    • It was originally a bank and you can imagine that when you walk into the lobby. We stayed in the suit which is the only room on the third floor. The room is large, bed is large, the tv is large and so is the bath. We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is ideal. We found a great place to eat. Cervejaria Martins Sports Bar is across thePlaza from the hotel. It is filled with locals and the food is good. Staff is really friendly and made us feel at home.
    • Fine
    • Well located, supportive staff, good breakfast. I knew no parking place available, but used Camoes Parking on the other corner of the square. The building in the past was a bank; old safes are part of the reception counter. It looks nice.

    Cons -

    • Nothing to improve.
    • The breakfast table - all too small on the first floor. You had to go up and down. Coffee not so good - selection of cheese only one kind.
    • No issues.

This property was so enchanting! I love the fact that it used to be a bank way back when! The architecture along with the decor and cleanliness was outstanding! I will definitely be coming back here.

    Nothing to report here

Big beds, recently made facilities, good location

I didn't like the breakfast, too standard.Sweet offer was not of great quality, savoury options are standard, not bad but not great.

The location was very near the historic centre. The room was clean and pretty, with historic features. Breakfast was very good.

There were only 2 tiny paper cups, so you had to decide if you wanted a tiny coffee or for use in the bathroom.

The location was just outside of medieval center and the lobby, a former bank, was really lovely. Also the beds were extremely comfortable

The way the hotel was designed was very funky and a little unsettling. Our toilet wouldn’t stop running when we flushed it. The staff spoke limited English. The breakfast was very basic and the coffee machine was powdered milk and low quality grounds.

The hotel is located close to the historical center and the entrance hall is beautiful. It is located in a former bank building which had been beautifully renovated. My room was well equipped and the stuff was very polite.

The nearby street has cobble stones and the traffic is quite intense there even during night time. So the room is very noisy around the clock. There was also a problem with the door handle at my room when I checked in so it was very hard to lock/unlock the door. Judging by the attitude of the stuff, it was evident that the problem has been there for a while but it was never fixed. The pillows in my room were also uncomfortable and full of air.

Wonderful gorgeous and very clean Great location!Awesome bathtub! High ceilings. Used to be an old bank.Beautiful views and many balconies .Wonderful breakfast!Very helpful staff!

The sound of the cars moving close creates an echo and a vibration. Not super quiet. But there are not many cars going by.

We really well catered here at Emaj. Not only was the hotel incredibly central, the room brilliantly big but the the staff went to extra lentgh to make sure that they were even gluten free options for us at breakfast, which has not been common in Potugal.

The room color was just a bit too green.

    Pigeons were noisey

    Great location indeed.......

I don’t agree with the Michelin rating.Maybe we got unlucky with the choice of rooms (204). We were in between floors, which meant carrying our suitcase up and down a set of stairs.Parking: when we got there, there was no parking left. I don’t know how many spaces they have but it must be very few as the hotel seemed empty. We had to go to a public parking which meant once again, carrying our luggage to and from (had we known it was on a slope, we would have of course left it at the hotel). In all, not a very successful stay. But great location indeed…...

The room was beautiful and spacious. Breakfast was quality and gave a good start to each day. Location is great for easy access to all of town. We truly enjoyed every aspect of staying at EMAJ and will absolutely stay here again when we return.

EMAJ checked every box we could expect from a boutique hotel. There is nothing I can say we didn't like about our experience.

The friendly staff, the location and the breakfast

Nothing- except would like a tub instead of shower.

Choosing EMAJ for our New Year's Eve celebration was the best choice we could make. We were greeted with the kindest staff, who answered all of our questions and made sure our stay was as comfortable and stress-free as possible. The rooms are designed with taste and convenience in mind. There is no item that does not have its purpose. We were blown away with the size of our bathroom and bathtub - possibly the best bathroom design out of the hotels I've stayed in. The room is a comfortable temperature, and the temp control panel actually works, so you can adjust it without an issue. The beds are large and comfy, so a good night's sleep is guaranteed. The hallways are quiet, and the windows are well isolated from the outside noise. It was an overall aesthetic pleasure that was matched with the quality of the amenities offered. This is a luxury experience for a very fair price. We look forward to returning to EMAJ again at the nearest opportunity.

Only having one power plug available for two people in the room was not ideal to charge more than two devices. Maybe it can be something to consider improving long-term.The breakfast was delicious, but considering the overall excellence of the hotel amenities, design, and conditions, we would expect a little more variety.

Very helpful staff. The location of the hotel is very close to the historic centre. Breakfast was very good - I am vegan and they made an effort to buy in food for me to eat.

    All was fine

Location was excellent & the breakfast very good.

It was a converted bank & due to that there were very many levels which was a little strange.

Location is perfect in the centre of Guimarães. The room is nice with space to move around. The hotel was a bank and was a historical place. It has been renovated especially the bathroom area. I guess the table in the room was the old desk used by the teller which if true is amazing. It has double window to ensure the room was quiet even facing the main street. Breakfast included was fine.

Great location, staff was very nice

Dark and a little smelly, the walls in the bathroom needed new plaster. The door for the toilet wasn’t a real door. We didn’t actually have a window we could open.
