff to speed up check-in for them. In our case, we had to wait until 3pm and complained about this discriminatory treatment, which the reception clerk called "selective gentilesse". They never did any effort to speed up our check in process and this was a very frustrating beginning of our trip. The price for breakfast is crazy high so we never opted in. It allowed us to discover some of the great breakfast places in town (8 minute walk) or in the port (2 minute walk). I understand the new management might want to pay off the renovation as soon as possible by hiring untrained reception staff and by increasing margins on the breakfast, which reduces the overall satisfaction with a good hotel, although its's probably closer to 2/3 stars than 4.

Beautiful well decorated room with view of the pool. Great location just a short walk to the beach and local restaurants/shops.

The Hotel Ibaia was more than fine for our needs for a short stay. The room was clean and spacious enough. The staff were courteous and efficient. Breakfast had plenty of choice.

There were no issues at all.

Very nice hotel. Bed was comfortable, nice room.

Paid for a superior double room but was given a standard. AC was not working and had to call receptionist everytime we had to adjust it!

    Exceptional

The centered temperature left my room being exptremly high so i was hot sleeping, but i called the reception and they changed it inmediately.

Breakfast. Eggs were cold! They should be kept warm. Bread was hard...

Lovely location, well appointed room, clean.

Amazed that the restaurant was not open on a Saturday evening. In fact there were very few restaurant options at all near the hotel.

    Great location& Breakfast!

The decor of the corridors were dark and out of keeping with the rest of the hotel.

Our stay at this place was very good. Nice staff. Clean hotel. Good (but very expensive) breakfast.

Great location, close to beach and also the boat transfer to Spain. Best hotel shower I’ve had! Pool was excellent.

Room had ants in it but maybe due to it being summer. Unusual bathroom set-up - toilet in a separate room, wash basin and shower in another.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location facilities are excellent and staff very helpful and friendly

€19 each for breakfast was expensive considering we had the same selection at a holiday Inn that was included in the price breakfast was very disappointing

    10ShuliPosted on: 9-13-2024

The hotel is located on the border between France and Spain in a wonderful location on the edge of the ocean. We arrived late in the evening at the train station and could not find a taxi. We called the hotel and they immediately helped us and ordered a taxi for us. The room was exceptionally clean and pleasant, as was the breakfast, and above all, the service was excellent.

The only thing, it is difficult to get to and out of the hotel without a car and the taxis were expensive.

    7IanPosted on: 9-6-2024

Well positioned, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

Encouraged to reserve a table for dinner in the restaurant. As it was we were the only people in the restaurant! An oddity was that they only offered cold food. The food was good but we would have liked hot choices.

    9LoretoPosted on: 9-4-2024

Everything. Location, clean, size of the room, pool.

Breakfast is not worth the cost.

    9BarbaraPosted on: 8-28-2024

Comfortable room. Nice small balcony. Good breakfast.

Although generally pleasant, they were less than helpful. The exception was the bar waitress, who was generally rude.

    9AlisonPosted on: 8-27-2024

Room was attractive, modern, clean and a great size. Comfortable beds. Great to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and somewhere to refill water bottles. We enjoyed having a balcony in the early morning (regrettably, not so great later in the day due to the traffic). Hotel is in a great location for the beach, restaurants and cafés etc. and is within a 30 minute walk to the old centre of Hendaye where there is an excellent market. We liked having the pool as an extra option when the waves were particularly large. We had an infestation of ants in our room the first night, but this was sorted out rapidly and effectively when we reported it the next morning.

Pity that the street outside the hotel is not as calm and residential as it first appears: after mid morning there was a constant stream of cars trying to find a parking space, and the resulting fumes made sitting on the balcony unpleasant. Thankfully, it was quiet after dark. The young men at reception could make more of an effort to be welcoming and helpful.
