- Excellent location, staff friendly, good food. Beach and view amazing. Would highly recommend.
- The hotel is simple but it has everything you need to enjoy some time off. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, excellent air conditioning and amazing pool and ocean views! The location is great, the very large pool with a fun bar and right behind it the beach. You can easily walk to Finikounda but there is a small hill you have to deal with (Gramma said no because it was so hot but there is plenty of parking in town). :) The hotel is run by a very nice Greek family.Finikounda has a great vibe, lots of good restaurants and a few fun excursions to offer. We loved that there seem to be a lot of Greek tourists and it wasn't overrun with others. Prices are much cheaper here than in other parts of Greece. Overall, we spent a very relaxing week here and would highly recommend it!
- The hotel is in a really beautiful location and has lovely gardens and a large well kept pool. Rooms were a good size and clean. There is a lovely outdoor restaurant, run by very helpful staff.
Cons -
- My only suggestion would be to change up the breakfast a little bit every day for those people who are staying longer. The bread tasted old (cut too early in the morning?), so either different bread, let guests cut it themselves or offer a toaster.
- Getting to the hotel on foot with luggage (from Finikounda) was a nightmare that involved a long winding uphill road. Apparently there's only one taxi and it was busy for the day. It's possible to walk part of the way via the beach (which shortens the walk) but that's not sensible with luggage and if you don't know the route. I'm more than happy to recommend the hotel for those with a car but it's not ideal if you're travelling by public transport.
- Honestly our stay was perfect

We loved the breakfast and had everything we could want. The food was great with a food selection and the setting perfect - looking out over the sea.The pool area was very well maintained and the facilities were great. Beautiful view of the beach with free beds if you preferred the beach. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Honestly our stay was perfect
Location, beach, swimming pool were fabulous. Staff in pool bar were great. Fantastic air con
Pillows were a bit uncomfortable. Our door was difficult to lock and the room was sometimes left unlocked by the housekeeper

Bedroom next to kitchen- really- noisy from early morning Hotel tired
Pool area and beach area are nice. Also next to a lovely beach bar called lemon drops which you can walk to along the beachfront. Cleaning staff in particular were lovely and friendly. Snack bar by the pool has quite nice food. It is walkable to the village is you’re fit - but isn’t suitable to walk in the dark as no lights. Aircon was pretty good and our room had a fridge which worked well
Certain areas really need improvement. Apartments are tired and old fashioned but thats what you expect around this price point. Breakfast was pretty bad most days - UHT long life milk for coffee and someOf the pastries were hard and inedible. Other mornings there was a selection of pastries which were quite nice. No hairdryer, no plug for the sink, Wi-Fi was very weak, aircon unit leaked water onto the balcony, shower head not mounted (but that is quite common in Greece) Bed sheets appeared clean but had yellow stains on them no excuse for that. The pool water was very blue but looked murky and we weren’t sure how clean it was. The place itself has a far nicer view/pool/beach area than many other hotels we’ve stayed at but it lets itself down in other areas and doesn’t make the most of itself.

Non existent wifi , chaotic checkin, room looked nothing like the photos , tv didn’t work and when I went to tell them , the owner promised to send someone - no one arrived .
Great location super clean great and friendly personnel and excellent mattress!
Top location, right at the beach, only neighbour is an o.k. beach bar. Nice pool, great for kids, with very friendly staff and a decent drinks & snacks section. We could book a family room for two adults and two teenagers. Should be no big deal, but is far from usual practice.
The whole place is, well, a little run-down. The bathrooms are very basic, and accommodation has not been maintained properly. Beds are absolutely o.k. though. The reception area has not seen any makeover in many decades. Breakfast is dissapointing. Management is kind of negligent, though not unfriendly. Summary: a fine place that could be fantastic with more effort and a vision. Now it looks like their best days have long gone.
The property was very clean, quiet and next to the beach. The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for the hospitality.
We loved everything
They had a great breakfast each morning. The location was not walking distance to the city so you would require transportation. But it was so beautiful and very quiet. They did have food to order at the hotel that was delicious and another restaurant a short walk down the beach.Rooms had AC and were nice. The pool was beautiful. I recommend water shoes for the beach. Overall it was a great experience!!
Seems like most of the beds in Greece are much harder than in the USA but we felt with it.
Extremely friendly people working at the hotel. Great costumer service. Wonderful pool area, delicious food and the location of the hotel is excellent. Would always stay there again.
Fantastic beach and pool area. Nice pool bar and restaurant, friendly staff
Uncomfortable pillows
The location is amazing, walking distance to the town centre , the swimming pool and the beach are fantastic, especially for the kids. The staff were all extremely helpful and very accommodating!
We were in the family room, and it was not very clean, the bathroom was very run down with black mould on the side of the wall and the bottom of the shower curtain was also black all round! It needs updating and better cleaning.
Pool was fantastic, location of hotel was good and staff at pool bar were very helpful.
Breakfast was terrible, little choice and stale bread
Second time at the Golden Sun. I enjoy the pool and beach below. Comfortable matress on the bed. We stayed in a side view room this time. Equally as Comfortable however if the sea view rooms are available definitely worth the extra for the stunning view. Breakfast is plentiful . Continental. My only gripe is the coffee however you can order from the pool bar. We ate several times in the evening. Nice homecooked food. Snacks , club sandwiches etc available all day by the pool. Overall very relaxing. I would return.
Pool and beach are awesome!!French fries at the pool bar excellent!
We were there in mid-October, when the tourist season was practically over, and a lot of the amenities were closed. Our ratings would probably have been more favourable if we had been there in the summer, as this looks like a very nice hotel with a nice pool, right on the beach. Unfortunately when we were there the pool was too cold to use, and the restaurant was closed. I think we were the only guests in the entire hotel, as we did not see anyone else other than the staff.
I'm not sure why they bother to remain open this late in the season when there is obviously no business for them. Of course I did not know that when I booked this hotel online several months ago. When we pulled in we thought the hotel was closed, as all the lights were off and there was nobody around. To my surprise when we tried the front door it was unlocked, and someone who spoke no English came over and pointed us to a room. The restaurant was closed, and the nearby town of Finikounda is a good 15-20 minute walk on the road, so we had to take the car.
Close to sea, good looking pool, good beach bar
Reception non existent, no welcome. Sheets and blanket small so that we were very uncomfortable and didn’t sleep. Wanted to leave! Price of bottle wine extortionate.Cold fried eggs for breakfast.
