Pros +

  • I stayed for one night and was not sure what to expect as it was my first time staying somewhere with a shared bathroom and toilet. However, I was greatly surprised by how clean and easy everything was. The staff was beyond helpful, kind, and friendly. The room although small was perfect for my one night backpacking and the shower was easy to locate and very clean. Same with the toilet. It is not a luxury stay, which I knew when booking, but it was more than enough for what I needed. And again the staff could not be more accommodating or friendlier.
  • The location was great. Beds comfortable. WiFi worked. Breakfast was okay with a lovely lady working.

Cons -

  • It is located on the busiest street in Valkenburg so on a Saturday night if your room is on the street side it will be a bit noisy. However, I was able to sleep with earplugs and a white-noise machine and was fine.
  • To start with, there appears to be no hotel staff or desk. The restaurant staff checked us in and out. But the biggest problem was there was no/limited heat. It was below freezing outside and just above freezing in our room. The restaurant sent a waiter up to look at it - in his apron - but it didnt work. This itself is a deal breaker for me. We actually looked at leaving after the first night because of this but other options were limited in town. Beyond that, 2 of the lights in the room were out so it was hard to see and there was loud music through the first night. Do not recommend. The price paid is WAY too high for busted heat and lights, but alas, theres no one to even talk to about it. Almost comical.
