Pros +
- We had a lovely stay overall at Regina Palace. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast, pool area and spa facilities. The room was a good size with a nice (non-lake) view. The hotel decor and ambiance was great too, and staff helpful.
- Great location next to all the shops, restaurants and fairy boat pick up.
- The location was idealic the breakfast was delicious and the gardens make this a one of a kind hotel. The staff was very friendly and extremely competent
Cons -
- The minibar was touch censored and it was not possible to put any of our own water or drinks in there without a fee, which was frustrating given the hot temperature. The pillow and bed were too hard for us and not too comfortable. the WiFi cut out numerous times during our stay and we had to ask for it to be fixed.
- Two twin beds moved together doesn’t make a king bed!

View of the lake is exceptional. Access to train, ferries and old town convenient. Parking at the property is very convenient. Enjoyed breakfast.
Upon checking in I asked for a clothing iron and was turned down and told to use the laundry service. Being scheduled to attend a formal dinner scheduled that evening, I ask for assurance that I could have certain clothing returned within two hours. That assurance was also turned down, with a comment that I was asking late. I was asking at check-in around 15:00, thus I could not have asked much earlier for the service. I did not use the hotel laundry service, but instead walked to a nearby store and purchased a steamer, which I discarded upon leaving. There is simply no cause for a serious hotel to decline a simple guest request for a temporarily used hotel iron.
This is a lovely "Liberty" style hotel, well maintained with beautiful gardens including ponds and waterfalls. Service was first class and the breakfast both ample and delicious. Location could not be better; on the lake front and close to the town center.
Nice room but with an oversized bed that took up too much space. Mattress was a little tired and in need of replacement.
Only the location and the good view
The bed was terrible !!! Soooo hard mattress and pillow very heavy duvet, and the gym was sooo hot, and no iron snd kettle are provided, sooo stingy!!!!!

In a few words — a very elegant property! The rooms and public areas are beautifully furnished and presented, the manicured gardens are gorgeous and the included breakfast is a feast. The location and views this hotel has to offer of Lake Maggiore are breathtaking. I also thought the room rates for a solo traveler were quite reasonable compared to other nearby hotels in Stresa of similar standard. The staff were attentive, welcoming and courteous (except perhaps for one receptionist who seemed a bit overwhelmed and officious upon check-in). My special compliments to Frederico, however, who made everything right. He went above and beyond!
This could be a five-star hotel if a few additional amenities were included, such as international electrical outlets and/or adapters for modern electronic devices, updated and faster elevators, and a staircase on which to walk up and down safely. That is, the grand staircase was beautifully decorated with colorful bouquets of flowers but, as a result, did not provide access to the safety railing for a number of the lower steps. I nearly lost my balance toting my carry-on luggage down the steps.
The ambience, location and room as well as friendly staff in every location
An impressive historic building in an excellent location, with potential. The pool and spa areas are pleasant and inviting, and the poolside staff and bar team were kind and attentive.
The rooms are outdated, worn, and tired — small and cramped, with a tiny, uncomfortable shower. The toilet was leaking and remained unfixed despite reporting it to the staff. The beds and mattresses are uncomfortable and urgently need upgrading. The reception staff were unfriendly and impatient, giving the impression that guests are a nuisance. We did not receive the room we had booked, despite prior correspondence and written confirmation. There was clearly no communication between staff members. Later, we were told it was too late and that things would be handled in the morning — but that never happened either.Breakfast was mediocre and uninspired, lacking variety and fresh vegetables. There were no live stations, and everything seemed pre-prepared - some items were reheated, others served cold. Breakfast ends at 10:00, even on weekends, which feels more like an airport lounge than a vacation experience.
The atmosphere of the whole place is exeptional! Very good breakfast, prefessional staff. And the pool is definetly worth visiting.
Nothing really
Gorgeous location.
The staff were not friendly/warm at all. This was noticed by everyone in our group. (30) Normally we have wonderful experiences in Italy. I’d not return to this hotel because of how sour the staff was.
Excellent location, stylish property.
The way the mini bar in the room is handled. I was charged for a lot of bottles I did not drink. As a matter of fact, the person in the reception sent someone to the room to remove all the bottles simply because I needed to keep one bottle of limoncello I had purchase. The following day I realized I was chargef for all the bottles had removed.
The sport club downstairs with the indoor grotto pool and sauna were a highlight of an already fantastic visit.
Lots of choices for breakfast buffet served in a beautiful room.
Rooms are very very small. No kettle in the room for tea or coffee.
Very old school. Very Grand. Great service
The hotel and hotel bar basically shutdown at Midnight. They literally start turning off lights. Not very inviting bar layout. We ended going to Happy Hours down the street at the Grand Hotel which was a lot more fun.
Beautiful vintage "Grand Hotel" with all that comes with it. Great location, amazing view (lake) from the window, big room, comfortable bed.
Bathroom - very old-style and uncomfortable (especially the bath). Minibar - upon checking-in you get a note stating that the minibar is "electronically controlled" so even if you pull out a bottle and return it, you are charged. Furthermore - if you store your own beverages/food - you are charged 5 Euros per day, and you have to ask permission in advance. I believe that an hotel of this category and prestige, should not act this way. People should be allowed to store their own bottle of mineral water in the room's fridge...Last but not least - breakfast. On one hand, the breakfast hall is beautiful, like the rest of the hotel. Really majestic. The staff is very kind and helpful. On the other hand - the breakfast itself - could have been better. Very basic/continental.
We like everything about it - the location(near the train station and the lake was just in front), the room, the pools including the wellness spa and the breakfast
Beautiful decor, view, and pool facilities. Staff very helpful.
Outdated plumbing. It did not seem that the A/C was turned on yet in early May (it was 85F out). It is mostly an older crowd.
Perfect location, everything very close like restaurants and access to the boats.
We arrived at midnight and asked for a toasted sandwich and a cup of tea. For this they charged us €21 each. An extortionate amount for a very small sandwich. This cost the hotel because in principle we did not spend another cent in the hotel. We were not the only ones to react in this way.
