The hotel was very nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was amazing, open so you could watch the artists at work in the kitchen. The menu was varied and the meals were excellent.

We were upgraded to the sister hotel old governers house in just couldn't rate it highly enough the staff were fantastic the room superb , the facilities excellent and food was truelly fantastic ?

Room was comfortable beds were great and slept well. Breakfast was very good.

The waiter service in the restaurant was variable and as English was not their first language there were some issues understanding what was being said. There are an awful lot of staeps around the hotel particularly to the pool and the area around the hotel is very hilly. Room was very small.

It’s very convenient to explore St Peter Port. We had a lovely room with a sea view. The staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was excellent.

We booked through booking.com and was lead to believe it would be £120 extra for bed and breakfast, therefore we thought we booked room only. On the final morning we went to purchase drinks to find out we had b and b and had missed out on three morning’s break!! Would suggest staff confirm with guests on arrival their board status but also confirm with booking.com what is being offered and at what price.

What impressed us particularly was the truly delightful staff who went out of their way to make our stay special for us. And the breakfast was truly phenomenal - the range of choices was superb and there was a lot of flexibility if one wanted a slight difference from anything listed. The hotel's location, raised above the centre, was not too far to walk from shops and restaurants with several route alternatives. For visiting the island, the bus stop at Grange Top was slightly closer than heading to the Town Terminus, albeit still a few minutes' walk. On arrival, our initial impression of the building was a little negative - peeling paint and rather less architecturally appealing than our mental images, and the in-room decor (repeating postage stamp images) was striking rather than beautiful, but the room was very comfortable with almost all facilities we wanted (no fridge, but we could request fresh milk and a bucket of ice daily from the bar). We didn't get to use the swimming pool as weather was terrible so not sure how that would have been but it looked a decent size for the number of rooms.

The deco is very confused. A suit of armour, art deco touches, and photos of the rat pack and film stars of the 50s and 60s. Pick a theme and stick to it.

Hotel has a bespoke original feel. The staff were highly attentive and professional. Dressing gowns were luxurious! Excellent breakfast. Also great location.

Very little, we’d happily visit again

The bed was very uncomfortable and gave me back ache, so I hardly slept my whole time there. All of the pillows were very soft. The bathroom does not match the style of the room and feels a dated. The material the walls were decorated were stained in multiple areas in the room. It is also not very hygienic to have this in the communal bathrooms in the hotel. The hotel should warn people about the location and the hill you need to climb up. I saw many elderly people struggling to the hotel. There was a note put under my door telling me about the activities available the night before I was leaving so it was useless. This was not mentioned before this time.

We used this hotel for our formal wedding day preparations and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We wanted to stay in a specific room so that our wedding photos captured the interior design and the reception staff pulled out all of the stops to ensure we had the right room, we could check in as early as 10am and took collection of the flowers.
