Montebelo Principe Perfeito Viseu Garden Hotel

A grand hotel.

Spacious room. Good breakfast.

Outside pool closed. The hotel was empty and could have easily given us an upgrade to a room with a balcony.

The location was perfect for where I need to visitThe Hotel was really nice and modern

Old style ambience, provides the basic needs of a hotel, was very quiet/ deserted feeling (hardly any staff or guests available during the day), had to wait quite some time before the reception staff came out to reception area (with strong scent of previously smoking).

Breakfast option limited and not very appealing.

Great location, and the pool was amazing and breakfast everything was so fresh.

This could have been fantastic, but it wasn't.The hotel looks really nice and has great facilities.Free parking in a garden area with a locked gate.

The location is in a suburb with few restaurants and nothing special to do.They didn't tell us before we arrived that the restaurant was closed . Really bad.We were offered to order from the bar menu, but when we did we realized that the person preparing the food had no knowledge of cooking whatsoever and no professional knowledge of food hygiene either.It took 45 minutes to get the worst burger I've seen in years. We sent the food back and asked the reception what was going on - they were after all a four star hotel?She said they don't have to tell us that the restaurant is closed. She said they recommend a restaurant 10-15 minutes away but then she added that it also was closed. We ended up having to order from Uber eats and wait in the lobby to pick it up.After that lousy dinner I wanted a cup of tea but the rooms had no kettles. Four star hotel? Really?I had to get hot water in cups from the bar.Calling this hotel four star is too much. It looks nice, but works more like a two or three star hotel.I suspect they kept it open with minimal staff but hoped noone would mind.I will not return.

Nice “castle” with fresh renovation, ourdoor swimming pool. Big parking is available. Located a bit aside from the city centre. Good breakfast.

Lack of restaurant fur evening meal

Very nice hotel with a very relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was very good, and the dinning hall itself is really nice with a great view to the garden. We had an overnight stay as a starting point to our journey to Douro valley after arrived from Lisbon, and it was perfect for us.

Very pretty, very clean, away from city mess and noise, friendly staff and super nice breakfast.

It’s a normal 4 star hotel, nothing special. But a good choice to stay the night.

Beautiful building, nice swimming pool. Good breakfast.

It’s far from town. You will need a car or to take a taxi. The trip will take you only 5 or 6 minutes though.

Breakfast was great. Each morning we were greeting by a friendly smile and felt very welcome. There were plenty of options for food and drink, I loved the fresh fruit and the bread, also the juice and coffee.

No restaurant. Told to drive to a shopping centre to eat. Not acceptable.

Beautiful grounds, well-kept property.

Lack of amenities in the room. The bathroom had handsoap and shampoo, but no lotion or other toiletries provided. Surprising for a four-star hotel.

We chose to stay a little outside the main city of Viseu so we could be closer to the family we were visiting in Alcafache. The hotel staff were friendly throughout our stay. The grounds were beautiful. Room was large by European standards with a large balcony. Breakfast was delicious! We parked in the free public parking lot across from the hotel entrance instead of the hotel parking lot as it was easier to access.

Bathroom was private, but smaller than I expected. We had a walk in shower, but soap dish holder blocked my ability to move in the shower. Building had an elevator to access the room, but entrance had stairs with small lift on the stairs that had a remote to use, not sure if needed a key, as did stairs to breakfast room. Staff did come to help with luggage on stairs when I grabbed the remote for the lift. I had my husband help me down the stairs as staff did not offer the lift and they were gone with luggage before I could ask about the lift. ( I have a disability and difficulty descending stairs) No irons or ironing boards in the hotel due to insurance. Never heard of not being able to get an iron or board from hotel staff before. Laundry service was offered for pressing but you had to send out before Noon, we arrived about 2 and needed our clothes pressed after traveling for event the next morning. Other family staying at the hotel sent their dress to be pressed before Noon and it was not back by 7pm, but they eventually did get their dress for the event.

Room was nice and clean, beds are comfy and the hotel has a nice environment. It seems just right for one night.

Breakfast was quite poor. Could use greater variety.
